Like that you actually dedicated a significant amount of time to Cloud gaming. Some other reviews I watched spend half the time talking about the price, then they test emulators on it, then they say "oh yeah also cloud gaming." It's literally designed to be a more comfortable and immersive Cloud experience than attaching controllers to your phone and most people are missing the point I think.
Thank you for that and for taking the time to share your thoughts! I was trying to balance the time between everything the device can do and somehow still missed a few points I wanted to touch upon. 🤣 It's a super comfy device though and I've personally been playing Persona 5 on it every night in bed, good stuff!
@@claytonyoung1351 Same. I have Odin Lite, Steamdeck and RP3. For people who like handheld gaming at home this is the device to get IMO. Especially for local remote play through Steamlink and PS Play. The trade off in pros and cons for running the game natively on Steamdeck vs remote play on Logitech is honestly heavily in Logitechs favor. I will take max graphics, 60fps and a slight input delay over 30-40 fps on low settings and 90 minutes of battery on the Steamdeck.
For me, what sold me was the screen and the battery life. My phone can do all that it does... but if I do, my battery dies, this little device keeps going and going.
It's not a complete disaster as the screen and battery life are good, but the lack of refinement regarding the controller mapping and charging a premium price is a receipe for disaster. Availability here in Spain is non existent as Amazon is not selling them here. Great review and agree with all of your points.
It's crazy that this has no release outside of the US, it's even worse than I thought. Logitech, for whatever reason, has set this up to be dead on arrival. It's a shame. 😢
I have been a part of the cloud gaming revolution since Cyberpunk came out for Stadia 12/2020. I am all about the cloud! Still pushing strong using GFN, Luna and Xcloud. Just got this bad boy a few weeks ago and am loving it. Wish the processor was a tad newer. but love it so far. A great Wi-Fi connection is needed, so if your internet sucks, this is a hunk of junk lol. The emulation is great. I am still learning how to do all that. I have N64 working so far. Need to learn what to do for PS and other ones. This video was crazy helpful. Subscribed!
If this goes on early Black Friday sales for $250 or less, I'll give it a go. BTW, video production is amazing on this. Keeps getting better and better!
You got your wish its 250 on logitech's website with their black Friday coupon, just have to have 2 items in your cart so buy the cheapest item which is 10 dollar usb cord.
Great video! I've been using mine for about a week now, it's an amazing feeling device and the screen is top notch! I got mine to be an assesory to my gaming pc. It's a perfect size and weight, since getting it my desk is collecting dust as I'm playing more on the couch, in bed, on the porch and patio. What I tell everyone, If streaming is your main goal this device is unbeatable. If emulation and local gaming is your main goal get the SteamDeck or Odin(if you don't mind waiting months for one).
Agreed, this is the device that really has sold me on cloud gaming as being a viable alternative to playing games natively. It was very cool to be chilling in my backyard playing Destiny 2 on a super comfortable and light weight device. Thanks for sharing your experience and commenting! 🤗💗
@@retrotechdad here's another sub. You deserve it. Everything you said is reasonable. Everyone is waiting for his personal unicorn, in the meantime we buy several devices to fulfill the various needs. I'll be finishing 2022 with a modded Switch OLED, a G Cloud I expect from Canadian friends in December, and the wonderful AOKZOE A1 which is due to arrive during November. Best wishes from Italy!
I got the Logitech cloud and so far I’m impressed with it its a shame that you cant download games to it like the steam deck but it’s still a good device or at least i think it is
I think it's a very solid device, I've done a few follow-up videos with it since I enjoy it quite a bit. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you're enjoying it!
Great review, the one thing the RP3 has over the G-Cloud as well is video out and the ability to play 2 player games on the same screen with bluetooth controllers. Like it would be pretty sweet to have a friend over and play some arcade beat em' up's on the tv, even though it's only 720p. It just seems Logitech kinda rushed this out, no wifi-6, no video out, but enough power to do most of the things. It's just for the price I'm not sure...
I was extremely disappointed by the lack of video out on the G. It seems like another oversight when pairing this with services like Game Pass, it's basically like having an Xbox you can plug in anywhere.
I'm going to see what I will focus on with the device, still undecided. I do want to try out some Wii emulation and see where it stands. Thank you for commenting!
Terrific review and production quality. Thanks dad! I have to agree. For the price point, G Cloud is indeed underwhelming. But this also proves that good screen and ergonomics goes a long way. If only it was fairly priced. P.S. Looking forward to your Razer Edge review!
I've seen it go second hand for about 250 and at that price it's tempting. Even owning a deck, but can't justify it. Especially considering fat32 storage, just noooo
@@Dracossaint At $250 I'd probably still skip it. I ended up getting Razer Edge instead. That too, has its own set of problems but at least that can do more than just cloud gaming. Couldn't be happier with the Edge's performance especially in emulation.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I have a few videos with the G Cloud. It's such an underrated device and now that there are pretty good deals on it, the G becomes even more compelling!
I really wish they would hurry up and give us people in Europe some notice if they are going to release this worldwide or not I really want one this is perfect for chilling in bed at night
Damn, I didn't even realize this isn't available in Europe. I think Logitech just wants this thing to fail and it's a shame. It's a really cool device.
Great review as always my friend. This was very detailed, chill music was great, and you used Michaelangelo, my main, when playing TMNT. I’m going to try some of these Android deep cuts when I get a chance.
Thank you, always appreciate you coming by and commenting! 💗🙏 Yes, definitely check out some of the Android games I've talked about on the channel, lots of good stuff available natively! Mikey is the best, hands down!
I’m a huge PS2 fan could you do a video in the future of some shooter ups from the PS2 era please. Thanks I like how you played different games most channels just play the same ones over and over. Again thanks.
You're right about the price. For $250 this device makes sense. For $350, it needs a better CPU and 8GB of ram. If this has a SD865 or Dimensity 1300, it would be much more competitive.
The fact that this is marketed as a primarily streaming device at $350 is absolutely baffling. Even if it had similar chops to the Odin the price is just way, way out there. HOWEVER... it is pretty cool, isn't it?
The apps do close but they are still in the background. The reason why they start that way is because of the aggressive memory management of Android 11. However, these apps are still running (albeit using less RAM) in the background and RAM usage is increased when you have multiple apps open vs nothing (which is what is suggested based on the language in handheld mode). This can be confirmed using a utility to monitor RAM. I monitored RAM usage around 2.0GB without anything in the background. Then, I returned to handheld mode, opened, ran, and closed a few apps and now idle RAM usage increased to almost 2.6GB usage. The issue with this is that for an unsuspecting user who might stay in handheld mode strictly, over time this will absolutely have an impact on the limited RAM available in the Logitech. I hope this clarifies a little by what I meant in my video, thanks for commenting!
For Luna to control properly you will need to buy the Amazon Luna WiFi controller for play. Without it controls will continue to have lags when cloud streaming thus if you rather prefer the control in this thing then you won't have a good time with Luna here.
That was an awesome review. I think it was and is so costly just compared to steam deck or handhelds from china. Both have their price reducing techniques. If you compare it to the other non mass market handhelds like ayaneo, it wouldn’t have an unreasonable price. Another example is PS Portal, which is cheaper, but is much more restricted, more mass market, and also it has price cut because it helps sell ps games for Sony. We consumers can say that in comparable landscape it is very pricey, but I bet that Logitech would get very small if any profit margin if it were sold at 200 dollars at start. In other hand I think the device is very different than most of them in the market, so that I would probably buy it even for 500 dollars. There’s only 2 real competitors for cloud gaming handheld (excluding ps portal which ps only) - abxylute, which is cheaper and less quality (also inaccessible in my region) and odin lite or something (there a ton of models) which is smaller device
Great in-depth review. Imho this device doesn't have a reason to exist for anything more than $200. There's just no reason to go for this rather than a better device at the current price point.
This looks like the perfect device for me but it's just too expensive to justify it. If it goes under $250 I'll probably buy one. But at this price I'd rather just spend a little more to get a Steamdeck
Retroid P3 isn't ready if it expects you to open up the device to install replacement parts. I will get it when it ships complete (maybe Christmas or January I hope).
This thing would have made far more sense being pitched as (like the title suggests) an Android Gaming handheld. It should have come bundled with a couple of months of Google Play Pass and depracated the cloud stuff.
If this could even be as good as ayn odin It could be worth it to give it a try even if it's almost at double price, but being far worse is unacceptable...
It has no issues playing Android games. It can handle that and a lot of emulation as well. I've done a few videos showing some of its additional capabilities.
Hi good day sir . Can ask ? I have a G cloud gaming i have already game pass from xbox . But i don't know why i can't play and download from xbox app ? Sir can you teach me how to open and play or download from the xbox. Thank you sir .
Did you get the Xbox Game Pass beta app from the Play Store? You can only stream Xbox games from the cloud to the G Cloud. Not all games will be available as part of the cloud service.
@@retrotechdad ow yes sir do have already . And i already registered from xbox game pass . But can download game from my account . And also sir one more sir what' is the sd card 1tb capable for G cloud ? Thank you sir.
🤔 but why logitech just make it in white colour, should have make another colour maybe black or blue like the aokzoe blue, im not that 💯 sure if this white colour will last long enough before we can see it changing to yellowish, let see we don’t know only time will tell…no video out is just not right, we know that the intention logitech making this g cloud just for handheld functions no playing it on big tv
I think Luna does not work well with this device for some reason. I have tried it on my other androids/ios/pc and they all run at 60fps. Luna runs at 30fps on logitech g cloud, idk how to fix it.
Not much for g cloud steaming nor playing android tablet games. When heard about this i was hoping for a pure handheld console where download from gamestore like steamdeck or switch. Kind disappointed that that its cloud streaming device. Dont get me wrong it looks nice and defeintely see potential in this but i'm not much of a cloud streaming kind of guy. I also dont know much about emulation or finding decent games for tablets that worth playing.
I just don't understand why they use SOC that expensive and powerful just for Cloud Gamings, the price also problems and Logitech always do that even with their own product.
so you are getting like 3 year old device for now it has android 11 and 720g? and 4 gb ram but my 150 dollar phone from 2019 has 6 gb of ram helio g90t way stronger than 720g android 11 but with custom rom its android 13 yeah I mean beside of the fact that it has amazing battery life its worse than a budget phone
For sure, it's just disappointing that Logitech didn't cook one up themselves. It also would be nice to have support from a large company like Logitech since I know using gamepad mappers can result in bans in games like Genshin Impact.
So I have wen asking you for 5 months to play destiny with me and you go behind my back playing it in the most awesome way without telling me….. okay rob …ok. Friendship
G Cloud is great, I would definitely recommend not getting a Steam Deck which costs over 600 once you add obligatory memory (TBH Valve should be sued as a bait and switch on that misleading 399 as 64 GB is a joke for a native games device) and a battery pack, and has ugh 720P dim display. It's also anywhere from 2-9X as powerful as RP3. Obviously that one is much more portable. As I said the only real loser is steam deck which is just a underpowered, bulky and hot PC tablet with control on the sides. BTW G Cloud is selling well is my guess. The Chinese retro handhelds are gonna have to step up their game because G Cloud kinda just ended them, it's the ultimate evolution, except for more power, which due to diminishing returns wouldnt even be that relevant (AKA, 2X the power of G Cloud will not get you 2X the emulation capability, not even close)
In the end, the products are obviously targeted towards very different audiences. The Steam Deck enters the conversation because of the price point. I really wish Logitech would bring it down so more can enjoy this device.
@@retrotechdad I would never choose the steam deck over The Logitech g cloud the support by big lot companies like best buy Amazon and the screen and battery life it's no comparison
Having Amazon and Best Buy carry this is very cool. I love being able to just order it and have it show up the next day or walk into a store and pick it up. It's definitely something that people will think about when comparing wait times. In addition, they have holiday return/price matching in place so there are some protections with price drops.
@@retrotechdad It's not reasonable to ask a device manufacturer to match the steamdeck on pricing. The steamdeck is a loss leader, Valve makes all their profits on software through owning the store. No hardware manufacturer can do that and asking logitech to lose money on hardware is crazy.
Why would you buy this instead of a steam deck for 50 dollars more?? You can stream xcloud on the deck with the same amount of ease. Seems extremely pointless to me.
Better screen, better battery life, looks better, smaller, which is better for traveling, and yeah, its only $50 more, but the steam deck at that price is only 64 gb...you can't do shit with it, you can literally only stream games. You would need at least the 256gb, which is $180 more and even then that's not enough memory to really use it to the fullest (actually installing your games). You're actually paying $50 more for a shittier screen, bulkier, heavier, louder product that can really only do the same thing for what you get. I'd rather have a steam deck, but the price is actually a lot more when you think about it.
@@josephsantillan3817 I don’t really care what you end up buying. Streaming is in its infancy. It’s unreliable, not satisfying, and graphically inferior. The point of a handheld is portability, if you can’t take it with you without needing an active, fast and reliable internet connection to play games… what is the point of not just getting a tower pc or console. Or gaming on a phone with a controller. The screen is still an IPS screen, and while it’s 1080p… the games are limited to video bitrate constraints, which means it’s not even actually a rendered 1080p. “The G cloud Looks better” is subjective, I’m not even going to argue with that. Every single person in 2023 has an SD card in some fashion, and a 256 gb ssd is 30 dollars on eBay. There are 10 screws keeping you from replacing the SSD. I put a 2tb in mine along with a 1tb micro SD. Cloud gaming one day might make more sense than buying dedicated hardware, but until that day, this device came out way too early and is priced way too high.
