For anyone attempting this, I'd highly recommend a low melt solder called chipquik. It stays molten for ten seconds after you take the iron off. So you can loosen the solder for each of the three contacts of the old switches and remove them very easily, and then just clean up the area with solder wick. It's the only way I'm going to repair surface mounted components going forward.

I just put a piece of plastic as a thickness layer under my right click button in order to add a thick layer to close the gap between the switch and the plastic click of the mouse so my double click problem is solved Its not everytime about switches ita about that the little piece of plastic becomes bad as time passes so it doesn't reach the switch as it should wich results are double clicking its about just adding a very tiny layer of a square shaped plastic and stick it to the plastic click of the mouse and it becomes new I did this to my logitech g pro wireless and it worked

I have mine for 3 years ive been smashing it all the way and its still working, then after all of that the sensor sometimes is not responding, then it keeps disconnecting due to cable issue. the switches are crisp af after 3 years.

if you've had the mouse for a while and have noticed it becoming more of a problem over time, it's worth considering just doing a teardown with a can of compressed air and some Q-tips / rubbing alcohol at the handy so you can clean the mf'er out. unless you're fastidiously clean around your peripherals, shit is just always going to get into the spots where it can get into over time. Your scroll wheel is a huge point of accumulation for crumbs and hair and grime - it's in a pretty central, face-up location and it literally rotates to expose surfaces from outside the mouse to the interior of the mouse, plus it's usually cradled in a semi-circular sheath of sorts, so gravity is not your friend. I found so much weird shit inside mine when I did a teardown after roughly 2 years of ownership - I'm kind of a disgusting animal, constantly smoking and eating around my peripherals and using them outdoors and traveling with them without carrying cases and you name it, but my guess is even the more cleanly among us will still find some surprises in there.

What are you using to hold the PCB? Is that just random mounting putty or something specific for soldering?

This was blutac, I use a hakko omniverse but Blutac or a cheap croc slip holder works well also.

Did you tried the Kailh GM 8.0 (the black-transparent ones) or heard of these switches? I wonder if I should just go and buy the red ones (GM 4.0) or order the "newer" version.

No, I didn't tried them yet. I'm in the process of ordering some new replacement switches and was looking for the Kailh Red as I saw the GM 8.0. Looking forward to your test/review of them.

I've been having the double click issue lately and in my investigations I found that it doesn't happen when my G703 is connected via a wire. Is this really an issue with the switches or is it actually a software/wireless communication issue?

Strange, normally its a switch issue but it should be a problem on both wired and wireless

@@Beardedbob It must have been coincidence that the double click didn't happen while it was connected with a wire. I have changed the switches to Kaihl reds and I haven't accidentally bought an AUG in CS:GO all weekend! Thanks for the helpful videos. Interestingly, after changing the M1+2 switches the middle click became very temperamental. Thankfully I already had replacement switches for that and my mouse is working great now. The middle mouse switch was actually a Kaihl from the factory.

Use around 360 to 400 depending on the pcb thickness. 👍

I think you should check your mic setup. It was hard to understand what did you said. (The volume levels went up and down. Sometimes the volume went down when you were still speaking. Also that a little bit annoying background music made the problem bigger.)

audio issues have been an issue but i've swapped out my mic as hte rode was to sensitive for the room db level which then impacted alot... shure smb7 is not fine.

well i bought G300s it had issues right out of the prob had issues right from the factory see idont game i used to but not anymore so when i looked it up online i fiound someone that ghad the same issue and he conntacted logitech they stted you need to fix it .. and i was like are serius thats a manuf defect thats coverd under warrenty and its less tha an hour old what is this world coming to when th warrenty doesnt evan help. Gibson guitars and its sidekick epiphone and kramer there warrenty if you change anu=ytimre evan the knobs it voids the warrenty jeeez thats redicualse.in my opinion and logi tech knows about the isse too.

You can but you will need micro switches as they aren't the normal ones.

desoldering the lead free silver solder they use on mice is a fucking nightmare, shit has a wait too high melting point.

One easy tip I learned was to slightly tin the tip of the iron first then it should transfer the heat a lot better. I didn't have a soldering wick at the time and that did the trick (using a solder sucker)

love step 2 bro. I ALWAYS be slapping my switches, especially my random switches. Sometimes I mix that shit up by slapping and installing a Nintendo switch in my mouse, but Linksys Ethernet Switches and light switches are dope too. Fucking #slapthatswitch
