eltouristoduo Yeah that was dumb comment it make me cringe. In everything we make sacrifices for development, like investing money for better research.
I want to make my g502 quieter. I watched a video a couple nights ago on here about it. I love gaming with mechanical switch keyboards but sometimes it's a little much. Especially since I'm the only gamer that lives in the house, AND a lot of my gaming goes on at really late at night/way early in the morning.
I just ordered one meself and am waiting for it to arrive, watching you saw off pieces and drilling holes though the mouse I'm about to receive hurts, oomph!
You should look at doing a button cell battery mod too, you can save about 10 grams with the smaller battery, and then also removing the stock battery holder entirely.
Thanks for sharing! I'd love to see a tear down and weight reduction video on the Microsoft Pro Intellimouse. It's heavy, but the shape is my favorite right now.
Np, I've got the MS Intelli I just haven't had chance to review it but I might get around it and to tear it down. if you haven't already request it on my beardedbob.com website.
@@BeardedbobI just learned you have a site. Nice. I ended up voting because the video request form just refreshes when I submit. I don't know if the Pro Intellimouse would get that much votes, but I think you should still do it because its beloved shape. People probably stay away from it now because it's over 100 grams, but the shape and sensor is the best for right-handed gamers. A video from you would bring light to a sleeper mouse, and I think the Reddit community would appreciate it as much as I would.
Yeah, Its a work in progress but hopefully it has some useful info, I just need some more time to focus on it as I've some cool ideas for it. I get some requests for it so you never know.
In my mouse I pushed the original contact spring a little bit, so any AAA battery fit perfectly. I decided to do that because sometimes with the aluminium foil the mouse stopped working (bad contact).
@@Romulus84 It worked fine. The spring itself was very stiff, like some kind of stainless steel, so I needed to push it a little bit from every turn of the spring to make it even. Sometimes the AAA baterry "jumps" a little bit from the plus side, but not a problem for me. Like if I where to play a competition I would use a plastic adaptor. But for everyday use is very good and zero cost.
I have a trick that I've done on a G9 and now this mouse, take the mouse feet off and sand the bottom flat with 20 grit sandpaper, cut about 2 grams, with potential for maybe 3 or 4 considering how much surface area you're impacting. You can take it down to your desired thickness.
Another significant way to reduce weight would be to do away with the lithium battery and battery holder altogether, replacing them with a small button cell that could be held in place with foam/tape. This would save about 10g as the AAA lithium battery and its compartment weigh 13g together, and the button cell and a bit of foam/tape weigh only a few grams.
This my other account “John Smithens”. Another tip from a model guy if ya care.... You can amazon bits for ur dremel called “ceramic nail bits” they are ceramic and do not melt the plastic! This is how I was able to shave the inside bottom of my fk2 without having to cut holes on the bottom plate. This is what the nail salons use and unlike metal carbon bits the ceramic bits will not cut you at all! Now I also use the same type of drills the nail salons use because I can control RPM down to 0-30k this is a must for what we are doing. I’m not sure if Dremel has a speed control, but if it does then take a look at the bits you can thin out everything and no body would even know or reshape a mouse with “automotive bondo”! Ok ok I’ll shut up now! I’ll find a amazon link for the bits in a second

Cool, I'll take a look at them and I might test them out on the G502. Yeah, you can control the speed so I'll take a peek. thanks for the tips I'm always interested in other options so feel free to let me know :-)
Ok, I've drilled the extra G305 shell I bought. I did not as radical as he did. I'm at 76 g including an AAA lithium battery. That seems to be enough. 🙂
Hey beardedbob, Can you try 3d printing instead of ruining the original cast of the mouse? If the 3d printed plastic is lighter then we dont need to make holes or it would be possible to thin out some of the parts without drilling holes. Thanks
I own a Razer Viper but I don't really use the right side buttons and I was wondering if you could maybe do a weight reduction video for the Razer Viper somewhere in the near future?
Hey, I sure will be doing. It's on the vote systems so if you vote you can help priorities it above others. www.beardedbob.com/vote-for-which-review-you-want-next/
@@Beardedbob Thanks! Will do. Keep up the great work I love your video's. No other mouse review channel goes as much into details like you and it's nice :)
Great stuff again my friend! I just dropped my fk2 down to 68grams! I have an ultrasonic cutter for scale modeling that cuts through anything like butter! So I cut the side click pcb in half and cut the inner frame just leaving the Pilar’s stable. On the inside of the top shell I sanded 240-600 grit so that the clicks became god like now no more crazy pre travel! I was cheap and didn’t paracord I just have the wire bare 2inches from the mouse. Thanks for the videos they helped me jump back on the modding scene again!
Also can 100% confirm using lighter fluid (zippo brand) will unstick feet and allow u to pull it up without wrapping. The lighter fluid evaporates and leaves the mouse feet once again sticky like originals! Confirm on my fk2
Beardedbob I could take some! I’ll make a imugre or what ever it’s called and link you! U might love this cutting tool ($300USD) since you strike me as a crazy tool guy like me. LoL Thanks for always responding means a lot!
Thanks, glad you are enjoying it. I don't have the mamba Wireless anymore only the elite, but the other two I do. If you want to put them on the radar and they aren't already you can request them here to be added to the voting system. www.beardedbob.com/request-form/ or if they are already on there you can vote on here www.beardedbob.com/vote-for-which-review-you-want-next/ This helps me track what people want to see on the channel in the future 👍
besides the g502, a mmo mouse with a good sensor weight reduction vid would be interesting. i havent seen one under 110g. if there was a sub 100g mouse like that, it would be perfect for me
I will I’ve if someone Turn wireless g502 to 80g with hexagon hole 3D print part but keep the button I will love to see that. Or turn mx 518 l to wireless
I'm also using AAA to AA converter but just the half part, also using cheap lighter battery, for my office logitech mouse, i think it's win-win since this mouse last almost 2 years using reguler alkaline AA battery
Finalmouse UL2 - Cape Town hyperglides haven’t been released yet so I have to get Corepad skatez for universal use and measure the dimensions to cut it out. The reason behind this was I wanted to change to a paracord but then removing the normal mouse feet will kill the adhesive!
I can’t wait for the g502 lightspeed weight reduction video. I just did one for myself and I was able to get it down to 88grams, but I want to see your’s to see if I missed something to drop it even more.
you don't need to do all that....just get a smaller battery and use an adapter, reduces the weight from 100g to like 82g which is close to the g pro which is like 80g
I'm not saying you do need to do it all you can just tailor it to your preference. The best mod is a AAA battery and foil. This is a simple mod and gives you the most weight reduction.
@@Beardedbob I don't think making an ultralight version would add much cost, I might be wrong though, besides, as you said, you can always print tour own and I think this is the way to go, unfortunately I don't have access to any 3d printers atm but it's on my bucket list
I did mine with 3d printed base and battery cover. Changed to tripple A battery and kept the scroll wheel and side buttons cause I need it. The final weight is 68 grams. If I remove the side buttons, scroll wheel and battery cover could easily 60 grams.
G203/102 is pretty much g305 but wired version. I love the g305 pretty much g pro wireless but cheaper. Same with g203 is like the g pro wired but cheaper
I was do some. I think the better option is if you want it that light it remove it as others have said and just connect the sites or use a smaller battery. It could save 10g more. I might do a stage 2 mod and do that to it we shall see.
How much difference do the weight have on gaming? I do not feel any need to change the weight of any mouse for I get use to it after some days, and even have used many different mouses over the years I have not seen the weight affect my gaming skills.
Worth checking my S2 teardown and seeing if you can see what you could remove. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PEWxVrC_Buc.html I plan to do one, if you want to priorities it then you can vote for it here www.beardedbob.com/vote-for-which-review-you-want-next/
Beardedbob Just watched the video and have started to tear apart my mouse. It seems the internal shell could be sanded down A LOT and drilled as well as the bottom. This could also mean no seen holes! I need to find my drill first lol
fs, the connector in the middle of mine just came off the pcb when I tried to disconnect the cable with a plastic tool to avoid using as much force as you showed
@@Beardedbob Honestly, I am currently waiting for an extra G305 shell from Aliexpress ($12) to butcher it the way you did. I don't feel like trying to 3D-print it. :-)
Some people just like a left and right click. An example would be the M1K. I personal keep the scroll and side buttons you can tailor it to your preference. This video shows you what’s people but you have to decide what if anything you want to mod
Cool mod but not for everyone, for the price of me buying g305 + all the tools shown in the video to make this possible is a lot more expensive than buying a 105$ G Pro x Superlight @62grams, that I managed to snag on Prime sale.
yep few around. 3d printed on also on thigiverse here is one I've done which makes it 63g. www.reddit.com/r/MouseReview/comments/movfei/stock_look_but_under_the_bonnet_things_have/?context=3
can I pay someone to do this to mine put keep mouse wheel dpi button and side buttons? The g305 fits my hand so perfectly but I want a lighter mouse any mouse bigger doesn't work for me.
@@Beardedbob Oh i'm looking the video rn and just by seeing the picture thought it was a 3d printed one, that's clean. not sure i'll try on the visible part then.

beardedob, i checked your custom shop, are you exclusive to only modding razer, logitech, zowie and glorious? i was wondering if you also do steelseries, specifically 310 for new switches and cable
Not putting the scroll-wheel back in is cheating. I tried a mod once where I had no scroll-wheel and it's absolutely garbage x) it ain't practical to remove that one.
NIce vid ! I have almost no need of scrollwheel in gaming, but I don't consider it's removal legit in general. I use it so much everywhere else, including in game server browsing. The other buttons, yeah, toss em, idc.
You still responding to all comments after a year! :O you should really try trimming the pcb and removing all the connectors, wires soldered directly + using cheap carbon (not alkaline) AAA they weight nothing! Maybe adding thin transparent plastic films at bottom with a couple super glue drops, would prevent dust getting in
Sure am..... I'll will check out the alkaline AAA or a LR44... The transparent plastics I've done before and it doesn't stop dust. In fact on every mouse, you will get dust even sealed ones.
Why everyone is trying to lower the weight of mice as much as possible. I can understand that if you using 400dpi the less weight the more you can swing the mice easier but seriously the resolution is going up to 2k-4k and even 8k in the future so try to use higher dpi such as 800-1600. I am using pbt Ducky Secret mouse about 120gram 800dpi Corsair MM350 mousepad and the control is fine, buying slippy smooth mousepad would help to increase the speed too. I have played CS franchise nearly 20 years from beta to today. If you play other fast games like quake or unreal, then 400dpi is not enough so adapt to higher DPI please. Moreover, playing with low resolution 4:3 in csgo is pretty funny. The graphic is so blur and it's just for the pros. If you're not going to go pro then you do not need to set up your configuration like pros. It hurts your eyes. I have Logitech MX158 old version (dead), G400, G403,Zowie Za 12 in my mice collection and after a lot of mice I think the shape and material used for building the mice are more important than the weight.
Here's the url for the tool kit I got this from www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MW8HBGY/?cv_ct_id=amzn1.idea.3OIVNALVMHDNT&cv_ct_pg=storefront&cv_ct_wn=aip-storefront&ref=exp_cov_beardedbob_dp_vv_d
Can you do a G602 weight reduction mod? There's still so many floating around and it's an old favourite for many. There really aren't *any* G602 mods that discussed on youtube/forums so this might be something of an untapped hotbed. Great video, cheers!
