LOL i just bought this is 2022 for $400 for my NEW desktop i9 computer , is decade old model & still kicking ass hands down! none out there better an this Only thing wish they made a upgrade version with HDMI ARC connection
Just ordered my second pair for £150. Been using the first set on my PC for 2 years and it's amaxing for gaming. The new one will be for my TV. Best value solution and awesome power. I'm looking forward to movies with serious surround impact.
+Paul Edwards Paul: Thanks for the feedback. I may lower the background music a bit. It does help to hide transitions. Once again, I really do appreciate the feedback.
I have Z5500 connected via digital and analog input to creative x-fi gamer. For music and movies only digital, so the sound is more crystal clear and in movies DTS & DD 5.1 is encoded. For games, sound is not encoded in DTS & DD 5.1 over optical. 5.1 for games can only be obtained over an analog connection! Therefore, both connections are needed for different scenarios!
Can you please do this test ? When watching a movie or listening a song in 3d mode why the rear left and rear right sound like they are underwater and the quality on those 2 is bad ? First set them to 3d mode from the console and put your ear near them.
1/23/2018 @Odast As far as connecting the Z906 to my laptop using the supplied cable, which has the light green - orange - black plugs at each end, I plugged in the three to the woofer. The other end, I only plugged in the light green, as my HP Laptop has ONLY ONE AUDIO OUTPUT. My question is: Is that hookup, as I explained O.K., OR, would you or anyone else suggest getting a different cable for OPTIMAL SOUND quality? IF so, what cable should I purchase? Thank You.
i always prefer optical outputs. This may not be an option on a laptop. I would only plug in the green into both ends. otherwise you may get unintended signals into the woofer.
I'm confused...you mentioned to NOT use the optical out and to instead, use the digital out but I didn't think this system had a digital out, only the 3.5 and optical (or is it SPDIF?). I was going to use an HDMI convertor to run HDMI from my PC to the input, HDMI out to monitor and the SPDIF cable for audio. Would that work?
I have a Sound Blaster PCIe card and my ASUS Maximus VII Hero motherboard also has an on-board sound card called a "SupremeFX." Both sound cards have digital optical ports as shown on the Z906 speaker system, and I want to test each card to find out which one sounds best for me. Should I use the digital option or the analog connections instead? Thanks.
Hello sir, nice review video, i have one dout shall we connect this z906 sound system to onkyo or yamaha AV Receiver? to feel dolby atmos sound affects.
Hi good review thanks...I got the situation that my computer doesn't have a digital audio output so im thinking to get an external usb audio card to get one, but im not so sure if its a good solution.... do you think that would the to get the purest signal ??( by the way excuse my english is not my language) I already thanks any help on the subject...
Hi, if I hook up my computer and TV to this system, does the TV have no sound if your playing music from your computer off this system? So if I want to play music off computer while still listening to TV, will your TV play sound back to the TV speakers as it originally was? Hope you understand question, wasn't sure how to address it.
I have to disagree on the Digital Optical Output, because optical out can only push stereo PCM signal. However it can manage transmitting 5.1 through lossy codecs like DTS or Dolby Digtal.
Hello Odast, How can l get one of those now Odast...?l really really need and want one of that system really bad,l know you did this video way back in 2015 and l'm asking you now in 2016.l will be very glad if you help me.
I have that exact sound card. for games, I would use the analog, hands down! take advantage of the analog 5.1 features in that card in games! you can also use the optical for your Blu-ray/TV or whatever for digital in movies.
I know this video is a couple years old but I really need a reply to this comment cuz I'm in the process of getting a new 5.1 sound system. I know you mentioned using the analog ports on the sub as well as PC if our motherboard has a good audio card built into it. My motherboard does and also has a digital optical port (I'm using analog at the moment with my logitech x-540). Would using the digital output from my motherboards sound card make a big different? Now I know soundbars are the thing now and was wondering how this system would compare to a vizio SB3651. I haven't heard the the Z960 yet in person but heard a vizio sound bar in person and it was decent for the most part. My drawback from deciding which one to get is that I won't be able to mount both to my wall due to me renting an apartment. I like having my front speakers certain distances away at ear level for a theater like effect. With the vizio sound bar and Z960, I would only be able to sit them on my desk. Which product do you think is the best bang for the buck for sound quality?
Thanks for your video. I am running a Creative Lab's Sound Blaster Z audio card on my Intel PC and I wish to go with Logitech Z906 speakers, but you say don't use the Optic cable. My system is setup in my bedroom. I just want good sound wile watching movies and things, plus just kickback and listen to music. Could you explain in more detail why I shouldn't do this ??? Stay Safe Dave from Canada
Anton D. Santoso I believe you have to use all the AV audio ports because I don’t think this has optical which is stupid...if it has a optical port on the subwoofer and one on your TV use that cable to get true 5.1
took me few hours to realize, but you press level button, until you selected the Subwoofer channel, then rotate volume button and control only that - which is actually the bass.
5/04/2018 +Rahul - Use the "level" button on your remote to switch between speakers. On each of the speakers as indicated on the DOLBY DIGITAL "brain", you may adust the volume level.
I think my Z906 is faulty... the satellites don't have any midrange. If I turn down the sub it sounds like phone speakers, only a bit cleaner. I can't believe this is normal for the price....
