1952: random lumberjack group 1996: 4 finnish singers out of nowhere 2007: anime girl with a leek 2021: turkish guy with a darbuka 2022:some memers in the internet adding a cat in the turkish version
Me talking to my cat named Paul when I see him about to climb the bird cage "Paul... Paul... Paul... Paul" "Hey, Paul... Hey, Paul... Hey Paul" "Stop that... Stop that... Stop that"
At first i was like why youtube recommend me such a low resolution video from 15 years ago and it is just 4 people standing and singing. I wanna know why and click it , i found masterpiece
That man voice is very important... Without him the bass wouldn't come!!!🔥🔥🔥 Literally got more than 3k likes.. it's shows that still many people have good taste in terms of musicality!!
There are two things I love about this. One, the sheer talent of the performance of the song as it stands. Two: The seemingly overall enjoyment of the singers to perform the song.
I love everything about this performance, but I especially like 1:33, when the singer brings a little bit of swing into it along with some very jazzy vibrato and ornamentation.
@@existenceispain_geekthesiren and now you will pay dearly. Every now and then people like me will comment here and correct your mistake. Not that it matters but it has been 26 years
1952: Some lumberjack group in the middle of nowhere. 1996: Some random people singing acapella. 2007: Some anime girl with a leek. History always repeats itself sooner or later, never quite the same, but with the same essence each time.
I think what makes this so hypnotic is the fact that it sounds like total gibberish, but the vocals - in addition to melody - effectively act as percussion.
@@atomeater Well then perhaps listen to this version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CAyWN9ba9J8.html It's a version of this song put on steroids - south African remix. didn't get all those views for nothing
Although I know nothing about Finland or their language, I must say, this is the greatest a capella quartet I've ever heard. I can't stop listening to it. ❤
Lemme help you. Finland is a North-east European country that borders Sweden and Russia. Their capital is Helsinki und Finnish is called "suomi" in Finnish.
@@timppaUT İt wasnt a global song before japanese did post a video of that blue haired anime girl singing it then it became a meme with the turkish blind guy with darbuka
@@worex045 randomly reading the comments to this track while coming back for the millionth time, see this comment, hmm let's check this out. Well damn wtf is that song and how have I never heard this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 thanks for that mate
0:10-0:56, 1:49-2:01, 2:05--2:33 is Finnish language and perfectly understandable for a native Finnish speaker. Other than that the words are made up gibberish that don't actually mean anything, not Finnish nor any other language, they are just a play-a-long really.
From hearing interviews with a Finn (Kimi Raikkonen) I'm convinced no Finn is allowed to speak for more than 30 seconds at a time, so the breaks for some gibberish would fit in with that
I'm convinced that "Salivili hipput tupput täppyt" and similar verses are just polka dance interjections. So yes, they are literally not supposed to mean anything in any language.. But I'm not sure, maybe I'm wrong..
This song reminds me of our summer cottage. My grandma played this song on the radio always when we were there I can't wait for summer so i get to go there again
@@karnavthakur5868 Hanni(the woman on the right doing the solo) actually has a youtube channel where she breaks down every part of this song in dedicated videos, also including the lyrics. A boy meets a girl(Ievan/Eve) on a party/celebration, they dance and at some point her mother wants her to stop. The boy tells the mother to shove it unless she wants to be in bad health and I believe they just continue dancing after that. That's the(waaaay too short) version, check out Hannis Channel if you want to get the full summary
@@azbiakokab Never use google translate on Finnish language, translator doesn't understand it. Just don't, almost never does it get Finnish right. Maybe single words it can get quite okay most of the times, but anything more than that? Just no.
THIS IS JUST EPIC they dont even need instruments just talent and this is definely one of the most iconic things in Finland :D But really this and sandstorm is the most popular finnish musics that outerworld knows that are from Finland :DDD
I have heard this song in far 2006, then I liked it so much and learned it, and now, in 2023 I still remember this song and I listen it sometimes, thank this band for this song, greetings from Moscow, RF
Thank you for this song. It helps mi always, when I suffer from depression. Perhaps it's silly, but doctors say, that it's a kind of the unchanged things I can thing of everytime, when I feel a bit worse, so I do and it really helps. So - thank you, it makes me feeling much better, always, when "this" comes. Thank you so much.
@@Ididitall4thenookie It's also the way how southern Germans pronounce the letter, but for some reason it never sounds so pleasant if they do it. And just for the record: I can pronounce a trilled or tapped R as well (where I live people usually don't pronunce it that way, so in everyday life I also don't do it), but it's also never as pleasently sounding when I do it. :)
The sound of a polka drifted from my neighbor's And set my feet a-tapping oh! Ieva's mother had her eye on her daughter but Ieva she managed to fool her, you know 'Cause who's going to listen to mother saying no When we're all busy dancing to and fro! Ieva was smiling, the fiddle it was wailing As people crowded round to wish her luck Everyone was hot but it didn't seem to bother The handsome young man, the dashing buck 'Cause who's going to mind a drop of sweat When he's all busy dancing to and fro! Ieva's mother, she shut herself away In her own quiet room to hum a hymn Leaving our hero to have a spot of fun In a neighbor's house when the lights are dim 'Cause what does it matter what the old folks say When you're all busy dancing to and fro! When the music stopped then the real fun began And that's when the laddie fooled around When he took her home, when the dancing was over Her mother angrily waiting they found But I said to her, Ieva, now don't you weep And we'll soon be dancing to and fro! Omgggg I remember this from the 90s, I sang this song constantly as a kid! I was sad to recently find out some people only know the song because of some anime girls singing it... Loituma's version is the best. The GOAT.
