I actually teared up watching the finale. Loki played the long game. He’s literally the most important character in the MCU and he’s carrying it on his shoulders for all time. His character arc is my absolute favorite in that universe. Tom Hiddleston played the hell out of Loki and I’m going to miss him! I really enjoyed watching this with y’all!
My first impression at the end was it was maybe an 8/10, great episode, but there are so many unanswered questions that I had built up in my mind. But I realized that was on me - I was getting caught up with the details instead of letting the tapestry they were weaving play out, and it really was wonderful. (granted, if Thor had failed in Love & Thunder, there would have been no Loki to become the God of Stories.)
Loki wanted his friends back, at the TVA. He had a sense of belonging. People he cared about and who cared about him. Now, he will be living out his greatest fear. That of being alone. Sylvie can now go wherever with no fear of being hunted. Whichever path Mobius takes, it will be his choice. It's not just one or the other (TVA or timeline). The possibilities are endless. I do hope we see Loki again at some point.
I love this ending even though it's so bittersweet. Loki's Glorious Purpose has finally has arrived with Loki realizing he can replace the branch-killing Loom, and therefore the Sacred Timeline, with something better: himself. Loki takes He Who Remains place at the End of Time but Loki also becomes the God of Stories according to the MCU wiki and most interpretations. If he is the God of Stories for the MCU then the MCU would be changing the meaning of the God of Stories from the comics but they have changed big things before. I also love how the new natural Loom is in the shape of Yggdrasil. When Loki locks Mobius and Sylvie out and tearfully says goodbye to them, he says the same last words he said to Odin right before falling off the Bifrost Bridge and seemingly dying: “I could have done it, father. For you! For all of us!”. Loki's purpose is a glorious one, but the burden is completely heavy, where he is completely alone, unable to be with his loved ones ever again. Still Loki gets watch over them from countless timelines on a throne at the end of the world. No subjects to rule over, no family, no friends. Just him. His god attire isn't fancy, no gold trimmings, as it emphasizes the "burden" he places on himself. Yggdrasil, also known as the Tree of the World or the World's Tree, is a concept used by the Asgardians to describe the cosmic nebula, with each branch or root representing one of the Nine Realms but this new Yggdrasil is not just for the Nine Realms but for the entire multiverse.
This has been the best from mcu for me, I think the kid mobius was supposed to prune but couldn't was kid loki at the end of time. Also lokis tears in that last scene were real, they had all been saying their goodbyes on set right before filming this scene
I hope Jonathan Majors situation gets cleared up and they continue on with this storyline. It's completely possible that He Who Remains manipulated Loki into taking over the loom, freeing him up to do whatever he wants across all the timelines while the TVA now prunes his variants. The setup is perfect for one of the most terrifying villains we've seen. If this is the end, I'm going to truly miss both HWR and Victor Timely.
Just imagine You, in one of those timelines (branches). If you could see Loki, holding all that existence in his own hands, what would you think? "Thats A big fucking God out there". I don't see anybody comenting exactly about this. That scene was so powerful to me that I started crying. Amazing.
I didn’t expect the timelines to essentially become Yggdrasil, the World Tree from Norse mythology, but it makes total sense. Loki, the God of Stories, after all. Sure, the MCU doesn’t kill it in every single show or movie. They don’t do it in the comics either. But when they hit, they hit. This was a y’all must’ve forgot moment!
I don't know if it's good he sees her as a six year old pruned child who never did anything wrong, or as a woman who hid for centuries from the TVA in apocalyses. I do know, he won't kill Sylvie.
No he's not waiting, he's fighting until inspiration of a third choice comes. Centuriues I imagine. What third choice, well the two are kill Sylvie, not kill Sylvie, is there another choice?
I think it was a very good episode and I would give it an 8! I still have alot of questions! I actually think that Kang set all of this up! When he spoke to Loki and told him do you think I would just let Sylvia kill me and laughed. I was like well I'll be damned!! I think that "He who remains" put Loki in win/lose situation were he forced Loki to take the Multiverse throne and save his friends! Now I wonder if Marvel also did this so that they can get ready to remove J Majors from their corporation! I think this version of Loki is done but I want to know if Marvel is going with Kang or Dr. Doom for the next super villain!!!
A fantastic character arc and the first time in a while that the MCU has completely stuck the landing. As much as I enjoyed Majors performance in this episode(esp vs Victor Timely), but I think Disney will untether themselves from him. And it's easy because we know that not all variants are identical, so Kang can be recast. And every appearance of the character has had some sort of closure so they can move on if they want to. That Variety article was 💩.
