LOLLIPOP CHICKEN | WEBER SMOKEY MOUNTAIN | WSM GRILLING MOD

This is a fun cook using chicken legs to make what looks like a big round lollipop on a stick. It takes some prep work, but is a fun project and have a great appealing thumbnail in the pictures. I used my modified weber smokey mountain 22.5 with the vortex. The particular modification to the smoker was adding a set of extra brackets 5 inches down from the top grate for a charcoal grate to sit on just like most grills. This allows you to use as a grill with all of the grill acessories which the vortex is one of. I absolutely love it.

Richard's BBQ Sauce- Facebook Home Page
/ richards-bbq-sauce-414...
Sauce I put together for this cook.
- 1.5 cups of vinegar based sauce. In this case 50/50 of Richards and Prossers sold locally in the Piggly Wiggly Gro Stores.
- 1 cup of red pepper jelly
- 1 cup of honey
- 1 Tb Texas Pete hot sauce
- 1/4 tsp Killer Hogs AP Rub (salt & pepper)
- 1/4 tsp Killer Hogs The BBQ Rub
- put in small pot and simmer on stove 30 minutes to reduce down and thicken.
Richard's BBQ & Sauce
June 8, 2017 ·
Summer time is approaching. Don't forget to stop by IGA, Bilo,or Piggly Wiggly and pick up some Richards BBQ Sauce or already packaged BBQ for that family get together, office party or picnic. If we are not in a store near you please contact me for a special order. Scott Germond 843 229 1465.
Prossers BBQ Sauce
I called Prossers BBQ Restaurant and asked how to aquire some of this sauce if you are not local. The only way is through US Foods which will be high priced. They sell it in local Piggly Wiggly stores in the PeeDee areas of SC. Sorry

Hey there Lew. You really need to do this one. It's a lot of fun. The work is prepping the chicken as you saw, but the cook is simple and easy. It's like eating a huge sweetnspicy chicken nugget on a stick wrapped in bacon. Can't go wrong. The kids would absolutely love it. The best drumstick ever after you trim out all of the small bone and ligaments. Nothing left but meat on a stick. Appreciate ya buddy. en serio

Hello Louis. Glad you like it. Everyone should give this cook a try. My second time from about a year ago. I meant to make them more red like a candy apple but forgot to pick up the red food color and cherry pie filling. lol Yea, Clemson better hope they get their QB back (looks like they will) Lucked out on that one. Gamecocks, not so lucky. Thanks-Phil

Hey good buddy in the deep north, I just open the pantry or fridg and yell out hey JIF, what can I put in this sauce? Never go wrong that way. TIF has earned his stripes so he made the intro. Lollipops compare to fish filets vs bonefish. Fun to make and good to eat, but you just want to lok at'em. LOL

Thanks for taking time to watch it, and yes I agree. That's why I do butts, ribs, and shicken. lol However, I was committed to it to see it thru. I think I remember telling Janet that day that if viewers could see what all we go thru to put these videos on. I don't just do weenies and a can of this and that. Like you, I really care about what I'm doing and want the video to be one of some substance, information, and yea some stupid stuff like humor laughing at myself. Doing the big cuts of meat is usually the easiest thing to cook. Doing kitchen cooktop recipes and cutting up lots of veggies or recipes with a lot of prep is pure work. I can do kitchen cooks with recipe involvement, but I'd rather be outside with Toby watching the cooker. lol Have a great weekend Jonathan. I see the snow is melting.

I totally agree with you. Love my MODDED WSM. A real go to cooker. I love the kettle, but the grill modded wsm puts the grilling grate higher off the ground, the grate tabs at the very top giving you a different grate clearance, then all the space under the large dome for additional racks and food when smoking. These lollipops were fun to grill and eat. Liken them like the difference between fish fillets and bonefish. Thanks-Phil

Man I wanted a bite so bad I would have payed money for one little bite. The color was outstanding, and I know for a fact that the bacon had to be awesome, on that chicken. Phil let me know if you think, they were better with cooking them with charcoal or do you think they would be better smoked, I have not tryed it either way. Like one big sweet n spicy ball of chicken on a stick. You really forget it is a drumstick. Then the bacon wrap is half the flavor profile too. You should do this one.
