For a long time I didnt feel the need to try Lomochrome purple but when it came in athe combo pack I had no choice. was a pleasant surprise the dreamy images I was able to get. I only had one roll but fortunately I had the skill to use it wisely and had many keepers.

Hey thanks my man, the secret is I shot 3 reviews in the same day about a month ago before corona. Im just making time now to finally edit them. years ago I used to shoot all my reviews outdoors and it could take 3 weeks to finish, I found the talking head parts really save time and only shoot outdoor if necessary. I just got a high end lapel mic in but man I dont know if nows the time to get all happy on camera about gear. its a balancing act

I was really dismissive of this film but decided to give it a try recently and was really impressed. Same with Metropolis. Lomo is finally growing on me a bit ... Good video!

Hey thanks Jamie, were on the same page. It took me over a week to finish this roll trying to use it in appropriate settings. maybe thats the secret, using wierd films where they fit best.

Reminds me Kodak aero chrome... maybe it’s that film because almost all lomo products seems to be kodak’s rebranded films

Hello To thanks . As long as you know the exposure triangle and basics you will be fine. Expect some mistakes and not all 36 frames will be keepers. Glad I got you fired up.

Nice video and some great shots. I shot a couple 120 format rolls of this a few years back, maybe 5 years ago, and got some interesting results. One film came out as expected - lots of purple - but the other one strangely came out blue instead of purple. Still looked good, but not what I expected. But those rolls were the old formula, and in the post today I received a roll of the new 'Petillent' version. Looking forward to trying it out when the weather improves.

Great video, Ray. I love me some Lomo Purple. I didn't realize it was all bought up now. Good thing I've got some stashed away. I think it goes without saying that it is most effective when you include a lot of greenery in your shots. The most negative reviews I've seen are from people who didn't. Also, I haven't developed any myself, but it sounds like it's pretty foolproof to get the 'correct' colors.

Hello Rick, thanks man, yeah its hard to mess up the colors when they arent supposed to look like anything in particular lol. I may tweak it to get a more pink green. right now with whats going on on earth im not buying anymore film so Ill probably stick to the rolls I have left and review past images.

Yo my man thats a huge compliment lol. Im shooting some tri x right now in a nikon F. I like trix in medium format but sometimes its a little too brutish for my 35mm tastes. I need to experiment with pushing it though

Hello Nicole thank you. It's interesting how sometimes my least favorite photo is one that others like most. You've prob seen that also lol. I shot a roll of Berlin kino also which had strong grain I will probably do a vid on that one next. Hope you all are staying safe in Canada.

Caucasian is pinkish :D BUT, when you're scanning it, you can play with color balance (warm-cold) and get a bit more natural skin - it also helps with color contrast overall (usually)

I have yet to try this one, I’m sure there is some subject that would really benefit from this type of coloring (I haven’t come up with it yet ahahahah). The film I do love of theirs is Metropolis. 😁

Hello yes the metropolis is special. I reviewed it twice. youre right, both of these films you really have to visualize the final image before shooting to get the best results. Metropolis is quite popular as its out of stock much of the time.

Great review! I'm shooting my first roll of this in 120 with my RB67 right now, metering at 400. I don't usually like special effects film but I got interested in this one after shooting some Rollei IR400 and searching for a color IR. Purple is as close as we can get! I'm really curious if it's sensitive to infrared and if putting an IR720 filter on the camera would do anything.

Hi Ray again, nice review. It did me thinking about fals colouring infrared photography and aero chrome of Kodak. It change also the prime colours the oppesite and purple tones? Except red. Can you take different ASA's from 100 to 400 on the same rol and the develop? Normaly you cann't do this for the ASA settings. So, is this possible? I like to purchase one or maybe more.

Hello LC again thank you. Actually you can shoot different iso on the same roll. What you will find is the 100iso will look 2 stops overexposed than the 400. I would also like to try some of this in medium format.

Thank you for the review of this very interesting film. I wonder how it would perform in a 3D experiment. These colors so remind me of 80s brochures which came with either red/blue or red/green 3D cardboard spectacles included. I guess the brain could ultimately render some monochrome-ish vision.
