Do Afternoon Tea next! They range from ~£20pp at museums, £40 at department stores and restaurants, and much more at hotels. Find the cheapest, traditional and most unusual.
A few years ago, maybe. Decent fish and chips these days are getting close to that in the northeast. A big, chunky cod or haddock can cost 7 or 8 quid, chips cost a couple of quid for a large portion... Some places charge extra for the box (over paper). You also need the mandatory can of dandelion and burdock to go with.
Thermal gaming, I'm with you on that I come from Bristol in the south west and currently live in the Devon harbor town of ilfracombe large cod and chips fresh of the boat that morning is only £7
The further south you go, the more expensive things can get. Londoners get whacked because of the higher rates of pay expected in the city. Up here in the north, people get low wages, can't afford to pay out so the prices reflect this. This may or may not be the truth but it is how it is perceived. You can get a truly great curry up here for a great price too! : )
I feel like the people in London don't even blink when they see vloggers nowadays, probably well used to it 'that fella over there is talking to a camera while waving a chippy bag about' 'yeah he's one of them youtubers, best to leave them to it really'
If you guys ever come to Cairo, Egypt then you should definitely try Koshari and Foul & Ta'meyya. Koshari is a national dish that's made of rice, black lentils, pasta, sometimes with chickpeas, a garlicky tomato sauce and garnished with crispy fried onions. Foul & Ta'meyya is the nation's favorite breakfast. It's a fava bean paste seasoned with a variety of spices and sometimes with tahini and served along side it is falafels but we call them Ta'meyya. They're both eaten in sandwiches for an on the go breakfast or the foul is dipped with balady/pita bread.
Btw! Don't know if you've been here, but if not, you guys need to come to Puerto Rico and try our delicious food! I promise, it's so well seasoned and yummy ♡ Try mofongo, arañitas, carne frita, arroz con gandules, pasteles, jamón con piña, alcapurria de jueyes, any fish of your choice, tembleque, coquito (a delicious puertorrican alcoholic beverage)... You won't be disappointed!
We asked for more James and you gave us more James. Cheers guys. New Zealand does fish and chips extremely well. In Wellington the capital we have Wellington Sea Market on Cuba Street which in my opinion does fantastic fish and chips. You guys have me craving fish and chips now!
Yes, do more please... I was born in London and miss all those food's. If you came to my city in Italy, you would definitely have to try, tortelli burro e salvia, pizza, and a typical Italian Gelato...
For me, the "take away" from the video is that in London, you can find excellent fish and chips that fit your budget. You do have to take into consideration that London is more expensive than other cities in the UK. I would hope for under 5 pounds (my keyboard doesn't have the currency symbol) but London does rank #5 in the world for number of billionaires living there and I'm sure they drive up the price of fish and chips for everyone else.
I live in London and you can get an ok Fish and Chips for 5 quid, and a pint of beer for 4.50 - it depends where you go. The local places like Deptford, Woolwich, Greenwich etc are reasonable, Camden is bloody expensive (but quality)
ok that random dark spot in the lower right corner of the camera at the end was really screwing with me. thought my monitor had a dead spot, lol. edit: also, if you guys come to Philadelphia to do something like this, it needs to be one of three things. Cheesesteaks (the touristy choice), Tomato Pie, or Italian Pork Sandwiches.
Compare British Japanese restaurants like Wagamama, Moonsha and Cosmo, to traditional Japanese food you'd expect to find / eat out in Japan. To be honest, you could do those comparisons for any British restaurant hosting a foreign cuisine. I think it'd be really interesting to see how they differ.
Visited London for the first time ever this weekend and stopped by Poppies because of this video. Had the most incredible fish and chips. Thanks for the recommendation boys!
If you ever go to Norwich try Grosvenor's fish and chips. They do all kinds of deep fried fish, all the traditional stuff and way more. The big mack (mackerel roll) is to die for!
Do more do more do more xD If you come to Norwich one of the best places to eat is the Grosvenor Fish Bar according to Tripadvisor. there's also a nice Caribbean restaurant
For UK-based foods, if it's in your production budget? Heck yes! Now, I'd also want to see your take on other regional dishes, like Texas barbecue or different curries, things like that. Good work, guys.
Come to Manchester lads, we have a lot of selection to choose from for a battle. Takeaway chicken restaurants... Fast food places... Fish and chips shops... Pizza places... Would be interesting to see where your favourite place would be to eat over here (mainly because I need to know new places to eat)
I disagree, They're not comparing something worth 100 times more expensive, all of the prices were pretty regular except the bog standard fish and chips which was a tad bit pricey
I'm from Bellingham, Washington: here you would want to eat a Bellingham burger from Fiamma Burger, spicy mayo tuna poke from Fairhaven Poke, mac and cheese with a beer from from Boundary Bay Brewery, and a pumpernickel bagel with lox and cream cheese from the bagelry, end it all with a cup of local coffee and a Mallards ice cream
Yeah this style of video was pretty good, definitely interesting and enjoyable, I feel like it was missing something though. It would be nice to know more about the places you're getting them from (a la "Worth It") or some other supplementary info addition to the video. Maybe have a blind taster meet the three who brought the food and do a blind taste test without knowing how much it's worth? It would be neat to see you guys come to Canada (Montreal maybe?) and do a poutine episode, theres a ton of different takes on it to try.
Awesome video!! Just one thing, the colour of your channel icon is really close to the colour of the "ad" banner and subconsciouly I ain't didn't click it video because I thought it was an ad
Come to Norwich! Its so foodie. Also great for vegans, I am not vegan but one of my besties is and I have so many plans for her when she visits. Also it would be nice for you to spend less ya! I know in Camden or anywhere central touristy access London its gonna be pricey. £2.30 for a battered sausage 4 years ago, my local is £1.80 rn. I know its 50p but it all adds up
The answer is yes you should do more videos of this style. The second bit -- you should fly me from Australia back to my home area of Pennsylvania, so that I can help the three of you do a Philly cheesesteak comparison. :-)
Yes you should do this kind of content more! Try Zwolle (Netherlands) or if that's a leg too far try Amsterdam take away (for 8 euros you can get a lot at FEBO)
I believe if you order a curry in London you pay separately for just boiled rice. London I'm afraid is just a rip off. Buy your fish and chips ANYWHERE else but in London. I lived in Chiswick for many years and I fortunately managed to escape to Cheshire.
i'm in australia and i've never had the rice included! it's always about $3 ($1.50 british?) but you can pick which type of rice you'd like. i think in like food-court type settings you dont pay, but i'd never eat a curry there
Oh, this is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy ... come back to Austin and let Jamie lead a barbecue tour of Central Texas! Lockhart, Taylor, Luling, Driftwood, Lexington ... OOOF!
Loved the video- but only 1 was traditional "fish and chips" like most would think. Would have been great to compare apples to apples rather than 3 different ways. Great vid though, and I think we'll hit Poppie's sp? when we're there.
