This was when LB was utterly superb. Acting natural and brilliant and extremely emotional. The characters were excellent and scripts brilliantly written.
Brilliant, love the series, love all of the characters. Bulstrode is one of them. He always joins in the jokes that Malcolm provided, like with Colin use the device that detects radiation and with the letter for the marriage approval. LOL
Shows that despite his demeanor here he has a sense of humour, like when at Tates retirement party he tells the story of how sidney had his trousers stolen by a corgi while on duty at Buckingham palace.
He also had a sense of humour, when the watch were pranking colin like having him sign the official Secrets act or asking the brigade for permission to wed he played along and acted as an adjudicator for them.
I love the look on Tate's face when he's told that the wheels have been stolen and, thus, the car cannot be moved. LOL It's like he's seeing his entire professional life flash in front of his eyes.
I hadn't realized that Cross was next in line for the Sub Officer position. I guess since Hallam had met his end, I guess Tate recommended him for promotion. Lucky lad he is to be filling John's shoes. Either that or John is just away on holiday. So I can relatively assume Cross was assigned as temporary SO for Blackwall Fire Station until he returned.
Actually he never become full time sub officer since he left in series 5, after john was killed on a shout Carole Webb was appointed to take his position until series 10 Geoff Pearce was sub officer.
Sidney Tate: "I WARNED YOU, KEVIN!!! I said, either that motor is out of the yard, or at least looks a bit more bloody respectable before the area commanders visit, or heads are going to roll - and heads ARE going to roll!" Kevin Medhurst: "Just let me explain, guv!" Sidney Tate: "I'm not interested in your feeble excuses, Kevin, 'cause I can't hear them, because you have ceased to exist! YOU HAVE BECOME A NON-PERSON! You promised me that you'd sort that heap out before the area commanders visit, AND EVEN THE LADY MAYOR'S DUE ANY MINUTE! Now, this is a working fire station, NOT A SCRAP METAL MERCHANTS! GET THAT EYESORE OUT OF MY YARD, NOW!!!" This shows how tough Sidney Tate (Brian T. James; AKA James Marcus) can be!
