If you like that then you will also like the class 450 and 444 south western railway which was originally south west trains. Part of the desiro city classes :)
When he was recording: 2 tph to Sutton (Carshalton) 2 tph to Sutton (Wimbledon) 2 tph to Sevenoaks 2 tph to Orpington 2 tph to Blackfriars 2 tph to Kentish Town 4 tph to St. Albans City
Great video and audio. Worth noting when the London Bridge works are complete, the express services won't pass through as they will use the Metropolitan Junction (links London Bridge and Blackfriars)
Matthew Taylor Yes spot on. Be interesting to see how the Great Northern trains will be when they start running through the new link tunnel at St Pancras across to Gatwick and so on too from Peterborough / Stevenage. Has been delayed as the route learning for both sets of drivers is taking longer than planned I know as well. The company reckon May onwards, but like anything can change. 👍🏽
It's not an artificial sound for safety, it's the thyristor, part of the electronics that convert the current for the motor www.railway-technical.com/trains/rolling-stock-index-l/train-equipment/electric-traction-control-d.html and the frequency just happens to make that sound
Excellent train video..... one of the best I have seen.... I know loads of people must ask you this question but I am genuinely interested.... what cameras have you been using?
The Southeastern would be much faster as there are express services from London Victoria. Thameslink on the other hand only do stopping services to Rainham.
The trains are from Germany, so like the ICE3 they have that loud traction noise. Even the velaro High Speed train sets from Germany in China make more of a noise then other fleets of High speed Trains in China. Very good trains from Germany, but all german velaro, Desiro trainsets seem the only ones to have this sound. Listen to a ICE3 and your see what I mean. Only German trains feature this unusal traction noise.
A shame that thameslink no longer has the awesome class 319 trains. The 700 trains are just plain boring and have no character whatsoever. The 319s had tons of character with those awesome motor sounds. The 700s just make a boring old whine sound. Hopefully London Midland and northern rail hold onto the 319s. Nice video btw
NiffIncentro At6/5 there are no companies called London Midland or Northern Rail. You probably mean London Northwestern Railway, West Midlands Railway and Northern.
