London Underground - 50 Things to See & Do - Day 11
Another day out in London and this time I was out to clear the remaining Northern Line stations and the Piccadilly Line stations on the branch to Heathrow that I hadn’t previously visited. Again London was busy due to another football match being played at Wembley and a number of demonstrations that I managed to avoid. This was the last chance I would have though to visit Colindale before it closes on 7th June until December for the station to be rebuilt.

When I was travelling through central London I managed to call at a couple of Central line stations I’ve previously missed out and decided to take the opportunity to visit while I had the chance. This trip was mainly about visiting stations rather than specific items on the 50 things list, but I did managed a couple such as seeing St Paul’s and finding a secret staircase at Bank.

The book contains details on each of the things I'm out seeing & doing. It’s very informative and even if you don't want to do them as I am it’s still worth a read.

In 1944, the late American talk show host Jerry Springer was born on the platform of Highgate underground station. His family were sheltering there during a bombing raid in the second world war. After the war ended, the family emigrated to the United States.

How about a seaside break somewhere, complete with fish and chips plus ice cream?

The underground doesn't reach that far and I live in one of the most central parts of the country so it's not very often I make it to the coast, but Sunday I will be in Cornwall and then the following weekend at the NYMR diesel gala so will be heading to the seaside one evening.
