My first video with the Charcoal Grill Grate for the LSG Pellet Smoker. I made some hamburger steak and fed it to some Californians! I also tested some Beef Rub and Sauce from Finch's BBQ - it was fantastic! Tell 'em the Texas Bluesman sent ya!

That James guy seems like a decent guy. Lol. Fun video. That charcoal grate was a good idea…takes away one of the biggest criticisms of pellet grills. Nice video, Paul.

Awesome video! The LSG pellet smoker is a great cooking machine and the charcoal basket is a really nice addition. B&B charcoal is the best and it’s all I ever use! The hamburger steaks look delicious and I actually never thought of making those. But I will! Nicely done! Cheers y’all!

Great video, I was interested in this option but worried about hurting the paint. Have you had any issues with this? What temps does the grill hit when using charcoal?
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn Год назад
Yeah - I saw that video too. 😀 I start my charcoal with the door open so there's never any flames licking the back side of it. Every time I've used the Charcoal, it's held solidly at 250 on the Tel-Tru. I feel confident I could "pour the coal to it" (pun intended..) and not hurt the paint. Great option and I don't need to have a Weber sitting around. I appreciate the question!

I have been looking for a video on using the charcoal tray and the La Plancha, I saw Chris's video on how he used the grill part and he promised one on the charcoal tray but didn't find it. also watched your video on using the La Plancha so now I have an idea of how it all works. might have to order both just to have options. I have the 42" which is a bit large to heat up just for a burger or a steak. Haven't watched your fireboard video so don't know if you talk about programing it to do an over night cook. I watched Chris's video and used the program to cook a pork butt over night which ended up taking about 17 hours to finish at 205°. Played with it the other day to cook a city ham which ended up taking more than the 3 hours I thought it would take. once I figure out how long it takes to double smoke a ham I think I can predict how look it takes to reheat to 140°.

Glad you found me! Programming works great, but usually on overnight cooks I just smoke it at 200-225 until I get up in the morning, then I go check it and adjust the temp manually to what I think it needs to be.

Great video. Thanks. Did you use the fans manual setting? Ball valve opened? I've been bothering Chris about cold smoking some bacon If you want to beat him to the punch.
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn Год назад
Thanks Chuck!!! I did not use the fan at all - just natural flow of the smoker. Ball valve? on the drain? didn't come into play at all. I'm going to cold smoke some cheese soon... does that count? 😎👍
@BigChuck525
@BigChuck525 Год назад
@@txbluzmn Cheese counts. If you can explain how to set the controls to generate smoke with minimal or no heat would be great. I am living vicariously though you until I get a call from Conroe to pick up my pellet 42. Thanks for the reply and keep putting out great content.

Thanks for this video. I asked for it and you delivered! I really appreciate you showing the initial set-up. I was having a hard time picturing how the basket would work. The one question I had was about the grease. Do you just let the grease drip all over the basket? I would think you would have massive fire flare ups if you did. Thanks again....looking forward to more cooks and videos.
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn Год назад
Yeah, the grease just falls in the coals. No more flare ups than on any other charcoal grill. You can't do everything with it that you can with a Weber Smokey Mountain or something like that, so the point of the grill was to be a wood smoker, but if you want that charcoal every now and again it'll definitely do it for you

@@alvinsmith8250 If you are getting the pellet grill I'd recommend doing it asap. It takes about 5 months to get it and the wait is agonizing but I believe will be worth it.

How do you go about smothering the fire when you are done? I realize you can shut the stack but I'd be worried about the heat back feeding into the hopper area and melting components.
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn Месяц назад
I just spread out the coals, leave the lid open, and let it burn down naturally.

Hey there, I see your felt stripping is missing from the bottom seal for the lid and I didn't think your grill was that old. Reason I'm asking, my LSG 36" pellet grill is arriving today. If that seal is an issue I want to do what I can for that not to happen. Thanks
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn Год назад
Hi Steven! Be careful not to drip grease on it. Hot grease will melt the glue. It's really not that big of a deal, though... has not affected the performance of the smoker one iota!
@kretieg

I have 20x42. That bottom felt is the first thing to go. Like 3rd cook. It honestly seals pretty good though. No smoke coming out of it.

I’d like to see more grilling with😊 stick instead of pellets on this grill. Looking at buying on but want to see how versatile it is as a stick pit.
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn Год назад
I'm not sure what you mean.... this is not a stick burner - just has a charcoal basket for direct cooking. You could put wood chunks on the charcoal if you like, but there's no "offset" functionality.
@ajp1027
@ajp1027 4 месяца назад
You said the air flow coming through the pit? did you remove the lid on the hopper? or is the fan running? just trying to see how there is air flow when the induction fan is not on?
@ajp1027
@ajp1027 4 месяца назад
did you leave the fire box out? or lid cracked?
@txbluzmn
@txbluzmn 4 месяца назад
The firebox has holes in it to the outside... the air will flow through the firebox and into the pit and out through the stack without you having to remove it or turn on the fan or anything else. Natural draft.
@user-fb2hv9cy7y
@user-fb2hv9cy7y 3 месяца назад
the bottom of the pellet hopper has the electronics in a box below it, there is a fan in the very bottom plate that blows air into that chamber which also opens into the fire box thru that fan. as long as your smokestack is open all the way there should be more than enough air flow to keep the charcoal burning. if you want to see what I am talking about remove the six screws on the side of the pellet grill and look in. while you are in there you can clean out any dust that might have accumulated. just make sure to unplug the power before opening it, just to be safe.

Just ordered mine a few weeks ago. If you remember, I had a the Yoder that turned out to be a total bust. Back to the waiting game for me, but totally hoping that the Lone Star turns out to be what the Yoder was supposed to. ANyway, thanks for your feedback on it. Love the drop in charcoal feature. Would have purchased that option if I didn't just get a big flaptop. P.S. Love a good hamburger steak also. Have you tried it with ground sirloin? Usually always get ground chuck, but for a hamburger steak ground sirloin is a win. Blabby post here. Heh. All good. Cheers!
