Never watched this guys videos before, I will be watching from now really helpful and easy to watch. Finally someone who comes across honest and is not force selling to us. Great video Ed.
Enjoyed the video and Eds input ,observations my only concerns is casting 4 oz leads on 18lb line with anglers opposite an accident waiting to happen . I no Ed has been fishing a long time and his experience and casting technique might allow him to fish at distance with no with no shock leader but i have real concerns about his advice to other less experienced anglers . Tapered mainline the way to go 12 too 40lb would be ideal .
Hi John, thanks for your message and you are correct, safety should be first. But the far bank in this case is 280 yards away and I have never experienced a crack off going that far.
Ed are you saying your punching out that airbomb to 120 - 140 yards As i would like you to show me !! i couldn't hit 100 yards with it in my review and i am doing big distances week in and week out at my big pit water.. the flaw i found is that when loaded due to it's size it was to light and was held back due to that long leader that caused drag on the airbomb going out .. !!
Hi Jon, I was hitting 120 yards with it on that session without issue. I guess if the wind was against you it would be a bit more tricky, if you are finding weight is an issue. It also depends on what you are spodding a heavy wet mix will allow you to punch it truer, compared to say a dry mix of maggots. The large Airbomb will also carry more weight than the medium one. I hope that helps, Ed
Hi my mate has a set of the Pro Logic element rods and when I tested them I was hitting about 140 with them, this was with a .30 mono line, 50lbs shock leader and a 3.5oz lead. Now keep in mind I normaly use a 13ft rod so am not used to a 12ft rod and I did not want to brack it so was not realy giving it loads.
Ed i was always told to keep both arms straight on the cast. I noticed your back arm is not fully extended does this not matter then? As it feels wrong for me anyway. But when im casting at range its just somthing i thought was important?? Thanks. Great watch 👍
It should be straight (or almost straight), and I'm probably losing a few extra yards, but I was just recovering from a shoulder injury and the 80 previous casts were taking their toll. However, I will say that I have seen many different casting styles over the years and what works for one doesn't always work for all, so what I will say is go for the tried and tested technique, but if it really isn't working for you then don't be afraid to tweak it slightly.
Send your bait over a foam box with wind to your back, try it. If you don’t know how, look it up, can show you the way, you can send to maximum lone length without expensive equipment
