Marc Davis's complaint about going "up the waterfall" was that the tension guests feel while ascending should be followed by an amazing sight. At Disneyland PotC, it's just a brief turn back to the exit platform. He specifically didn't include it in Florida PotC because he was saving an "up the waterfall" moment for Western River Expedition where at the top you'd be in a burning forest confronted by bandits.

Hey Rocco! So on the subject of the duck's feet - most animals don't see colour as well as we do. If you've ever experimented with "colourblind" images, you might have noticed that some otherwise bright colours often look more muted or blend better when you can only see two cones of colour than when you can see all three. You can look at a tiger and go "how can animals not see that, the orange is so obvious", but if you look at it the way that it's prey does, the orange looks just like the plains or forest around it and it really blends in. Basically in nature it doesn't matter if the colours actually match their surroundings, good enough is good enough.

awesome episode! havent seen country bears since i was a child (like 2 years old or something) due to how long it's been gone, would love if they could bring it back to disneyland in some form someday. thanks for continuing to air creepy old crypt, these videos finally got me to go back to disneyland again after 8 years!! it was such a great time and i cant wait to do it again :)

CBJ Vacation was permanent in Disneyland 1986 to 2001, with Christmas running seasonally. Magic Kingdom had the vacation show permanently 1986 to 1992, and Christmas seasonally until 2008. Disneyland would often close the second theater, and during Christmas in the last few years they would only change over one theater to the Christmas show.

My sister and I went to Tokyo Disney and the country bears there were absolutely hilarious for some reason. A treasured memory.

42:45 You're near spot on with the gag, Terrence (aka Shaker) does a little eyebrow dance to the drum beat, but he also shakes his hips to it too! His animatronic is meant to have really wide swaying hips, hence his nickname "Shaker", but in Florida it's so worn down he just kinda wiggles in place and you can't tell what the hell is going on with him. The drum beat is meant to emphasize his hip shaking. Florida added a strobe light effect to it at some point to hide the fact the animatronic doesn't actually shake that much anymore.

I don't know any lyrics at all either, but I would still instantly know if lyrics were swapped since it would make the music sound different than what I remember it as. Just based on how it would sound differently to what I'm used to. It's recorded like sound in my brain, not like English. But not in a way where I can just grab it and recite the lyrics. Happy Birthday has to be one of the very few songs I know the lyrics to as well. I don't know the lyrics to when you wish upon a star either, despite hearing it every year. I focus way too much on the music, instrumentation and everything else. I can replay songs in my mind no problem, but once there's singing, it's not nearly as defined and detailed as the other sounds that I'm imagining. It's like when you're trying to read something in a dream, yet everything else is vivid. If something is even slightly off or some instrument is missing, re-recorded or swapped, I'll instantly know it's not right. In that sense I can know songs inside out.

I think Disney should do A Gomer Life tribute at the hungry bear ride.

Haven't watched it all yet. My guess is that from underwater, ducks' orange feet look like either the sunlight or like autumn leaves on the water's surface. Maybe the leaves are part of the camouflage on the ground too.

Not enjoying singing and not retaining the lyrics of songs are actually connected- looking up the lyrics of a song or singing along to it while it's playing actually increases your memory of it quite a bit. I also don't like singing, but once when I was working at a fast food place we were so bored during an overnight shift we attempted to memorize all of "Stuck in the Drive Thru" by Weird Al, I still know most of the lyrics to this day

Just bought tickets to Tokyo DisneyLand and DisneySea. First time visiting Japan, also hitting up Universal. Would love to hear an episode on the Japan parks like you did Disneyland Paris
