If you are serious about working with ropes, you should note that this is not a long splice but tapered short splice. With soft laid rope like in the video it would be safer to tuck full twice before taper.

I'd call that a tapered short splice. A long splice has the ends spliced in in 3 separate places

As Mikko Snellman already commented, this is NOT a long splice, It;s tapered short splice -- which has all the disadvantages of the short splice and of the long splice. You may be good at decorative rope work, but you don't know basic marlinspike seamanship.

This isn’t a long splice, it looks like you’re trying to make a short splice without tucking enough times, you should have three full tucks, and if you want to taper, then at least two tapers

You don’t know what doing,this is something has nothing to do with splice,first at all you trying to do short splice NOT long splice,lol you need to learn what you doing
