Thanks for watching! I hope you liked this one! Also, did you notice I didn’t put music throughout? Did you notice a difference? Let me know if you like it with music throughout or not (or if you couldn’t even tell haha). :)

Hey! Just a heads up about KIND Laundry, they are actually not plastic-free since they use PVA so every time you use a sheet there are microplastics being released into the water system. Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to check that out. I recently found that out and will be switching to a laundry tablet instead.

@@katiemae9412wow that is just awful, thank you for letting us know because I was thinking of purchasing it. Now I think I will just stick to Tru Earth.

I got another brand of silicone bags that basically live in my freezer lol. I pre-batch frozen fruit for smoothies & have not noticed any flavor contamination. Such a great replacement for plastic bags, especially since I got ones that standup that fit perfectly in my freezer. I've only been moving to "sustainable swaps" for 2ish years so mostly have only done my bathroom. I 100% love my fabric menstrual pads (and even converted my best friend) and bamboo cotton rounds. I like my shampoo bar but some days use my leftover bottled shampoo when I feel the need for that extra "convenience" lol, my conditioner bar though is hands down the best conditioner I've ever tried: both are from Earthling. I use mostly oils from Mountain Rose Herbs for my skincare and they have the added bonus of almost all their smaller sizes (i.e. not 32oz+) come in glass. As I get ready to move out I have compiled a list of reusable & plastic free kitchen items to collect and am so excited to have a nearly plastic free kitchen! Being able to start from scratch and having the luxury of building the core collection before moving out, instead of having to use up existing items, has been such a blessing.

Hello! I know there's a lot of debate around this topic right now! Personally, I still feel comfortable using them because I haven't seen non-biased research to prove they're harmful for the environment. However, I'm not an expert, so I definitely am keeping my eye on this topic. Here's a great video that talks more about this topic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LD3JHC1lusg.html But of course, always use what you're more comfortable with. :) I hope I can get more clarity on this soon!

I use a lot of the ones you mentioned! Don't use the laundry sheets though because I'm unsure of how microplastics may come from them, so I use Meloria laundry powder. I also occasionally use the Swedish dish cloths but also just use towels ha. One I use you didn't mention is sustainable period products! LOVE my period panties & menstrual cup. Also use & love Hey Humans deoderant in a cardboard tube but no one seems to sell it anymore! 😭
@StrollingThroughLife
@StrollingThroughLife Год назад
Yay! I still have yet to try Meloria laundry powder (but I have so much detergent to get through haha). Yessss, reusable period products are another great one! That's such a bummer you can't find the deodorant! I wish Hey Humans was still at Target... 😔 Thanks so much for watching!

Plaine discontinued their hand sanitizer 😢. Gave up my bidet after some UTI infections. I now use a Peri bottle instead!

I LOVE my Leaf razor. I got a pack of 100 safety blades from Gillette for $12. That's around 66 shaving heads bc you snap them in half. Totally worth the upfront cost. I'm planning to get their derma razor too so I can stop buying eyebrow razors to shave my face
@StrollingThroughLife

Yay! I’m glad you’re loving! It’s such a great swap. The blades are definitely pretty cheap in comparison the disposable cartridges! Nice! The dermaplaner sounds like a perfect swap for you. If you end up getting it, let me know what you think of it! Thanks for watching! :)

So many sustainable swaps just make sense and make life easier! I have had two Pela cases and started to breakdown at the bottom where the speaker is. Has that happened to your case? It’s still the only case that I would buy but it’s kind of annoying.
@StrollingThroughLife
@StrollingThroughLife Год назад
They do indeed! Dang, that hasn't happened to me. Although with my old case on my old phone, I played with the case too much there... so it finally broke haha. But that would be super frustrating!

Hi! Still loving your content! Some of my long time sustainable swaps have to include: bidet & cloth wipes that I launder when my Guppy bag gets full of them (i never use TP anymore either! Got some friends & sis to convert too); body (brand changes) & shampoo (Lush) bars, then i need my conditioner the liquid one from Lush; Meloria laundry powder; husband's electric razor (them again, i don't shave much, bonus there, lol); period panties & menstrual cup; wood & bristle brushes (both on the skin & for dishes); the simple wood/metal pil remover (dual use, we use on the carpet to deep clean out all the hair from us & our husky, frequently!); ditto on the electric candle fire lighter.... Honestly, mostly I've stopped buying a lot, buy from better stores with intentional thinking, reuse (or gift) what I can, find multipurpose items, & keep using what I've got. Even if it's plastic, as long as it's not harmful. Parents gifted me some of their old Tupperware & Pampered Chef stuff when i moved out - use those almost every day.

I’ve made some videos in the past mentioning By Humankind’s hand sanitizer! It’s another good one, but it’s a gel vs a liquid spray. Although, it looks like it’s out of stock on their website right now. 😅

I was gifted a swedish dishcloth some years ago and didn't end up using it until last year. LOVE them, it's definitely cut down on the amount of paper towels used in the kitchen by a huge margin, and it's so easy to clean and eventually compost them.

Love your videos! I’ve been able to make so many awesome sustainable swaps from your reviews. Do you have any recommendations for reusable dusters? I know you have a video, but I wanted to see if you have any new recommendations! I’d be using a swiffer duster stick with whichever ones I buy. Thanks!

Hi! For what it's worth on the dusters, I have a couple ideas (no research, just what I've done or seen). Finding like an ostrich feather one at a thrift store, antiques/consignment shop would work great, especially if you have a lot of knick knacks. I bought the washable "wand" from Grove, works okay. But mostly... I grew up just using rags! Depending on the surfacejust spritz some water, dust, then certain surfaces like wood might need a little oil every so often to keep it from cracking. Also, pillows cases for ceiling fans. Kid you not, rags are still my fav way to do a deep dusting. But on a general at the moment, the wand works for good surface wipes. Hope that helps, too!

What are your thoughts on PVA?
@StrollingThroughLife
@StrollingThroughLife Год назад
I’m not an expert or a scientist. But from my understanding, there’s not enough research or evidence to say that it’s bad for the environment. I also don’t love that currently one company is paying for research. It’s biased and also feels like they’re just trying to get people to buy their products that don’t contain PVA. That’s my two cents haha.
