Unfortunately I was diagnosed w/ this condition back in 2006. It started in 2005 with burning pain & a swollen red spot at the lower, inner point of my right scapula. After several doctors and EMGs I had the major pectoral transfer in 2007 which gave me back some stability but, never alleviated my pain. I feel Like the tendon has since stretched a good bit allowing the scapula to wing again although not quite as bad as before the surgery. This condition has robbed me of a normal life mentally & physically as the only time I get real relief is when my arm is down at my side & im laying/sitting with my scapula flat against my back. Other strange happenings with this is it will affect my left side “sometimes” & the way I explain it is... sometimes my (whatever muscle) doesn’t want to work the front of my shoulder will fall forward allowing my clavicle to protrude. I have been a pain management patient (nucynta ER 150mg 2x day) since 2006 other than that I’ve been told by numerous doctors sorry there’s nothing else they can do for me. I haven’t really talked about this in a while but, I happened to come across this video so, I thought I’d throw my two cents out there.

I have winging of scapula as a result of neck injury c5 c6 c7, which happened almost 6 years ago. I m still in pain As per the therapist, my curvature is lost and has a winging scapula, too. My upper back develop knot often, and with little daily activities such as blanket folding, washing heavy dishes washing cost me a lot. I only had an x-ray done 6 years ago. I requested the therapist for emg ncs, but he rejected my suggestion. Taking physical therapy regularly for the last 3 years now, I feel burned out emotionally and financially as my career is ruined. What do u suggest me should I get emg ncs test done, or should I consult neurophyican once again? Did I make a mistake by rejecting the botox injection suggested by neurophyican early in the treatment? Please advice Thank you

I went 10 years until my left arm gave out cause of it! I had surgery and the pressure feeling went away and there are days that I feel that burn and poke. You still get tender from time to time but I can say the surgery took away 40% of my pain. It was worth it.

Hi Dan, I have to say that I am very impressed with your transformation video. Everything looked symmetrical in the video so I assume that the shoulder weakness is new. I have never heard of lat atrophy and I have seen a lot of stuff. Many things could cause this from a damaged nerve to a virus. I would suggest an EMG to identify if there is a nerve injury and maybe meet with a physiatrist. Best of luck!

Nerve testing such as EMG can be helpful in ruling out a long thoracic nerve injury.

Can symptoms mimic those similar to a stroke as well? Or just lack of motion
@lukecarmichael1588
@lukecarmichael1588 5 лет назад
In most cases of stroke, there would be more than just this single impairment at onset. The stroke would arise from a CNS lesion, whereas this is peripheral source. Now, someone who had a stroke in the past and has recovered may have this, but they would definitely tell you if they did. More context is need to properly address your question. In short, this impairment, on it's own, isn't a good predictor if someone had a stroke.

Hi Paul, I have the exact same problem just on the right side 100% paralysis of serrates anterior. After 4 months since the injury now. The neurologist said it a viral problem. But didn’t give any solution or therapy . What are the chances for full recovery? What can you suggest me? Thank you for helping me.
@OrthoEvalPal
@OrthoEvalPal 3 года назад
Hi, If it hasn't responded by now, it's likely it won't recover completely. Don't give up though, it can take 1-1.5 years for it to respond. I would give it more time. Work on activating your shoulder blades periodically. Taping can help and so could an S3 shirt. Best of luck to you!

I'm on six of seratus injury . 2 nd doctor dropped me and everymonth I have to phone everyday for a week to get t3s for the month. Doctors treat me like an addict and don't believe me ..I wake up with migraines in left temple but injury is under right shoulder blade. All accupucture does it hurt more..I'm at the end of my leash here ..I've tried pain clinics physio and steroid injections ..life is horrible .please help what can I do next ?? Even t3s are losing their effect again .andnimmsick of Lyrica and gabapentin that don't work either. Please any ideas at all ???

sorry, I can't really help you. Have you already tried stimulation current? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something will happen. Unfortunately, I have roughly the same story... about a year ago my right shoulder slipped while lifting heavy things. Since then I've been going from doctor to doctor and no one is really interested. I'm so angry at the doctors and I'm 21 years young and like you said this pain kills you. I go to sleep with pain and get up again with it. I'm depressed now because I don't do any activity all day long I always have a pulling or discomfort or pain in my right torso. I can not anymore ...

@@Haggard540 well they told me if I had the surgery I wouldn't have push back strength and that's more important to me than the mobility, and sometimes miracles occur. The surgery is permanent, the injury may get better on it's on. Miracles have happened, I'm just more scared of an accident in the surgery and losing even more mobility
