In process of upgrading my Specialized Turbo Levo S-Works with the Cascade Components TURBO LEVO LONG SHOCK KIT that will increase the rear travel to 165mm with a 230x65 shock. Also put a 180mm air spring in the Fox 38 fork. Would love to know if anyone else has done this.
Would be good to see more content on hardtail bikes that people can actually afford. £5k+ is way more than most people want to spend. I'm sure I saw somewhere that one of the best selling EMTB's is the Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro which is still a lot of money, but is a quality bike at a slightly more accessible price. If like most people, you're just doing a bit of weekend trail riding up local green lanes and footpaths, you don't even need a full suspension bike. Like Top Gear, you can't just be driving Lambos, Porches, and Ferraris all the time, sometimes you have to review a Ford Mondeo, or a Vauxhall Astra 🙂
Just bit the bullet for my first emtb: Fantic XF1 Integra 180. It’s a 2019, and a former demo bike from the Fantic brand rep with only 500+ miles. The goal is to adapt my riding style to big travel ebikes, eventually buying a Pole Voima. Go big AND go home…faster! 🎃
Another Pete here. I have a 2023 Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay on order. Should have it about the end of the year. I bought it to avoid the shuttle to get up the mountains in BC and WA state. Waiting to see how much the weight of the bike changes the downhill experience.
Thanks for the super nice on my Nukeproof Megawatt 👍. Love the show and content keep it up! I don't know if it's just me but I definitely feel more confident on a longer travel bike on the steep ups and downs. But I suppose a lot of that travel isn't necessary in certain situations, but to me an E-MTB is for exploring off the beaten track.
Hey Jason! Thanks for submitting your bike! It looks great! Long travel bikes will always feel more confidence inspiring. If you use your bike as a bit of an uplift bike for downhill trails then long travel is perfect. 👍
Long travel Mtb are awesome ! I have a Norco Range VLT 180mm front 170mm rear coil Shox. With 900 wh batterie and a very Good shimano EP8 i can ride every where and every thing without bad Hope ! The bike is huge but i m 1.90m and 100 kg rider its perfect for me !
I bought a Fantic EMTB last year and big mistake. In the US, Fantic offers zero support and won't even reply to my emails. None of the dealers have any parts and no one will fix anything. Every broken part I have to order from Europe from some 3rd party site and takes weeks to get here. Fantic won't even tell me where to get spare parts. Stay away from Fantic!
Brakes for me are always gonna be Magura if I have the choice. I like Ohlins suspension it's what I had on my Z1000. but I like the Cane Creek rear shocks as well.
EMBN, that Haibaike Nduro8 you mentioned have an option for the range extender, but it doesn't, Haibike only make extenders for the Bosch motors series All-mountain.
I am definitely buying a long travel ebike! More reserves even if I don’t need them! I would love to see you guys testing the Fantic XEF 1.9 Super Enduro with 190mm of travel front and rear...
Currently Running Dengfu E-10 with 160/160 but I am upgrading to 170mm or 180mm front fork 2023 ZEB, & prob running Cane Creek Double Barrel Rear, or Fox Float X2 the $699 Rear shock. I| want a downhill Ebike running tripple crown 40mm stanchion 200mm front fork.
long travel ist best for emtb! you have a motor so weight and climbing qualities are not so important and for riding downhill, long travel is king anyway
You mention the tires being 'super sticky', which ones are they please? Will they work well in muddy conditions or only sticky in dry, rocky places. I've got aTrek Rail 29" & ride in Lakes District a lot or Yorkshire Dales, but need something that works on mud or wet grass was well as the usual terrain. TiA
Really interested on your opinion on the Fantic XEF 1.9 FACTORY. Thinking of purchasing one in the next week but I'm a bit worried on reliability and longevity. The price is $5000 and it has about 20 miles on it... And do you think it can handle some downhill?
What I would like to see in future, considering future development in battery technic: A long travel downhill oriented tour bike with huge battery capacity (for cross Alps) and weight under 20kg. And I don’t like these mullet bikes as I am 195cm - I want a full 29er. But up to now I appreciate every news regarding long travel bikes.
We're in nature and i guess it's prone to these diseases and other stuff. Look at the large salmon rivers in norway and lice spreading that's led to closing the rivers for years and having to kill off many generations of Salmon. Really sad reagrdless of what you do, and not easy to deal with it either.
