I have watched many videos on how to load a quilt on a long arm and yours was excellent, clear information. I also liked your explanation about the floating method. Thank you!!

So glad you did this video... perfect refresher on how to load on one of your machines prior to coming up to do some quilting. Your presentation style is so easy going yet the 'how to' and 'why' instructions are direct and to the point.

Thank you for this very helpful video. I hate to admit that I have my red snappers for a couple of years. My new to me machine is a few decades old and I have been pinning because that was how the seller taught me. Between this video and your previous one, I actually am ready to install my red snappers and will start this weekend. Your tips are very useful and appreciated l I will be picking up some different sizes for clamping from your shop. I am excited to watch your other videos.

These Red Snappers I bought from you are probably one of the best investments I have made for loading my quilts! Pinning became more and more difficult with my arthritis and I cannot tell you the number of times I pricked and in a couple of slip mishaps actually sliced a finger or two with those huge pins. Arthritis does not go away, it only gets worse with time. These are helping me to be able to continue quilting for a lot longer than I originally thought I could. I use the same method you showed, with the palm and a firm, quick push. They have loosened up enough that I don't have to bend them quite as much as I did when I first started using them.

I have had my red snappers since I got my Millie in 2013, but I did not ever get around to loading them onto my leaders until last year when I got new leaders and my bliss system from you, lol. I finally changed the leaders, (fear factor) after I watched some videos on that, and then I jumped in and put the red snappers on (finally ) I wish your video on how to do it was up then as everyone has their way of explaining it, but my buddy in the great north had a excellent video on installing and I figured it was time! So I want to say that your video today has helped me a great deal on loading; so even if you think you know, you can still learn more from this video. I almost didn't watch it because I thought that since I have had them and been using them that it couldn't help me, but see, I was wrong. Thank you for these videos, they really are helpful and you can always pick up a few new tricks. Also I do find it much easier and faster to load this way!

When you first clamp down and go to the left, Why is it important to finish clamping to the right? Going to your free motion 101 now!

You need to have the whole thing secured down so it holds all the way across. I hope I understood the question properly

Great video - I use a clip on system too, and I roll the back bar leader all the way out and wrap it backwards on the pole so the rod/pocket is on top of the pole, then snap the clips on, and reroll: presto, the clips are on the correct side and I don't have to move bars.

Lauren, thanks for the informative video. I’ve been debating getting Red Snappers, but I wanted to see a loading video first, and other videos haven’t been helpful. If I didn’t have arthritis in my hands, I’d buy them today, but at least now I know. I can see why you like them so much!
@BoldNotionQuilting
@BoldNotionQuilting 2 года назад
Yes! I think they are really helpful for those with arthritis since you can use your palms instead of fingers and less repetitive motion with pins. Let me know if you have any questions im always happy to help

I have a handiquilter Amara. My leaders already have a channel, about 2”. Do I still need to sew a smaller channel for the rods, or will gravity be sufficient for then to hang in place?

Question: Do you hang about an inch of the backing over the rod for when you add the snapper? Just wondering how much overhang you had before you added the clamp portion.
@BoldNotionQuilting

I roll it over just to the edge of the rod so it's consisten I don't let it hang past that

How do you load Minky and Cuddle backs? The snappers don’t work with that thickness. I used to have snappers but when I bought my new Millie, I never got around to it and have realized that some of the quilts that I’ve done wouldn’t work.
