Again this is so interesting to see and hear how much goes into building a Swale! I had no clue at all and you do an excellent job explaining the strategies and methods!
Good job. I spent a Saturday a few weeks ago volunteering me and my tractor for a local Christian school that is trying to refurbish a disused baseball field. I spent the day tilling, dethatching, and dragging a chain harrow. I enjoyed it and it was for a good cause. Hopefully the sons of a friend of mine will have a place to play baseball soon.
You are a very informative gentleman as to different equipment that is available to do many different jobs. The only bummer is, and please do not take this as a negative comment against you, the average guy does not have the capability to acquire all this equipment to do his own projects. But I thank you for what you do show in your videos. You present them very professionally. Thank you and have a great day.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes of course one can’t purchase all the equipment we show. However, we think that our variety helps you to choose where to spend your limited budget. For example, in this video, we discuss the choice of 1025r vs 3046r on this blade. By watching last year’s similar episode with 1025r, you can have a good idea about the compromises. From another angle, the laser system, while not ‘free’ is much less $$ than you might think. $2500. And we show a cost effective hydraulic upgrade to integrate it with your tractor. So, we think this system IS within reach of some of our audience. Overall, it is hard to balance our desires of providing helpful educational content while maintaining realistic budget. I hope you can understand the challenge!
Saw a guy use a skid steer the other day. He took out a bucket width down to grade. Then put one wheel in the center and cut the swale in. The he did the same on the opposite side. When finished it looked like it would be very easy to keep maintained. Very cool set up on the box blade.
Sounds like a good operator! Yes, one strip down the middle, then slopes via wheel in furrow on each side makes a very nicely shaped swale…especially when smoothed up with the power rake!
Tim thanks for sharing this video. I need to dig a swale along my property line. mine will need to be about 200 ft long. I can’t afford one of those laser controlled box blades. But I think I’ll have to rent a laser to check my grade and work from there with a tiller and box blade.
Thanks for pointing this out! Disappointed to see this. Apparently we have some settings wrong. We’ll get it fixed. We put an incredible amount of effort into this content…it is frustrating to see that we have published 4 episodes incorrectly…including one with incredible drone shots of the TS10’and wedding.
Would an orifice restrictor(s) on each cylinder smooth out the motion? Would need to be fairly small, maybe 1/32" diameter, to slow down those small cylinders.
We have tried similar (flow control valve). Does not really help much since it takes so little oil to move the cylinder. I suppose I could try a larger diameter cylinder.
Fun video! Can I ask a question about the Maschio hydraulic offset flail mower that you have shown previously? What is the range of cutting heights that it can cut - the manual doesn't tell. You mentioned adjusting the cutting height, but I didn't notice you saying what height the choices were. I have the same question about the Maschio hydraulic sickle mower that you showed - does it only cut one height? What height does it cut? Thanks!
Tim most building codes on a 30 foot span want a 3.75 inch drop for drainage in a 3 to 6 inch pipe so if you take your laser level and you don’t see that amount of fall then measure 40 feet and if you don’t see 5 inches off the rear of the buildings and in between the front corners if they are for example 20 feet apart and you don’t see 1.25 inches of fall from 12 inches down the foundation then it’s all sloped incorrect
I’m actually surprised RU-vid or some other anti-American/anti Christian group hasn’t complained the use of any word resembling “Christ” appeared on the screen. Nice video Tim! Another fine job with the family!
It's sad when we live in a nation under God and there are so many people against God. I know I'm not the only one that sees this country falling as people keep removing God from everything. I personally enjoy watching Tim doing work for the Christian Community to help them thrive and continue God's work. I do enjoy watching all of Tim's videos.
