Big thanks to my buddy Homer. He always send the best stuff.
It’s hard to beat the value of this high end quartz if you are shopping in that segment.

Hi, you didn’t show the most amazing feature of this watch. Pull out the crown, wait 60 seconds. All the hands go to 12 into power save. Push the crown back in at any time in the future, doesn’t matter how long, the hands will revert back to the exact time and date for that future time. Its the coolest thing I have ever seen on any watch. Impresses even people with nil interest in watches!

I fell in love with this watch after watching this video. Did a ton of research after it posted and had to buy this watch. I have a few regular quartz in my collection the most expensive being a Tag Formula One Chrono. The V.H.P. blows all of my other quartz watches out of the water. I'm so glad the I was able to find it on the grey market over Christmas. Was on sale for $680. Rob is right when he says it's worth $1000 or more. Side note: It comes preset from the factory in Switzerland. The time and perpetual calendar are set at the factory the day it's was QC'ed. All you have to do is correct to your current time zone and the calendar and time (+/- 5 sec ayear) are good until the battery dies. It has a warning system to let you know the battery is going out and while replacement is occuring it still keeps perfect time on a reserve power system so you don't lose a sec during replacement. Amazing!

Do you still love the watch ? I’m on the fence with the white dial... Fir the last 6 months I keep saying.... I absolutely love the Quartz movement in the watch.. power saving... anti reflective.. anti magnetic... anti shock...... Love the looks..... But I don’t know why I haven’t bought it ... I have had mechanicals in the past and I’ve learned to hate setting them every day... This watch answers all the questions I have I guess my only concern is the thickness and wearability... I don’t like heavy thick watches... So what’s your thoughts on the wearability on the watch.... Thank you

I’ve owned my VHP for about seven months now and the accuracy between my Citizen’s tower signal, my cell phone and the VHP are really too close aligned to note any difference without some level of technologically based comparison.I’ve shut down the VHP a few times in the interim yet it instantly returns functionality to the cell phone’s signal and date with absolute accuracy ( within my own functioning perceptional abilities) It’s become my daily wearer most of the time, though I have a couple of dozen watches to choose from both mechanical and quartz and from Rolex Explorer down to to Casio. Yet, there’s just something about this watch that continues to intrigue me. The blue dialed version with the slightly smoked numbers catch light under differing light conditions in such a way that sometimes I’ll become mesmerized just playing with the light! Love this watch. A big thumbs up to Longines for this one in my opinion.

I have the silver version on leather strap at 43mm. The case and dial are flawless. The second hand lines up perfectly with the indices. This is such a good looking watch. It has no jewels because each hand is operated by a stepper motor. The movement has a three coils instead of one. There is no gear train to wear out.

I purchased this watch based on this review because the watch is very readable at a casual glance, which you have to do sometimes when people in meetings are talking and talking and talking. I also had Rob at TheStrapSmith make me a custom band that is outstanding and cuts the weight of the watch dramatically. Highly recommend this watch/strap combination!

I'd sworn I wouldn't buy anything but automatic, but the Longines Conquest VHP makes me thinking of making an exception. The biggest negative may be the case with. I have a small wrist and 40mm is about the max diameter, but I might be able to slide in a 41mm. (Update: Longines offers a "Ladies" Conquest MHT at 36mm, which would also work for men wanting a smaller diameter. The only difference between Men's and Ladies' is the case diameter). Prices: Shop around, there are reputable dealers online that DO offer these watches brand new at $200-300 USD under MSRP, such as Chronos24. Considering the technology, including a lot not mentioned in the review, this is a technically sophisticated watch!)

I have the GMT model in white (it looks way more clean and classy than the coloured versions), it's brilliant! Worth the extra $$$ IMHO. The perpetual calendar is amazing, it automatically adjusts for daylight saving wherever you are in the world and the accuracy is phenomenal (4 months in and it still is spot on with the atomic clock). A steal at around US $1350. Some reviewers have criticized the fact that it has only 50 bar(metres) WR, but this is NOT a dive watch. The only drawback is the abysmal adjustment on the metal strap, you only have the option of full and half links-this is very poor, but I am lucky that the jeweller got the strap to fit perfectly. Any future stretching of the strap and I will be forced to purchase a different one. I also have a Citizen eco drive which has a great strap- 1mm or so adjustments on the clasp, so simple. A shame Longines didn't do something like this (at no extra cost).

When you replace the battery, does it require time/date calibration? I heard you have to send it in to longines for that calibration.
@dvpemberton
@dvpemberton Год назад
It's fairly straight forward. You just unscrew the case back and then remove two 0.4 screws from the battery cover. The battery change has to be completed within 24 hours of the battery removal to maintain the perpetual calendar. There is a really good guide by 'DavidM' on the HAQ VHP Watchuseek sub forum. Just make sure you have the right screw driver and use something none conductive (like plastic tweezers) when handling the Renata380 SR936w battery.

@Marcquise White @Larry David @primecreator I bought this very model from Jomashop nearly a month ago. It came without the plastic between the crown and case which is used to insure it stays in power saving mode. It was running, and not set to Switzerland time, but Brazil time. It had obviously been used. After further examining the watch, I nevertheless decided to keep it. I was on the road, and at this point I had no faith in Jomashop providing me a refund promptly without a hassle. When will my battery die? Who knows. Will Jomashop fix an issue promptly if one surfaces? Would you have any faith in their warranty after they sent you a used watch, advertised as new, and confirmed new and in stock over the phone? Just putting this out there as my honest experience as a first time Jomashop customer. Never again, as you might understand. I see their name tossed around all the time, often by people who have never dealt with them. Everyone should be aware that these companies can even mention themselves in the comments, and then respond favorably to their own query.

The Grand Seiko is just a few seconds off in a year and Citizen has one with 1 second a year. Yes, they are more money. 2. I like Quartz Gshocks, always loaded with features. I believe high end refers to the movement, not the placement of the hands or the watch overall. I think you can have a seconds hand realigned if you think it's off, though, so that shouldn't scare you away from what is among the most accurate timekeepers that can fit in a wristwatch.

I really want to like this but for some reason, it just leaves me cold. Very boring but I can't put my finger on why! Also I don't think there's any excuse for such poor water resistance in pretty much any watch. I think the smart crown only allows 50m water resistant. I don’t swim with my watches so it’s not a biggy for me. However, I’m with you on wanting to like it. Sometimes I think it’s a great watch to quickly glance at and the know the time. Yet other times I think it’s a little sterile. I tried one on recently. It felt very solid and well made! My wrist is 6.5 and I d love to try 41 mm model. Do you think it will not fit well?
@markn3586
@markn3586 3 года назад
It is all subjective Ivan. I have a 47mm and a 44mm that I wear. However, my vintage watches that are 36mm or 38mm seem to look better on my wrist to me. Modern perception is that a 6 to 7 inch wrist should have a 38mm to 42mm watch. Following modern convention you are ok. Lots of things can trick your eye also. A 42mm dive watch with a big bezel has a smaller dial, so the watch looks smaller. Watches with darker dials also look smaller. Also a larger watch with short lugs will wear smaller also. If you measure from the tip of one pair of lugs to the other a shorter lug to lug length will make the watch wear smaller. So, in actuality the 41mm VHP should be just fine. That being said, Longines also makes a 36mm VHP. I plan to try both on when I go look at them. I'm interested in the VHP because my Bulova Precisionist gains a minute per year which is against the stated 10 seconds per year accuracy. It's a 42mm diameter watch.

Thanks for the answer. I was looking onto 36mm Ladies watch but there is no way one can tell the difference apart the case size. Still, not sure about buying women designated watch. Sadly lockdown prevents me from checking it in real life

From my understanding most Longines in that size are classified as unisex. I measured my wrist last night and I'm a 7 inch wrist, so I'm evaluating my options. Im hoping to go check out some Conquests this afternoon or on Friday. I'll let you know. From what I can tell the 26mm has the same features that the 41 and 43mm versions have. Its just in a smaller case.

Thanks Mark. Yes, they should be the same in principle. Looking forward to hear your feedback.

If it weren't for those hideous catching crown guards, crown design and case thickness, I would own one. For me anyways, Longines has so many "almost" there designs.

Z-Collector if you know how to reset the perpetual calendar you can do it yourself, it's like a regular mechanical watch service, you would never do it yourself to avoid messing the watch up

@@z-collector7518 You can change the battery yourself, no need to send it to Longines. The watch hands will point to 12 o'clock when the battery is low and you have 6 months to change it. The perpetual calendar will be fine provided you take out the old battery and replace it within a 24 hour time period.

Citizen offers the same if not more on a lot of models for $300-$400 and also you don’t have to send it back to get resynched. Power save mode automatically happens on the Eco Drives - throw it in a dark drawer and watch it stop moving, take it out and it comes alive again
@BosonCollider
@BosonCollider 2 года назад
Citizen makes some really incredibly nice models. But the only equally good quartz movement is on the chronomaster which is more expensive and only sold in Japan so service & warranty coverage is bad outside of Japan. But ofc being ecodrive does gives the chronomaster an edge which justifies the extra price spent on it if you live in Japan and can get it serviced easily. Looks wise it depends on exactly what aesthetic you prefer. The chronomaster is a bit dressier while this one is a bit more stealthy.

50m water resistance is really a downfall to be called as an "sports watch", no jewels mean no serviceability.

Imran Chowdhury how does one service a quartz watch? I know jewels in autos but how do they do it for quartz and is it necessary?
@imranchowdhury4972
@imranchowdhury4972 5 лет назад
@@Shino2600 I am not sure how much you know about quartz watches. Check grand Seiko quartz watches which has jewels and having jewels means they are serviceable. You have to service the quartz watches after 10-15 years which is not acceptable for cheap quartz pieces. But for a brand like Longines and having a price tag of sub 1k I was expecting this movement serviceable.

A few years ago, on a British/French school exchange, a native French teacher of English explained to me the pronunciations for many internationally known French names: Watch Brands, Cars, Wine Labels, etc. But one has to remember that the French are mad. Who else would eat horse and frog legs - snail burger anyone? Although the French inhabit a land only 20 miles from our shores the average Brit communicates more freely and readily with our American cousins than with the sometimes rather peculiar French geographic neighbours. Yes, I know ‘Longines’ is a Swiss company. Tickety Boo. Thanks for getting back. Great to hear from you RR.@@RandomRobReviews

Nobody cares that red indices on white dial looks awful? Nobody cares that “swiss made” text in place of indices of the measurement tool (that watch is) looks like horology insult? Nobody cares that second hand does not perfectly hit the induces? And all of that was objective things. Shame on you, Longines designers, you ruined a very good idea and movement.
@Starstreak170
@Starstreak170 4 года назад
The second hand does hit the indices dead on every single time. Pause the video when the watch is perpendicular tho the camera, I didn't see any misalignment. The movement has Gear Position Detection which resets the hand positions after a shock or exposure to a magnetic field.
