Chris, Thank you very much for the video's. I really like that when you ran into an issue it wasn't edited out but instead you showed possible fixes to the issue and resolved the problems as they came up. Most companies would have edited out problems so you would get the idea that your machine will be delivered with out any flaws. I spent about 6 months deciding on the CnC machine that I wanted and in the end I purchased yours. Your website is what sold me on purchasing from Sienic labs. What I liked was the process that you go through when deciding what machine you want and what accessories you may want to add. With most other companies they do offer accessories but do not explain what they are or why you might or might not need them. Your site walked me through each step and offered and explained the use of each accessory. Your website is set up so one with little knowledge can confidentually purchase a CnC machine. 5 stars to you and your site builder. I will be getting my 30x30 by the end of next week and am looking just as forward to building it as I am to using it. Oh , just an example of what I found on other sites, one machine I looked at suggested if I purchase the machine I should also purchase a stiffy for it... never could figure out what a stiify was...lol.
very well done instructional video! it made the assembly of my longmill less daunting. i appreciate the time and effort that went into the every aspect of the machine from the packaging down to every meticulously positioned bolt hole for ease of construction. i can tell just how much thought you and your team put into its design. Thank you.
I am in the process of moving. I have my order ready to go, as soon as I get to my new home I will be placing the order. You have made the entire process interesting and make it seem accessible. I am retired and am excited about some of the things that your amazing machine will make possible. Thanks for all the information.
I have to respectfully disagree. This 6 part video series, showing the assembly of the LongMill by the developer is thorough, thoughtful, meaningful and gave me both an understanding of what went into the design, as well as enough personal resources to help me with what I will need to do to service the machine as I use it over time. The pace of demonstration was perfect - it matched what I was going through - and was exactly what I needed to be sure I was doing the right step at the proper interval. Bravo Sienci for every resource you have made available. Keep up the great work !!
All that hard work to end up at 9:46 "we are not going to be making anything precise with this machine" has thrown the machines capability's down the toilet.
i appreciate all the time you put into the video. You never know where the extra detail will help a newcomer (like me). I am looking forward to my new machine. I have a couple of newbie questions. Can you point me to a resource for aligning the machine properly rather than the quick method you used? Also I have read on the Facebook page where users have fasteners loosen up and was wondering if loctite is a good idea for bolts that will not be used for adjustment purposes later? Thank you
The written instructions go into the extra detail that should answer your question on squaring: resources.sienci.com/view/lmk2-table-mounting/#mounting-your-longmill For loctite use, feel free to use blue loctite where it makes sense. We ship all fasteners with spring washers to prevent backing out but blue loctite can also do well to ensure long-lasting connections 👍
I think it's better to move gantry all the way to the front, and screw front Y axes, and they move gantry to the back and screw back Y axes....than you will have all squared... :)
There are many ways to mount your machine that will work. The way we show in the video is what's worked for us. We're glad you got yours mounted and squared. Happy carving!
To start out, your first projects likely won't need a perfectly flat surface so I instead wanted to show a bit more about how it looked to make a first project. Surfacing is something I'd definitely recommend you do afterwards though 👍
Overall this last video in the assembly series is lacking and should be replaced with much more details. 1. Provide details in the video to get the machine squared. 2. Provide details on calibration. 3. Provided details on surfacing 4. Provide details for tramming. 5. Provide details on zeroing with the optional equipment that you sell. 6. There may be additional things but as a newbie, these I happen to have found are needed through watching and reading other sources.
@@SienciLabs I thank you for the reply. The point I was making is the video series needs to include the additional items. While there may be a video here or there. A document to be ready here or there, it should be that the "getting started" series of videos should include these additional items.
All your videos about assambling are so bad, the camera should fallow close to your hand and parts, at least check how nice and detailed close to camera showing openbuild guys
