For the record, the line saying that he and Ken haven't seen each other in 20 years is only in the english version. In the japanese dialogue he just say they haven't seen each other in a long while.
CvS2 being a canon event makes Terry's ending with Ken so...cathartic. My ONLY gripe is Terry wasn't in his Garou outfit to suggest the passage of time and his convo w/Ken. I love that they're just bros being bros and having the most casual chat after their match.
SPOILERS!!! I played through Terry's story last night, wondering who his rival battle would be. When Ken showed up, and they were talking about how they hadn't seen each other in 20 years, i had this big dumb grin on my face. Then the actual fight started, and by complete random chance, Jazzy NYC 99 was the song to come up in my vs Ken playlist in game. In that specific moment it felt like something in the world healed. It was weirdly emotional not gonna lie.
During all the interations between Terry and Ken in Arcade mode, I had that “big dumb grin” on my face too. It felt incredibly cool and kinda heartwarming.
I had Ken's SF4 theme playing for me. And it really made the fight feel like Terry was helping Ken re-ignite the fire within. But the "20 years" thing did get me a bit emotional because they could have easily just made Terry say, "I've heard of you, you're Ken, right?" But nah, these men are HOMIES!
The fact that they reference Capcom Vs SNK 2 makes me really happy. To say Capcom loves this character is the understatement of the year and the interaction between Terry and Ken of Terry encouraging Ken to bring his all the next time they meet was very endearing, these two really have history, and it really makes me excited for Mai join the cast and what collaborations can come from these two companies. I just hope Mai’s Arcade ladder ends with her and Chun-Li bumping into each other and just talking.
Buster Wolf, Power Geyser, Crack shot. Terry is the ultimate street fighter that is meant to be. This guy even has Ken’s respect to give him advice on to overcome his downfall.
At this point, having World Tour be the only way of unlocking a character, and it being one of Max’s favorites, is the only way he’ll ever play World Tour.
SF6 genuinely is some of the best instances of labour of love ever in an industry which has lost so much of its passion (predominantly the multiplayer side).
I see the whole CVS being "canon" as like an Akuma in Tekken 7 situation, where it's not like the snk universes and sf universes coexist, but more like characters from the SNK franchises happen to exist in the SF universe and similar events to the original games happened offscreen. Cool ass crossover
I'm actually glad Ken didn't throw the hat. He's in a very mentally compromised state during this era of SF6, and from a characterization standpoint, sharing a little of his feelings was probably incredibly hard for him to do. As much as I would've loved to see them having a much longer heart to heart in Pao Pao or something, him giving the hat in the way he did makes a lot of dramatic sense.
I also love the "we have the same fire burning in us" as a nod to practically being the same character evolution... at least that is how it translated to me. This story mode made me smile so much 😊
He doesn’t even know of its his style or not though. He was super hyped about it, played a few minutes and then quit because “it doesn’t make him better at the game”. Which is an interesting reason since i don’t think playing through Tekken 8’s story with special controls made him better but whatever.
Terry’s Arcade ladder ending with a fight and talk with Ken was incredible and the fact that they acknowledge their friendship in CVS2 made the fight all the more exciting for me. These two characters have too much in common with each other to not fight but also interact with each other.
I have to say: This is some of Shinkiro's best artwork _ever_ . I've actually never been a huge fan of Shinkiro's, but it is absolutely fitting that he did Terry's artwork in SF6, and it is _spectacular_.
I'm glad the first clip is Max figuring out one of Terry's trials and being like "That's weird!" because I was basically doing the same when I was doing them. At first glance, Terry's combos seem pretty straight forward. But, the spacing required to hit certain links and the timing on certain cancels are SO weird compared to most of the other characters' stuff.
Max just wanna say I enjoy your videos. You inspire me to want to play rock Howard and I will keep doing my best to improve in fighting games and do my best to make friends in this community. Thank you for all the content you created over the years.
I wonder how much motion capture they had to do for Terry vs the average SF6 character. I imagine a LOT of Terry's specials have to just be hand animated.
Takes some getting used to. Though it would be hilarious if when he's talking normally, he's super fluent. But when he uses his special moves in a fight he says it in the usual broken english.
It wouldn't have killed us to do the ol' 21416+P motion for Terry's Power Geyser. But on a different note, this stuff makes me want Street Fighter 6 more and more. It's just...my want of the game kind of clashes with the fact that the PC version has Denuvo.
Am i insane or does it sound like a creaky door is opening during terrys super. I keep looking behind me every time thinking someone’s opening my door LMAO
Everytime I see Terry's Continue look in this game, the more I worry that he's just got a stitch reopened or something mid-fight. That is way too much blood for either Terry or the opponent to lose with how they fight in this game.
22:20 that's why I think Terry's default skin should have been his MOTW appearance, especially since COTW is coming out so soon. I understand why it wasn't, his classic appearance is more iconic and easier to sell to an audience as a guest in another IP
