As a forklift driver for 20 years of my career including freight distribution yards, you get the centre of gravity for lifting awkward vehicles right every time, that’s not easy as you make it. Love watching how someone experienced approaching loads. Love to see these vehicles being saved, I know a lot still will be crushed but can see you save anything of value and not just think of the dollars you will get for the steel.

Is side shift an option for the forks on your loader? Our forklift has it and it adds more dexterity for the operator. Your program is one of my favorites. You should challenge Vice Grip and Pole Barn Garages to come down pick a rig and see who can get it running and driving the fastest and furthest. The 3 of you together would be very entertaining

* Caught ya Silas ! The Pilot House Dodge Truck Cab Is The One With The Window That Goes All The Way Across The Back. Not the 5 window cab which was the stock cab. I own a 55 C3H Custom Cab Pilot House with The Hemi. It's the 171" wheel base with an all steel M37 troop carrier bed the previous own made.
@AdventuresMadeFromScratch
@AdventuresMadeFromScratch Год назад
Actually pilot house refers to all 48-53 Dodge B series trucks and is a reference to a taller cab than the previous style with larger windows. Dodge dropped the “pilot house vision” slogan for the 54-56 C series trucks, although many people still call them pilot houses due to their similarity to the B series.

I have the original Cab brochure here in front of me Silas and it states : New Dodge Truck Pilot House cabs. Give you Full-circle visibility. You will drive better because you see better ! New wrap around windshields ... New wrap-around rear window etc. I'd be happy to take some pictures of my brochures if you have an email I can send them to. Anyway love your channels man !!!

Theres a guy in my town that has restored a crew cab International and a late 50s Studebaker pickup. Both bring back memories from my childhood when my uncle would run around town in one or the other. The Studebaker had a hook latch on the passenger door. If three of us were in there whoever was on the passenger side sometimes took a tumble making a left turn. Eventually he cut the cab off and made it into a convertible but the popo didnt let that last long before they made him stop driving it. Fun times back then, today i couldnt imagine how much trouble youd get in. 😂

Back in the seventies I used to work in a breaker's yard in south Wales. The boss had a similar expression: "You can't keep them all". We used to concentrate on dismantling and dealing in parts rather than crushing whole vehicles. Back then many mechanical and electrical parts were interchangeable between different model and often between different makes, unlike today's single-model components.

Love your videos. I never really understood what all happened at a salvage yard to recycle the metal. I was wondering why the tires and upholstery does not have to be removed or burnt out before the cars go to the shredder. Is this all incinerated when they melt the metal ? And how do you get paid if some of the weight is not metal ? I would like to see a video where it follows the whole process to conclusion. Thanks again and keep up the great work that you do.
