Nice bike! It's good to see someone building stuff that isn't just $200 worth of crap from gopowersports thrown onto whatever chassis. If you ever build more, it's worth messing around with a belt clutch; it's a lot more fun to drive, you can gear it taller, or keep it geared low and dump the clutch. Either way, good stuff and nice attention to detail! I cringed a little seeing those perfectly good wrenches sacrificed as frame segments, but it looks clean! I have a similar project I've dubbed "the Trash Bike" that's gone through 6 evolutions, from a simple belt clutch and bicycle chain on an old huffy frame using a modified 3 piece crank as a jackshaft to a "2 speed automatic" using a belt clutch, two chains, a freewheel hub, and a modified centrifugal clutch tied together on a from-scratch tube frame. 5 horse Honda engine sends it as fast as you would want to go on bicycle wheels, and was torquey enough to grenade two sturmey archer gearhubs before I went to the freewheel! Maybe someday I'll figure out how to use a camera and document the trials of developing my trash bike. Keep up the projects, there's not enough people on here making truly unique stuff!

Love your vision and making parts out of throw away junk. Once in a while you come up with something that's totally innovative and new and fresh, that's what this is.Who would of thought to turn tools into actual working parts and not only that but to make it all function and look great at the same time. Gotta hand it to ya bro, when you don't have huge amounts of money and build things like this, is super impressive. Nice job bro!!

Let me tell U sumthin Oldman, what U have done w/this Stingray is So Damn Awesome!! The "Craftsman" ship is 2nd 2-none! It looks great, all the extra touches are well thought out, can't wait 2-C it run like a deere? Anyway, U set the bar pretty high w/the quality work U have done Ole man, The only bike that may? Have U beat is: The Snap-On bike from O.C.C. Perhaps? They can build a better Stingray? I'll bet on U! When it comes 2 that 1 off, U got my vote! The best I've seen.

Really messed up that bike. Did you ever think that Briggs pull start wouldn't just "F" the whole thing up? Just kidding. Replace it with a piece of broom handel sized dowel stained red for that rod flavor. Maybe a piece of copper pipe or pvc. I love yere work. Too cool!

Remind me to never loan you a Craftsman end wrench! lol I think this is one of the better OCC stingray builds. I think that you have built a vintage chopper bicycle. Really looks good. It goes about as fast as I would want to on what is basically bicycle. No put down intended. It would be great for running to the mini mart for something. When you were saying about your "tool compartment" and putting in what ever you wanted, I thought I'd put my weed and pipe in there. My first bike was a Honda 50 scrambler and it had that ankle burner pipe too. Your ten speed handle bar exhaust pipe is pretty cool. All around excellent work! Thanks for sharing. (Anyone ever tell you that you sound like Bob Odenkirk?) Saul.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and I agree on the speed. It was rather sketchy at the speed I got up to which I guessed to be around 30mph. It had more, but I didn't...LOL
@zedee2000
@zedee2000 3 года назад
I didn't see what cc this engine was looked to be going pretty fast more than my bike can do. I'm less weight than this guy and a smaller engine 3 horsepower single speed 80cc phat Moto bike with Governor bypassed. Up the steepest hill I tried a little less than a 45 degree angle. I'm pedaling wide open with throttle to the floor. Get the bigger engine or more gear higher tooth rear sprocket for pulling hills and taking off from sitting still. Glad I didn't go with a 49cc bike. Also riding on grass on the side of the road the 80cc engine helps pull me through the rough spots any less and it would be struggling. I see you work hard on your channel to answer everyone's comment or question your doing a good job. I'm younger than you and I got to figure out how to make a RU-vid channel one of these days and learn how it works. I'm not on any social media.
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan 3 года назад
Welcome Ze Dee. The engine on my bike was a 5hp Tecumseh motor from an old snowblower. From what I gather that translates to 195cc. I never rode this bike on any hills or grass, only at the airport that you see in the video clips and a short ride down the street in front of my house (after notifying the police...) As you can see there are no pedals on the Gadget Bike, so it wasn't street legal for normal riding around town. Sounds like you have a neat bike started. If you have a smart phone, you can use it to make videos to upload to RU-vid. Enjoy the journey, and thanks for stopping by.

what kind of clutch set up did you use for the chainsaw engine on that , I have a weed eater engine that I want to use on a bicycle . I appreciate anything you may be able to help me with .
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan 7 лет назад
The clutch that I used on the chainsaw motor setup was the original chainsaw clutch, but it wasn't strong enough for a 190 lb passenger and it would slip the whole time I was riding it. I suppose it could be modified with something a little bigger? i have seen some weed eater engines used on bicycle builds, but they usually set them up with a belt drive that is only engaged once you get the bicycle rolling with the pedals. One of my next projects will attempt to do something like that with another vintage chainsaw motor.
@051570orion
@051570orion 7 лет назад
Ok , yeah I believe I have seen a few videos of motorised bicycle's that did that and even one that made a sleeve for a Max torque clutch .Thank you George
