Have you ever searched for Superstitiona donensis? Apparently they can be found in Southern California. They really are cool little scorpions

Many times. They even show up in a video I did in the past similar to this one. My favorite US species.

I've found them in Beatty NV too, usually under old railroad ties, on valley floors.

I love these videos and wish my own state, Virginia, were home to scorpions. How badly did that little baergi get you at 8:11?
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy 3 года назад
I knew someone would notice. It didn't get a proper sting in, so it just felt like a prick. Virginia does have Vaejovis carolinianus in the very southwest corner of the state.

@@GeneralApathy I sometimes consider driving a few hours to try to find some V. carolinianus. Cute little guys.

I know that the hairy scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis) has venom that’s not deadly or dangerous, but man their sting is not pleasant at all. I got stunned by mines while trying to sex it. What happened was I tailed it with tweezers trying to see it’s gender, and my fingers got a little too close which then made it start grabbing my fingers and then I let it go with my tweezers and then it reared up and gave me the sting of my life. Right now my thumb just feels a bit num but I should be fine. I will now try to be more careful and wear gloves.

Excuse the question but what do you do with those you catch? Do you keep them in captivity or do you release them?
@GeneralApathy

I release the vast majority of them.

Hey, so probably a dumb question or two, but are you an blue light to find them? Do they all glow like that or just some?
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy Год назад
It is a UV flashlight that I am using. All scorpions except those in the family Chaerilidae fluoresce under this wavelength.
