5:32 Crematogaster species, likely warming up their brood. Can’t narrow it down anymore without a microscope.

sometimes the tarantulas look like a disembodied hand crawling up out of their borough

Hiking on mount Diablo in California is where I saw my first tarantulas in the wild. At the time I didn't know that they were all probably males looking for mates.

We have a lot of Aphonopelma Iodius here on the mountain side by my house here in northern Utah. I love tarantula's and I think that species specially is gorgeous. Funny thing is I hate wolf spiders or black widows. Small fast I don't like but love tarantula's. Thanks for sharing

Tarantulas start to hang out at the entrances to their burrows this time of year? Daytime or nighttime best to find them? Aphonapelma Iodius is Nevada/California's common in desert areas, yes?
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy 3 года назад
When it starts to warm up in the Spring, yes. Nighttime is best usually. This is the most common species found in California and Nevada deserts.

@@GeneralApathy Im so jealous, I live in the UK and keep some scorpions and tarantulas (not centipedes, they're devil sausages) We have one endemic species of scorpion, Euscorpius flavicaudis and they're found on the wrong side of the country :/
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy 2 года назад
@@haydnr01 This population of E. flavicaudis which you are referring to is actually introduced. The British Isles have no native scorpions.

I'm currently owning a stone centipede. I had two but decided to be dumb. Opened the deli cup it was in on my lap. It ran out and I freaked out and swiped it off. Don't know where it's at or if it's even alive. But the other one is doin fine. Any care or capture tips? (Lithocampus fortificus)
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy 3 года назад
There is practically no chance that you will retrieve the centipede that escaped, sorry. As far as care for the other ones goes, Lithobius just need perpetually damp, loamy soil and to be fed small invertebrates (soft-bodied is best) every couple of weeks or so.
