@@mediokay508 That kind of joke has always been incredibly common in cartoons for children. The low point where it was infrequent were the 1970s. Some of them are done by the writing team to make sure the network censors are paying attention (they usually aren't), part of it is as a bonus for parents watching alongside their kids or for the kids to realize after re-watching when they're older and having an _extra_ good laugh.

I can see why some wouldn't like it if they're attached to the old versions, but I ultimately don't see a problem with it either - the old versions still exist, and when you do a reboot, you're allowed to write the characters how you want them to be, which means they can be as similar or as different to the original(s) as you choose. So yeah, I get why some don't like it, but I approve of it being done at the end of the day.
