I know it's hard to find a comprehensive and reliable source of information on Rope Solo Climbing. That's why I did my research, bought equipment, experimented and adopted a way to teach rope soloing. I like to refer to my complete online courses. My reasons are the following:
-It is dangerous to have partial information about security systems
-I need an income to continue my mission to teach and innovate
I would love to help you find answers to your questions! I suggest the following solutions:
-An in-person course (blissclimbing-...)
-An online course (blissclimbing....)
-A subscription to my Patreon (I answer on the platform) ( / blissclimbing )
I prefer to refer to complete courses. The courses should answer 99% of your questions and show you more things you haven't even thought of AND that are essential to being effective and safe! For any remaining questions, I answer every question asked by my clients and try to post everything on the hidden private Facebook groups reserved for buyers of online courses so that all buyers can benefit. I also very often add content to the courses because there is so much to say and teach on the subject AND I still learn quite often! You can always ask your questions on the “regular” public Facebook rope solo groups, but you won't get all correct answers and probably nothing complete. That's why my suggestion is to take the courses!! Looking forward to seeing you buy a course: you will be happy with your choice!!!

I got a good advice here: @ aidanbennetts: "Yes definitely loctite and also put a little marker on the hex head screw to see if it is always in place" 😀😀😀

Nothing like seeing some gear not how it's supposed to look, especially before going on rope. What are the advantages of using the open rings to simply using the closed? (if you don't have a tool with you? (caving)

@@BushCampingTools I replace my belay loop for better function and strength with my Lead Rope Solo Climbing setups. I need to open the ring, put over my tie-in points, then close. I use blue loctite and it works for me 100%!! (Never came loose again)

Since that happened, I put some blue loctite and it has been fine since then!

petzl advises strongly against loctite as that might make your ring open a ring permanent (never to be opened again) There is a rubber ring on the screw, that ring is also colored. This has two functionalities: first it holds the screw pretty much where it is, secondly when you see anything of the colored ring, you need to retighten it (or have not screwed it in properly to begin with, if this is the first time putting it on) so basically it already has a marker and already has a feature to keep it from losening for rather long Just check your gear before you head out or when you come back, including the screws on any petzl XYZ open type gear, then you won't need to bring the hex key with you haven't had any of my ring open, mgo open, easyhook open, micro swivel come undone over the last few years tbh

Petzl recommends the Loctite if required here: also I use the blue so it is easy to disassemble when I want to. I like it! I believe if you see the rubber ring during inspection, it has to be late and you have been exposing yourself to danger already. Mine was « just loose » when I checked it. Note that I probably put 4kN on my Ring Open sometimes. I am not easy on it! @@YannCamusBlissClimbing Oh interesting... they sure changed the phrasing of their text about usage of threadlockers since i last checked. Or it might be different on the european page 🤔 Fair enough than, i stand corrected. They phrase it much more mildly now with "this is suited for long term usage"
