You play fighting games for hundreds or thousands of hours. It's totally reasonable that they cost more than just another 4 hour campaign. Im not the type of person that is offended by the idiot trap microtransactions.
You misunderstand! This is just Tekken 8's design philosophy: Gambling! I am looking forward to seeing more exciting gambling/gacha mechanics. Hopefully we'll get a chance to win more low res outfits ripped straight from Tekken 6! Gambling HYPE!
I’ll say that the Lars T6 outfit looks detailed. Still, they started turning the fights into gambling starting with soul Calibur 6. Once they picked up the team soul members, that philosophy carried over. It’s all knowledge check, frame trap, 50/50 spam. And it’s not that you’re knowledge checking highs and lows. It’s that you’re in forced 50/50s and most people are getting by just pressing buttons because their characters allows it. And since this game trained newer players to just press buttons, Lars players will never get into stance again lol
A video by a small channel called ‘GamerFox24601’ popped up on my recommended tab. A video called ‘Bandai namco - a terrible company no one is talking about’ or something like that. I immediately thought of you and just clicked on it ending up watching the whole thing. Holy sh*t does their incompetence go much much deeper than I’d ever realised. We should be nervous for Tekken as a franchise right now.
@@azizkash286 yea thats also a point i tend to forget all the time. i would be fine with those monetization practices if it was a f2p game. but the fact that it isnt reminds me of why i stopped playing t8 half a year ago lmao. i will probably check it out once heihachi drops since he was my sub in t7 and my old main (lee) isnt as fun to me anymore as he once was
Harada and Murray deserve zero trust after what they pulled with Tekken 8. At best it just shows their words and promises are worthless since they have no power. At worst they are also scumbags who are fine with scamming people.
I completely understand your feelings and frustrations with the game. That being said, I just wanted to say that I started playing Zafina and I've found your videos immensely helpful.
"Let's turn our game from a transcendental journey that combines learning, patience, strategy and persistence that (at times) culminates in sublime moments of blissful triumph into something that appeals to the basest of human emotions with only the most superficial gambling dopamine hits before it wearily veers into a spiritual cul de sac of existential dread and nihilism." -Bandai Namco, apparently
This was my first Tekken, played it until July. This will also be my last Tekken. Old enough to see where this is going. The amount of people I played with battle pass or shop cosmetics on was mind baffling. Bandai will fully focus on milking every last penny this playerbase has to offer instead of focusing on core gameplay mechanics/balancing. The way I see it, Harrada is cashing out with T8
They are cosmetics. They have zero effect on gameplay and most of em are crappy. If you are upset because you can’t play dress up instead of Snake Edging your opponents into the ground you have misguided expectations.
Based as usual. I find myself buying old games these days instead of the latest big releases, I just don't want to deal with the cognitive dissonance I get from engaging with the new release. Pre-order bounces with cut content from the base game, day 1 DLCs, 3 different versions of the game on release, fuck all that, fuck playing Warhammer or the latest big release I'm gonna go play classics that I missed, I already finished Half-Life a few months ago and I just bought Deus Ex.
Sir i wanna thank u for being honest and brave talking about this game and its devs. They r actually everything u said about them, these scumbags destroyed a franchise that has been great for so many years and i really hate how every other big tekken RU-vidr bending their asses to bamco, its a shame that even a guy like the mainman is bought and can’t say anything negative about this game.
Please dont stop covering stuff like this and dont stop calling them out and being brutally honest. So nice to see someone in the Tekken, nay, Gaming Community overall be so based and have so much integrity. I wish more people would use their head and stop bending over to scummy busniess practices and companies. Will definetly keep supporting you! One of the most sane and based individuals in the Tekken/Gaming community!
Did you see PhiDX's video about his experience in the SF6 Sajam Slam? He was so surprised by how it felt to play Cammy and how much better SF6's online experience was than T8's that he's considering branching out to SF6.
It has been nearly 5 months since i "quit" Tekken only coming back on two occasions for offline versus and online lobbies with two of my T7 "mates". I am still coping and hope that there will be a Season 2 that actually focuses on winning players back. Its sad i went as far as buying hardware (Arcade parts) with the sole purpose to play Tekken on it. I am not much of a videogame person past Tekken so i am glad i am still sitting on a 5 year old PC.
I'm just waiting for the day they introduce tickets to play ranked. Run out of them when you lose and wait a whole day to get two back or buy more. Its gonna be Tekken Revolution all over again but this time teamed up with Fast food ads, in game currency, in game store, low quality and overpriced battle pass and sneakers from the real life Mishima Zaibatsu. Amazing.
the online in t8 is the worst experience i’ve had out of any game in my life time. cheaters everywhere, the people that truly want to play and learn get pushed out by salty and toxic individuals, no wifi filter, no ping filter, no way to get longer sets easily, the lobby is just there to peddle shop crap, hell i’ve been so disenfranchised by video games that i haven’t played a game in years, t8 was the first game i’ve purchased in about four or five years. the last ones being t7, destiny 2 and sf5. I stayed out of this console generation because all the games are monetized trash. I got a gaming laptop so i could use it for personal, work and play the game i love… tekken when i have time. Two weeks after purchasing tekken 8 the shop came out, the drama over banning customs came out, the massive wave of cheaters and realization that their online code and network is somehow worse than tekken 7. if i could get a refund on t8 i would. i do not support games that do these things and people will say oh look at the prices of sf6 or mk1. guys picking a lesser evil isn’t a good justification. i refuse to support games at all if this is what it is about. so if that means i never play video games again so be it. it’s a shame the only positive that came from this is just finding streamers, youtubers and other people that i want to support despite of how tekken 8 is. i hope you stick around frame despite of tekken 8.
I’ve kinda quit TEKKEN without even consciously thinking about it… When taking everything into account it just doesn’t have the same spark that T7 had at all, and the devs/publisher absolutely suck.
@@Hand-Doe well it's certainly entertaining and it's far from terrible. But yeah expecting Citizen Kane quality from a video game story, let alone a fighting game, is silly
Once you're over the novelty stuff like heat dash being able to turn moves like a demon paw into a +5 on block launcher just sucks so much fun out of the game. Another thing is the health system. Taking insane amounts of chip damage feels like you're being punished for something you typically can't even avoid, but what's worse is having a match flow not work in your favor. You launch someone and combo them, then they launch and combo you. You both did the same thing but the player who got launched first now has 70% of their health with rage and you have 40% of your health with no rage. The heat system looks really cool in trailer and it's really fun when you first learn the game but past that it's actually super damaging to the flow and depth of the game.
This is the "based" Harada that everyone respected. At the end of the day, he is just another cog in the machine at Namco. No matter how much he may "roast" the "haters" of twitters or say stuff like "don't ask me for shit", it isn't going to change that.
Teeken project team took 7 years to make a stable and balanced game and suddenly they have changed game machinecs and moves, so its out of my mind that we are paying for full game or just under developed games with lots of bugs
Frame gotta tell you that you are the most respectable channel I fuck with! Thank you for being yourself always, and not taking bullshit. You stepping away from tekken because you disagree with its shitty mechanics and predatory practices is huge. Not many would have the balls to do that. I will still follow your channel even tho I mainly followed it to hear your thoughts about the game I used to love. I too have stepped away from tekken for the same reasons you have. Only I hate the mechanics More so in that game and refuse to play the way they are making everyone else play. Fuck tekken 8 for now. Hopefully they get it right with time if not welp time to go touch grass 🙃 🙂 take care brother!
0 views in 55 seconds. framewhisperer fell off smh. overused jokes aside: watch people defend and glorify those monetization practices and call others, who dare to voice their opinion, poor.
@@Rhyds86 cant blame them tbh. many people did simply just get used to those monetization schemes or dont know the alternatives if they are younger gamers. others are just conditioned to defend their favourite franchise despite obvious flaws and malpractices. people want to cling to the stuff they grew up with and refuse to accept that their franchise changed over the years. i dont want to say that those people arent allowed to like this stuff or spend their money however they want but those people need to realize that their behaviour is contributing to the downfall of the integrity and unique aspects of the game series that make them fall in love with the game in the first place
Personally I reckon they experimented with putting lootboxes in the game and just abandoned the idea due to lack of items to actually put in it. To make lootboxes work you need hundreds of worthless items to fill the boxes and a few rare items people actually want. No one will buy hundreds of lootboxes to get the basic asset 'ball'.
I think now is the perfect time for game studios to give us a better 3d-fighter-alternative to tekken. We want "real" tekken back without those weird mechanics and game design choices. So why not give us that.
First recycled outfit, then battle pass, and now loot box?! God, I hate Namco more than Konami. Also, It's hard to believe that Cruis'n, Hot Wheels racing game, LEGO racing game, F-Zero, Top Gear (Top Racer in Japan), Crazy Taxi, Flatout, and even Atari's Sprint, Burnin' Rubber, Shutokou Battle is back but Ridge Racer isn't. I would call Ms. Pac-Man a Midway character, not a Namco character. because Namco abandoned her.
Yeah I gotta say the monetization of items is getting pretty out of hand. That's why I believe they revealed Heihachi this early in the game. Unfortunately this is the most current Tekken game and I do play it still, but I completely understand why players and other people are any to stay away from it. But going back to the Heihachi thing, I think they are in desperate need of profit to make this game survive. Which if your selling point is suppose to be "nostalgia" with particular characters and costumes that's a huge red flag...
I replied to another comment with this but I'm going to post it here because I think a lot of people miss the subtler point: if a company wants to achieve X, they set out to implement something far past X, and then when people complain they "walk it back" to X. Dumb players feel like they've achieved something and their celebrating drowns out the smaller number of smart players who realize what's happening. The notion of "if I'm playing for 200 hours, Bamco should extract money from me for 200 hours" is the ultimate goal of the company because if you argue on that line then you have stopped protesting the notion that you're a cow to be milked and are instead quibbling about the comfort of the nozzle. To put it more succinctly: Why is it okay for multibillion-dollar megacorps to trick people into becoming gambling addicts? Why can't the game just be made with respect for the people who play it? It's easier than ever for games to be made, and the only reason why they have such huge budgets is due to bloated advertising budgets and the preconception that everything can appeal to everyone and make infinite money.
I think bringing Heihachi back that early in T8 lifespan is a sign that the game is underperforming for Bamco projections. You don't burn your hype joker 6 months after the game release when the goal is to keep the game successful for 8 years. Your analogy of T8 gonna be a fireworks is accurate. They used T7 hard acquired success to do a final robbery with T8 even if it's at the cost of damaging forever the franchise. T7 11M selling copies + dlcs proved that the game had a already successful philosophy. Directors at Bamco are just completely greedy piece of cake with no love for the franchise
That's the best case scenario, but the person who datamined these assets said they were in the same folder as all the other visuals for the Tekken Store.
It earned enough profit to warrant a sequel, so T9 is coming for sure. However I think T9 is going to be even worse and there wont be a tag3 game as tag games are too complex and hard to dumb down to the casuals. So they will continue with T10, but that game will be the end of this franchise.
It will lol they ruined their game, dumbing down the game to “appeal” to casuals that don’t even play this game, and adding all of these micro transactions, I also heard that this game is gonna have less characters than tekken 7, they basically said fuck the legacy players and that’s why pro’s are quitting
Imo its likely its lootboxes. Why would the items u get in the battle pass have raritys like common, rare, etc. And it just makes sense for a company to recycle the items to make some money. I mean they are in the game and the players cant get them? Give them a chance to buy them but then again the most scummiest way u can think of
Tekken 7 basically kept like 50% of its playerbase for most of its existence, which is a great feat. Tekken 8 lost like 90% of its players. Bet you if the predatory non-sense didnt happen, alot more of the casuals wouldve stayed. Just like how there is alot more Street Fighter 6 players still playing compared to T8.
Oh, the 4th DLC is definitely Anna, they are gonna make a ZZZ like trailer, to "appease" Anna mains, and slap all of tekken community with this in the coming Christmas.
I don't think people "forget", its more like adapt. Awareness of history is more important with each new day and most people realize this. I believe it to be more a question of how much they are willing to put up with before they act. unfortunately the inevitable act or response by the masses in history has a bad habit of being severely underestimated.
THIS! Dude, I feel the same way. So much so I've gone BACK to playing T7. Tekken 8 is just not fun to play to me. And the main reason for that is the Heat system. Every match in a nutshell: Ok...Let's get all the HEAT bullshit outta the way when the round starts. And if we're both alive before the round is over, then we can play some Tekken. That's all it is. It's not about out playing your opponent anymore. It's about doing Super Saiyan bullshit every match.
Welcome back! I understand the game is frustrating but it’s still fun when you’re not playing rank I don’t even play rank anymore I’m excited for the last dlc character.
@@FrameWhisperer You can in non-campaign modes if the pattern a thing that matters for you. If you're talking about their attitude well Titus is an unusual kind of Ultramarine.
Great to see you again my friend. Actually wanted to let you know that I took the advice in your last video to heart and quit tekken 8. I somehow deluded myself into thinking I could still enjoy this state of tekken if I just ignored the balance entirely and would not get mad or frustrated about it. Needless to say this was never going to work. So thank you for showing me the way sensei 🙏🏼
I say this as a story fan (or a part-time one), but Heihachi coming back is really depressing to me, but of course, fans will dismiss it. The fact that he got renewed in under a year should tell you the team has no confidence in the stuff they put out. They shouldn't have to add a story mode either cause that budget could've gone into fixing the game or making it more stable on day 1
Regarding these potential loot boxes, that's also not surprising anymore. I pray that they do commit if that's real just to see the Strawman defences try to adapt to the controversy, knowing that they can't defend BN/the TK team's actions by that point Haven't played for months due to the general declining PC port.
@FrameWhisperer Absolutely. Really telling that they don't trust Reina to be the next significant villain of the series because their writing is cookie-cutter & formulaic. She would've: Done evil corporate global stuff like Hei/Kaz Piss off Kaz & potentially Jin Kaz + Jin work together vs. her They beat her She can't die cause she has to return for more fights (& would've been a jobber) I tweeted at Harada to pay my respects for caring about the story enough to move on from Hei & do creative stuff to still reference him in 8.....& then EVO happened. I also shared my story review to express my likes, dislikes & thorough criticisms a week after release. Guess the team took offence & said "F the story quality" Saddening af.
@@NapBlackdude I’ve seen the defense already and it’s the same defense people used for the battle pass at this point I just think the people who play T8 just because it has the name Tekken and not actual fans of the franchise or are in denial to the fact this game is awful I think it’s even worse then SFV on launch cause it at least had working online.
I quit around may and my plan was to comeback for lidia. I played for a little bit but the matchmaking sucks and I still hate that there is no infinite rematch not even in casual matches like cmon.
Soon as a I saw the leak, I thought to myself, yknow this is downright disturbing but at least it means I’m gonna see Frame’s devilishly handsome mug very soon
Namco really crapped the initial good will they generated with this game down the shitter, I don't put anything pass them now and we haven't had any sales updates so I imagine it really hit them in the wallet but they won't be self aware enough to course correct.
I think you are absolutely right about the longevity thing. Yes, T8 had a really good peak, and also has a lot of players still playing the game. BUT, the terrible balancing and their shitty monetization practices will make the game bleed much quicker than it happened with T7. If they continue like this, there's no way this game will last almost a decade like T7 did. I don't think the game will die anytime soon, but they're almost on their way to bury their own graves I feel. Whether BAMCO are aware of it or not, is up for debate I think. Time will tell.
Also I have to point out the reason Bamco can be so pathetic is because the modern customer is so shameless and pathetic. So many of my Tekken friends are buying every battle pass and all the slop served in the Tekken shop. They're my friends but I don't understand them. I think the true cause behind her fertility and cost living crisis is the younger generation simply has zero concept of responsible spending or any concept of long term planning in general.
4 characters a year with a massive legacy roster like Tekken is pathetic, at least SF6 is pumping them out fast. Terry comes out this week or next and I feel like we just had Bison. Consistency is key and they’re falling behind. Game of the year? Best fighting game of the year? Don’t be gaslit by reviews, take a look at the state of the game currently and see if it’ll maintain itself. I understand it’s their first time using UE5 for these characters…but Bamco has so much money, effort at rapid pace is the issue not being addressed for this game. Hype then deflation. Sure it’ll be better 4 years from now, but people aren’t waiting for then but now
I dont get it: if there is three times the amount of concurent players in T8 than in T7 then how come I keep matching against the same five people all over again in T8, while in T7 I almost always got different players (with 1/3 of the average playing players)??? I'm in high purple ranks, where THEIR data shows MOST players are too! Something's up... (and it aint my D)
I like and trust you, always glad to hear a criticism to something i love. Tekken 8 could have been better... Maybe Tekken 7 was successful because you could alt tab on PC... Gosh it so hard to me to loas into t8 now. I HAVE to close every other window
I remember when you first was going about the shop and all these things I was thinking it's just a shop. Then I considered getting the ninja outfit from the shop. I looked at the buy cash currency. I then realized they are forcing you to spend more to get the smallest thing. The store is out of control. They need to fix high end rank. Forget all this other stuff. I ultimately quit and my health improved.
@@CosmicVoid420 it's not about the skins is because I am a die hard Tekken fan and I was looking at this as a way to support a company that I love. But now I am looking at Tekken like a hoe that a lot of die hard fans are in love with. But now we are waking up.
@@mylinuxstruggle5495 Well buy the skins if you want to support them. Or don't buy the skins. No one is forcing you. Buying the game is enough support already. I don't understand how people's mental health are taking a toll because a game franchise has optional skins you can buy if you want.
