What do you think of the brands and products included in the box? and don't forget to use the code QUICKKIT to get 10% off the price - valid until the end of November!
Army painter are excellent paints, Cote d'arms are maybe a bit thick for my liking, good for terrain pieces though. Watch those agitators - generally they're fine, but unless they're high quality stainless steel, they will, eventually, rust, which might not be too good for your paint... You can also use ceramic baking 'beans' - little blobs you buy from the baking section of supermarkets for some esoteric purpose... They're far lighter, of course, and therefore less effective, but are entirely inert (they better be if you use them in baking!) having said that, I've only see the steel balls rusting in metallic paints. You have reminded me I did buy those Army Painter sculpting tools... wonder where I put them...
Hmm a bit more synergy with the sculpting tools would have been nice. What I mean is this box contained a brush + something to use the brush on. The sculpting tools somewhat felt left out, if they could feel. Maybe a sample sized packaging of putty to try out the putty and the tools? things like that
What?! There's a loot box for hobbies too?! There's so much Loot Crate style subscriptions nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if one day we get a loot box of loot boxes. XD Thing tho, Hobby Hoard's box is just an ordinary box you can randomly buy somewhere, I hope they put more effort and give a better looking box.
Looks like some pretty good quality stuff there Owen. The thing I kind of like about it is that it will throw you some stuff that you wouldn't normally buy, but then you would probably find a use for it or even just play with it. Not too bad a price either and you do seem to get quite a bit for your money. I might just give them a go and see how the next few boxes go. Many thanks for sharing and have fun, Joe
Personally I think this is great that hobby hoard has designed this it's good for the future of scale modelling as it shows that they have taken recognition of other hobby loot boxes like loot crate a few of you have a problem with the price but bear in mind the company has to pay for packaging shipping and have to make profit good on you hobby hoard personally I have my say I think you guys should stick so that you only include one type of everything instead of two types of things like the paints it makes room for something else ignore the haters and keep doing I will order one next time I get some money in 😀👍
The pipettes can be cleaned when you put stuff that disolves the paint inside and shake and if you let it dry inside it can provide a wash for later times
I think it's a great idea if you're new to the hobby, but if you've been doing it for some time then I would suspect you would have most of the things on offer. But all in all, a great idea, and who doesn't like to receive things in the post??
The army painter washes are absolutely awesome for shading figures. You can pretty much build them in layers over light grey for amazing and idiot proof skin, clothing etc
Cheep source for "Paint Agitators" is Stainless steel ball bearings. AP and Vall's have always been my goto paint range however, there are cheeper better value for money tools supplies (dental and medical supplies)
Pipettes EBay Less than 2p each. Use them for whatever and then bin them. Maybe a more eco friendly solution would be glass dropper bottles (better solution for the more aggressive thinners anyway)
Seriously.. really? loot boxes?! paying monthly for something you dont know what you gonna get? I say No! not for even few quid. I do my monhly, scale model hobby stuff shoping wisely! No need to throw money away for some random crap Please guys, think about it and dont get yourselfs into that
It's probably a fair price if you happen to get stuff you want. Too random for me to put money on though. Too much chance of getting stuff I already have or have absolutely no use for. But, people seem to like the surprise factor.
@Hobby Hoard I think there needs to be something else in with the crate to help justify the price. Maybe make it more of a kit with a small figure to help test all the new stuff on. Then maybe add some sort of tip on what each item can be used for. This is probably great for someone who is starting out or who's been doing it for a bit. Also add a veteran, intermediate, beginner box types so people with more experience will get something more fitting.
This is really aimed at fantasy wargamers and at £30 a shot is a tad expensive. However if they included a plastic kit with paint and brushes to complete it with useful tool and materials I might very well be interested
This is a really good idea! A box full of goodies... maybe if it were at all possible people who receive these could use a selection system where they could let hobby hoard know what they like and what they don’t like so they could get more of the stuff relevant to their preferences sent to them if that makes sense. Cheers for the video Owen! Marc.
Are every box random in content? Or maybe you vould choose like a beginner set or more advance set or you'll never gonna knew what you'll get when you buy...
This looks neat, it might be good for a starter modeler who needs some tools to work with and try out, kind of interested to see what happens to the service in the future.
I feel like the idea of a loot crate for modelers is a good one, but I think it should just ship with a model and most of the stuff you need to complete it, it could mix up what you get so that you can test your skills with different kinds of models and what not.
Hi mate, nice video its a good idea but if you have been modelling for awhile you probably want to know what your getting as you may get 30-70% of stuff you already have
MrBMBuilder on the other side of things I don't mind if I got some stuff I already have (not so much tools but glue/paints/washes etc) as we can never have enough and we are eventually going to run out of what we already have.
I agree but why spend money on something you already have when you can use that money to buy something you don't have :). If I have a blue paint I don't need another and if I need a paint brush odds are your going to buy one and not hope one will turn up in a box. Great idea for beginners or people with money , not knocking the idea but when I saw what Owen got I thought I have most of the stuff....why don't you just buy the stuff you need instead of getting a lucky dip box.
I have 2 question. 1. Which is better paint to use on clear parts? (Acrylic or enamels) 2. If I scrab the paint which is on wrong place, would it damage the clear part? (I mean leave some lines)
1. Acrylic 2. Use a sharpened matchstick or piece of the sprue to minimise scratches, then you could dip in Pledge floor polish for a nice smooth, clear finish
O___O) after watching the video.... hmmmm.... I thought you'll be getting miniature models, like 40k, Warhammer and Necromunda because the title said "loot crate for miniature modellers".
Lol funny how the business doesnt exist now. Unless they buy all the stock for half or a third of the price how did they expect to make any money to sustain a business?
