A breathtaking climb to the highest point on Lord Howe Island, Mount Gower 873m. Movie contains maps and rarely seen drone footage of the Low Road and summit.
I did that climb with Ian and his grad student and my BF at the time, an ecologist. So proud of myself for doing it, but I did lose my shit and freeze up on the vertical ridge, rope or no rope. The fact that my BF hissed at me that I was slowing him down both snapped me out of my freeze with hurt feelings and started the process of our breakup. Other than that, one of the most stunning, powerful weeks of my life in that place.
So good to have another Richard Pattison video! Amongst my circle of friends your videos are highly revered, particularly the ones of the canyons in Utah where I spend much of my free time.

I will have more Utah videos to share in the next few weeks, footage from 2017 when my wife was a couple of months pregnant... and I didn't get a chance to compile the movies fully before Ryan was born... fast forward 3 years and we're only just emerging from the early parenthood cocoon! We were hoping to take Ryan to Utah in 2021, but coronavirus border closures in Australia means we can't leave unfortunately. You can enjoy Utah for us instead this year :o) Rich.

Congrats on making it out of the early parenthood cocoon! I have young ones myself and I know it sure does change things :) My wife and I were in Australia scuba diving last year and it was amazing! Here's too many future adventures at home and abroad!
Welcome back mate. I went to Lord Howe Island many years ago as a kid but we didn’t tackle this climb. Would be great to go back one day and experience it 👍🏻
Thanks for the support Tim. Lord Howe is a beautiful place, but very expensive to visit. We're just emerging from the early parenthood cocoon... hence the 3-year hiatus. We were determined to continue doing easy outdoor stuff with Ryan... but suddenly find ourselves with a 2.5 year old and only now starting to venture out into the bush. We did manage a couple of w/e trips to Bungonia gorge before the bushfires over summer, and then the lock-downs, but now fortunately able to get away for some short trips up in the Bluies. Yes, we visited Lord Howe in Feb this year, we just happened to be there during the cyclone which was "exciting", and also unexpectedly awarded us a few extra days on the island, albeit staying inside and avoiding flying trees ;o) We have a 2.5 year old son, hence my 3-year hiatus, we're only just now able to start getting back out into the mountains, and having time to video edit.
