Hey! Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT & SHARE! This is one of my favourite videos I've created recently so it would be brilliant if you could follow me on my next adventure! I'm looking forward to reading all your comments below 👇 Also, you can check out my blog post packed full of the best things to do on Lord Howe Island here - www.anadventurousworld.com/things-to-do-on-lord-howe-island/
Excuse my inquisitiveness but I read only about 350 people live there. I assume you must all know each other? He had no shots of the town or anything presumably (and understandably) for privacy reasons but just wondered how it might be to live there. All good things anyway. No need to reply. Just must be so amazing to live in a place like this.
@@davidwatermeyer5421 Yeah, everyone knows everyone. Staff turn over happens in September, Feb and May usually. New faces tend to come in then and if you can, you try and take off to NZ, Bali or Thailand in July or August for a holiday. Living there isnt that much different. There's not much to do, so people who live there tend to get stuck in a routine. Wednesday night, members draw at the Bowlo, during summer, the shak on thursday night, there used to be late nights at the bowlo on friday but they seem to have stopped. Dinner at the golfie on friday or take away from Milky Way. Sicca does the best beef curry you'll eat. His hamburger was a epic too. Dave at Anchorage does unreal food.
i lived on lord howe for 4 months building the broken banyan units about 45 years ago and i have never been back. i will have to go for a visit soon it is an amazing place . very good fishing there
That's so cool! I've heard the fishing is great though unfortunately I didn't have enough time to do it myself. Hopefully you can make it back one day.
My grandparents live on the island and I visit every year (18x now), I am related to Kim Morris, the founder of the name Kims Lookout and I love this video and I recommend the sunsets on Old Settlement. It really puts you in a great state of mind., and depending on your schedule mt Gower is an amazing climb! Thank you for Putting Lord Howe out there and keep up the good work!!
That's amazing, thanks for commenting Alex! It sounds like you've got a huge connection to the island which I love. I really hope I can visit LHI again one day as it's such a beautiful place!
That's amazing Alex. I climbed Kim's Lookout back in 1972 when I was 4yo. Not a hard climb but the people at Pinetrees made me a clay medallion to commemorate. (I wish I still had it!)
i literally was on google earth just spinning the globe and i see this tiny little island called lord howe so i went to youtube and found this! it is soooo gorgeous!!!! wooow
I was there 9 years ago. Lovely. As a Biologist it is truly magnificent. The waters were actually rather cold ( I was there in June) so a wet suit would have helped
Yes please! I still feel there's a few things I missed out on so I definitely want to go back again! And thanks for all your help mate on this one - I really appreciate it!
When I was in the merchant navy back when I was 18 we were based in Sydney, every cruise after visiting Fiji or Tahiti we would do a circuit of Lord Howe and Balls pyramid, it was so frustrating being so close and never landing now I can see what I missed makes it even worse, hope to one day actually set foot on it for real though not sure how easy it is to get to from the mainland.
Wow, that's like the ultimate travel frustration - being able to see a place but not visit it! Yeah, Lord Howe Island really is a special place. Hopefully you can visit one day. Until then, here's some more information on the island you might find useful - www.anadventurousworld.com/things-to-do-on-lord-howe-island/
Thanks for that, the view I had was very like the boat tour you took, yes it was incredibly frustrating. I must have circled the Island and balls pyramid at least 5 or 6 times so near yet so far hope your right and I can finally land on it properly.
I was just lookin around on google earth for islands that maybe could look pretty came opon this island searched it up on goolge then on yt and it looks *BEAUTIFULL!*
Thank you, this was really informative and super helpful as to what to do there. I’m hoping to go there next year. Bit pricey but sounds like it’s worth it :)
No worries at all, and I'm glad you found it useful. It's definitely expensive, but it's 100% worth it too in my opinion. It really is such a special place to visit!
Such a great video! Inspiring and entertaining at the same time🤩 We had to sub💗 Looking forward to seing more of your content🌟 We make travel videos too🛫
Your vid is almost epic man, great landscapes and agree with all your opinions. Thanks for the editing and creative work. It is "almost" epic cuz the lanscapes are awesome and the way you mix them is incredible, the only downside is that you appear in so many frames selfportrainting yourself, no problem but its suposed that the vid is about australia and not yourself. Nature is way superior to the humans and less selfish one. Btw you have my like.
Definitely best movie on YT about LHI! I rlly enjoyed watching this. What about the Balls Pyramid, ive heard that its extremly hard to legally go hiking on it, but what about to jump on the boat and sail around that huge rock?
Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me. I'm not too sure you can hike on Balls Pyramid but you can definitely see it on a tour. Unfortunately it's a lot further away than I realised so we didn't visit there - usually it's on a day trip. But yes, you can go there on a tour and see it!
Hi there! I stayed at Pinetrees Lodge. I speak about some of the accommodation options in my blog post here - www.anadventurousworld.com/things-to-do-on-lord-howe-island/. But yes, the accommodation is very expensive on the island!
don't visit this island if not mid-Dec to mid march because the water is cold.. if you don't like swimming and like quiet then visit this island in winter not many people. if you want to save money bring a stock of foods from Sydney if you have extra bags because saves you lots of money. foods start 20-30 dollars one time eat. I think 4 days is enough if not you will get bored more than that. this island you reach in a 1-day walk so not much not including hiking to the mountain. this island is not very friendly to visitors you can feel that... you can feel their want your money but don't want you here lol ... also their look is not friendly to Asian tourists too... you can feel that when you visit that island similar like Norfolk island
@@markrushton4631 you really are not being nice to other people who can actually appreciate their world unlike you. you have no sense of how other people feel so i would keep you opinions to your self if i were you and don't talk to me ever again please
To be fair, the amount of indigenous biological life on and surrounding the island that is found nowhere else on earth is pretty staggering considering the size of the island.
For the Europeans in the comments: Croatia islands are pretty sililar. Clear water, mountains in the background. You saved yourself 2000 euro. Thank me later.
@@sophiaklau517 Going there by yacht they charge a hefty fee to land,Boaters don't spend enough money. Things have a large mark up even though the Australian government heavily subsidises every thing conning from Aus. They are not very Australian because they wan't to leave Aust and even wan't there own money, ha ha what a joke that would be. So yes don't go.
