Hey dear RWPN ,I am from Orissa India. Let me tell you one thing that the grand temple was destroyed nearly 18 times by the outside like Mughals , Britishers and many more attackers and its gem store was looted, while the honorable Tri idols was hidden many times by the servents , sometimes in the lake sometimes in some distant village, that's why This rituals is going on till today that non hindus will not be allowed to enter the temple , But if you talk about reverence, then come in the Rath Yatra, and interact with lord of universe and wish good for the rest of your life. Sir don't be sad. The temple management and the Jagganath himself don't discriminate between Hindus and others but it is our dark past which forced us to make such rules. This temple had been attacked several times and thankfully many brave people have died to protect it unlike some coward people who ran away allowed the destruction of (Kashi,Mathura,Kashmir,Sindh etc).

Because some of his Devotees like Non Indian Hindus can't enter the Temple, Lord comes out of his Comfort Zone every year so that people may have a Satisfying view of him and vice versa ! btw, He is so much merciful that I have heard he is a bit Visible even from Outside the Temple 😄🙏

During rath yatra it is said if it doesn't rain then it is considered bit less holy This time as soon as jagannath ji came out of his rath it started raining They say demigods and beings from other planets and dimensions come to get a glimpse of lord jagannath

Many years ago, people were even allowed to climb up the chariot and embrace Jagannath, regardless of what his/her caste, religion, colour, creed and nationality! And when they get near the Lord, they whisper their wishes into the Ear of the lord and soon, those wishes are fulfilled! Many such cases have taken place. And another fact... the oppurtunity to even go near the ropes pulling the chariot, is very difficult to achieve. And have you seen some people carrying the Lord and standing next to Him? They are called the Lord's Bodyguards, and they work at the gym for several hours. One of the most famous bodyguard is Anil Gotchkar. His body is so well-built that he got several offers to work in a film, but he directly refused them saying that he has been given this body, only to render Service to Lord Jagannath... that is the Goal of Life - to use whatever you have to render service to The Supreme Lord. The Chariot Nandighosh (The Name of Lord Jagannath's Chariot) actually moves according to the Lord's Will. When He does not want to move, even if lakhs of people try to pull it, it won't budge and there have been so many incidents like that. But when He wants to move, even a single person is enough to pull it. During the Lockdown, devotees were not allowed to gather at the time of Rath Yatra and only the servitors of the temple were allowed to pull the chariot and the government had imposed the rule of only 300 men to pull it. This was literally impossible because the Chariots are very huge in size and so are they exceedingly heavy! To pull them, thousands of people were needed and at that time, only 300-350 people were allowed. But by The Lord's Grace, they all managed to pull the Three chariots one-by-one and bring them to Gundicha Temple. Baldev's Chariot was brought first, then they went back to Jagannath Temple to bring Subhadra's Chariot and after Reaching to the Gundicha Templw, they had to back again to The Main Temple to Get the Lord's Chariot. The Distance between the Two Temples is 3 kilometres. The Bodyguards had only one job i.e., to carry the Lord from the Temple to the Chariot and bring Him off the Chariot to the Gundicha Temple... they never experienced pulling the Chariot because they were usually pulled by Devotees and ordinary people... and moreover, this rule imposed by the government reached to the public, the night before the next day of the Rath Yatra. Firsly, the government imposed the rule of not allowing the Rath Yatra to take place and when the servitors heard this, they all got shocked! But in the last minute, at night, an issue was passed saying that the Rath Yatra can take place, provided 300 men from the Temple were to pull the Three Chariots. They got blisters under their feet and were tired... but all their tiredness was mitigated when they saw the Lord's Strange Smile on His Lotus Face. This miracalous incident was shared and described by Anil Gotchkar - one of the Bodyguards. His eyes welled up with tears when he was sharing this story of Lord Jagannath Who was assuring them with the Beautiful Smile that they CAN DO IT! Chariot is symbolic to the human body and the journey/path the human body takes to reach its destination which is nirvaana. Srila Prabhupada along with his western devotees went to Puri for temple visit. The authorities and priests refused to allow the western devotees inside the temple of Jagannath in Puri. Then Srila Prabhupada took a challenge and said to them that if they won't allow non-hindus inside the temple, then he would make the chariot parade and jagannath temple in every country in the world and he did it. 😁

Lord Jagannath is Krishna himself......the elder brother is balbhadra or commonly known as Balaram and sister is subhadra as mentioned in Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavat Purani. You must also react to what is Navkalevar and why new idols are made and how everything goes.

Only indian relegions like Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains are allowed inside the temple .There are many reasons to not allow (even iskcon devotees are not allowed and prime minister was not allowed once), one of which is temple was attacked 17 times by foreigners and invaders. But personally i think people from these relegions from all over the world should be allowed.

wow that story of why the idol looks imperfect blew me away. I was thinking the same because you see mesmerizing idols of Vishnu in many ancient temples with beautiful craftmanship and I was wondering why the idol looked very weird.

At end of Rath Yatra, lord returns to main temple, wears gold ornaments dressed like king! And every sweet story that mahalaxmi (consort of vishnu) is very angry at jaganath for not being in as he had said he will return back next day. She closes the door of temples, she opens door only after lord gifts her with garlands and rasagullas(sweet dish) 🤭

There is a reason behind that Only SANATANI ( Hindu,Sikh,Jain, Buddhists) can enter. Even the prasad ( food) is not made of foreign Vegetable or items which originated in foreign. It was attacked (13times) by many Invaders and lord has to leave temple and stay in Southern region and Bengal also. And there is a belief of Odia people also that there ancient book that someday one will come and Take jagannath from here, something like that,I don't know so they just banned enter of Foreigners. Devdut Pattnaik who is a mythologist i quote "mythologist" not a historian some facts he said were a bit complicated instead of dr.devdut Pattnaik you can watch Dr.abhijit chavda he's vedios are authentic with facts overall this documentary is good 👍 for basic knowledge the above points I will explain in discord 😀

🙏🏻Jai Jagannath 🙏🏻(Sad Reality) The actual reason why they are not changing the rule of not allowing into the temple to non-hindus or mainly to white foreigners because they can't change it, it's not in their hands. This rule was together made by the the King and all the priests of that time who were facing a lot of invasion from both muslim invaders and British colonisers. And later it was legalised by government of odisha. When this rule was made it became unaltered or non-erasable rule from that point of time forever. And now the priests of the temple are adhered to do that rule because they belongs to same dynasty of priests who were serving for 100s of years. And the harsh fact is that the recent priests of the temple they will never-ever agree to change the rule because of their forefathers's pledged. But don't be sad guys you can still have darshan or can see to Lord Jagannath every year on Rath Yatra. Rath Yatra is the only festival when god comes out from his home for his devotees to give darshan.

Only Hindus can enter in the temple So, lord Jagannath to see his all Hindu and non Hindu devotees comes out from his temple in the form of Rathayatra. In this festival everyone of this world can see, can feel, can touch lord Jagannath.

Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains are allowed entry into Jagannath Temple because culturally and spiritually there is a lot that is common between them and the Hindus. Jagannath temple has some policy rules, Muslim invaders tried to break Jagannath temple many times and failed every time. Among 18 invasions occurred in the temple, the fifth one was by Kalapahad in 1568 AD. As information of Kalapahad's coming to Puri reached temple, the then servitors secretly carried the idols to the Chilika lake and hide in the Parikud Island.

Well there is still so many left. Like their return and sunabesa which is like they wear gold ornaments and adharapana and so much. U should watch them. You will be amazed i swear. I just live 60 kms far from puri but still never made it to rathyatra. Coz u know we believe that if u go to puri and get to meet him that's his wish, he wanted to meet you. If he does not want to then u can't even meet him even if u r in puri.. I cry every time i go jagannath temple and during rathyatra. ..... U know he has magic that can hypnotize u. heyy I'm from odisha & i saw everyone cleared a lot of things in the comments. but there's something missing in the documentary. so what happens, after vishwakarma disappeared & king got a shunya vani (the voice of universe) saying to build temple and worship the deities in incomplete form. & king did build a temple which was on the request of his queen gundicha. but he wanted to invite lord brahma. he decided to go to brahmalok (the place where brahma lives). he went there with the help of Narad (son of Brahma, a devotee of Vishnu). But when he reached there, Brahma was doing austerity or devotion (closing eyes & chanting omkar). he opened his eyes after finishing it & then king talked to him & invited him. then came back. But when he came back it was passed 300 on years on earth. (Time dilation see ?). He was so lost & couldn't find the place where he built the temple. So he came to odisha to talk to the king of that time. But everyone thought he's crazy. No one believed him. Then one day the king was returning from somewhere & his horse realised something metalic in the sand on sea beach. He started digging & found something that looked like the upper part of a temple. The digging process was continued & it found out to be a vishnu temple. & then king believed indradyumna dev. & Then when they opened the door they found the deities of the three. Then he built a new temple which is current puri jagannath temple. It was built in 12th century. The old temple was kept as a visiting place of Jagannath & its named after queen gundicha. That's why jagannath goes to gundicha temple every year. cause queen wanted to worship him (them) in her temple. Everyone ignores this part cause it's so difficult to believe how a human went to brahmalok & invited brahma but yeah it's a big part of the story & a big part of gundicha temple. So just to clarify, the king was looking for Shri Krishnas heart. It was the only body part of Shri Krishna that couldn't be cremated after his death. It turned into a blue rock and that is what was in the cave. It is believed that this sacred heart of Shri Krishna is inside the idol of Lord Jagganath. The reason why there are three idols is because when Lord Vishnu took his various forms on earth, He was always with his Seshnaag (the many headed serpent He rests on) and his sister Yogmaya. When he was Shri Krishna, his serpent was incarnated into Balram his older brother and Mata Shakti (Yogmaya) was his younger sister.

I have heard some amazing things about lord Jagannath temple. Please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere. 1) The maha prasad is always sufficient exactly that matches the crowd on that day. Nothing less or nothing more. 2) It always rains during the Rath yatra. I mean every year. 3) The flag on the top of temple, waves in the opposite direction of the wind flow. 4) The Temple doesn't have a shadow at any time in the day. 5) Outside the temple one can hear the ocean currents. The moment one enters the temple, that sound are no longer heard.
