I was obsessed with this in my preteens, When it came out in 96 I had to watch it A LOT I still love it to this day. I STILL LOVE hearing Michael shouting give it to em to his army this was so fun to watch it still is
Re-Watching all of this and reliving my childhood. Completely reinforces that nothing solves conflict like a good old fashioned dance off :3 Love it aha!
Sorry, Flatley... Your angry gestures are nothing compared to the Don's silent stares. That man always gave me the shivers. Stunning performance - by everyone!
I'm 35 years old now and I still remember the feelings I got when I first watched this when I was little. I was so captivated and even more so now watching this later on in life. I love the small details they put in such as making Don and his troop's taps sound darker than Michael's, to the acting and the stares and shouting. The whole performance is just unreal. I'm walking down the aisle to 'Stolen Kiss'. and am having an Irish band playing. All this stemmed from watching Riverdance and Lord of the Dance as a child. I cannot wait.
I remember watching this show for the first time in my dance class at school and how amazing and beautiful and creative it was that I asked for it for Christmas (I think, which was on VHS!! (I know it dates me), but I just found it completely amazing! Now I have it on DVD but one of my all-time favorite dances wasn't on it which is a HUGE bummer, but I still have the VHS one that maybe I can find a way to get it switched to a DVD!
The manliest men I've ever seen are ballet dancers. The core strength and control it needs are beyond most sports men. Ballet dancers sustain injuries like broken toes and bloody feet and keep on dancing, nothing manlier than that.
I just can't get behind the new show at all... as someone who use to do competitive Irish dance... I don't like the new soundtrack for the most recent show and the costumes I found horrible. I will always watch either this or feet of flames.
Me sitting in the food court at lunch doing my best not to yell "LEAVE HER ALON3 YOU BIG BULLY....YES! YES! YOU TEACH THAT BULLY WHO'S BOSS" I'll never grow up as long as I live.
You show was fantastic, amazing and perfectly, but so shame I have not become a chance to see you one first in my life. 😧👍❤❤❤❤i love you all LOTD and miss you
Great! But when the bad guy breaks her flute in two, you can actually see, that he's pulling it in two instead of crushing it on his knee. Still an awesome thing, its just funny to notice.
I think doesn't Michael wear tap shoes sometimes to get a better clear louder sound.? But he does Irish dancing with them not tap dance. Cause they sound different to everyone else's shoes. Hmm :P
Is it just me, or do the guys sound like they're saying "They don't drink car!" at 6:57? I know it sounds completely ridiculous! Realistically, they may be counting to 4 in Gaelic before they advance to the "fight."
@MissImagination92 What about this one? The 1996 one? I like this one the way it is(and I've always been a sucker for old stuff), but do they make/sell it anymore? Could I get it anywhere(and/or for free)?
1piazzola I agree. In fact they all took this on another level in “Feet of Flames”. I guess this was nerves and how the crowd was going to react. Everyone was a lot better in “FoF”.
@purpleheart3000 There is a dvd of his latest one from either last year or the year before and it is even better than this one because of the effects they have on the stage. You can get it at HMV i think
@purpleheart3000 Play.com stock the old and the new DVD have a look and see what you can find... I've just had a look and the old one is on the to buy :)x
@amber13wings i´m doing irish dancing atm. it´s pretty hard to learn the first steps but what comes after that is a piece of cake. my teacher still wants me to do a few routine lessons and then, she said, she will teach me the "warriors" piece ;D
I wish I could find the missing songs from the album version. We are missing "Gaelic Song", "Dangerous Game", "Hell's Kitchen" and "The Duel". Does anyone know where to find them? Feel like my soundtrack is incomplete without them! :)
Hell's Kitchen is not the same without the ominous male choir singing in the background. The "priests" in the background are just the women in cloaks which doesn't seem right to me...
