You know it takes time to learn bosses right? he usually uploads no hits after many hours fighting them. I think he just wanted to beat everyone else and upload first.
Pleasant surprise that it acknowledged the win with a unique cutscene and shows that the boss is indeed dead. Usually it's the player is defeated by cutscene, so I wonder if the game will change a bit if you beat that boss there.
I can't believe they gave it phases, new movesets etc. Most of the time you just have to do the same thing perfectly 50 times against the same basic 3 moves.
It's his positioning game (avoiding attacks by simply just moving out of their hit boxes at the last moment) that's maddeningly great, I wonder how do you even practice a battle like that, save scumming or just starting a new game!?
Tutorial bosses in soulslikes have come a long way since Demons Souls. Vangaurd demon had two attacks, Swing axe, or butt stomp ground, and that was enough to wipe the floor with new players. It's been a wild ride.

My man, that was clean! I'll did it too. 114 try, 16 min. 9 hours total. Was so frustrated, coz on 4090 and r9 5950x game start freezeing after 50-65 min, and restart only can help in this situation. For each try, I used ds-ds2 save changer, and fast relog mode, without intro and menuing, just one tap, and u loading to home screen, and your backup save reloading in same time. That was little bit stressfull first 3h, however, then I got into rhythm and caught flow. Stay safe my man! P.S. I definitely will be speedrunning this game.❤
That's the problem with you kids these days. Too stupid to troubleshoot so you just think bigger number mean more better. While you get worse performance than those with "worse" cards. 🤣
this boss is actually not that hard, LOTF has a ton of s, most souls veterans would be able to do this fight at level 1 after an hour or two of practice at most. I drank from my flask twice when i beat him in my game, on my second attempt.

he is good at video games and has a lot of time and willpower, most people get frustated and give up, thats why they never accomplish anything like this in their lives
I do think they did a great job with the character movement and feel of the combat system with this game. I really like the tap to quick step / double tap to roll for the dodges as well. I'd like to see that be a more standard feature in these games
I'd rather a mechanic other than dodging altogether. I think it's dumb that an attack that hits my character does no damage because of "I-frames". Plus rolling around on the floor in a fight just looks dumb.
@@slinkyslink5161 sekiro's alternative was deflecting, and that just made the gameplay look ridiculous with the same 1 parry animation being done every 30 seconds over the course of the entire game

That fight looks really tough! I can only imagine how many tries Ongbal retried this boss fight, perhaps making dozens of new characters just to do a rematch on this really difficult boss that's like a battle of endurance. Not as HP spongy like Vendrick from DS2, but more challenging due to how consistent you have to get for evading those different combos.

@@Apfelsine78 You can probably force a save with menuing and back up your save file, but that still means replacing the save file and reloading from the main menu each time you die. It's what I did with Genichiro when Sekiro came out. lol
@@reaperanon979 yeah i did something similar in dark souls one hahahaha, but its faster if you just tick the box that the file cant be updated, that way you dont have to copy/paste anything

Anyone have answers to these questions: What did the Iron guy grab out of Lightreaper's chest? Does it come into play later on? The Iron guy is an ally (at least in my game, only 1 boss in) -- does he become an enemy after this? Presumably Lightreaper is the game's final boss -- do you get a different boss because of this? Are there any scenes or story moments throughout the game where you encounter Lightreaper again, but it is different with this version of the game where you kill him in tutorial? Cheers!
@@zemo2916 Funnily enough, he is a boss, but the next boss after him (excluding a questline exclusive boss) is the Iron Wayfarer. And yeah you fight the lightreaper a couple more times in different areas but those are one time opportunities as well.
really surprised by all of the different attacks the boss had and its change up. it definitely piqued my interest quite a bit, I love the good challenge of these games.

Thanks for the video and it says a lot that you've uploaded a video where you get hit. Seeing how long that fight took, and considering that you can't simply repeat the fight after death, it must've been demanding enough for you to say "fuck it, two hits is good enough". Kudos to you!

Usually when I start a souls game, I would make sure to beat the tutorial boss by making new characters, so I can get better/ unique loot. But this level of tutorial boss is insane😂! Will definitely spend a lot of time to rerun the tutorial.
i like it that we can skip the tutorial scenes and just run straight to the boss! makes it easier to collect those delicious souls! look at the number, 18k!! thats easily rewarding
Not even Genichiro or Urizen could hold a candle to this thing as a 'beatable unbeatable tutorial boss'. I wasn't that interested in the game before due to a rather generic aesthetic, but with a fight like THAT right at the start, with even a unique cutscene for the victory, now it's going on my wishlist. Beautiful fight as always, sir.

@awhellnah__ This is a souls-like game, powering through all the difficulty and odds is what makes it fun and worth it. And assuming that they'll waste $60 because the game's challenge has piqued their interest makes you a bit pretentious.
I mean they just made him tanky. The moveset actually seems simple. Genichiro is easily beatable in the tutorial after you defeat him one time in your first playthrough. His role in all points of the game is just to ensure that you learn the fundamentals of the game: "unbeatable" in the tutorial, a mechanic check leading into mid game, and the fodder by Ishin.
You also get boss specific upgrade materials from him. But could also be the "boss soul" for the boss weapon merchant. Idk for sure but I saw the items at a stream

Don't have Lords of the Fallen yet but it's seems like Ongbal is already defeating the tutorial boss and it doesn't look easy, this is the hardest souls like tutorial boss I've ever seen but I'm impressed you were to beat him not like I'd doubt you or don't think you could've.
That’s not a “tutorial” boss lol. The fact that it took him like 10 minutes is evidence that you’re not meant to fight him and win on your first go. The guy he fights before this is the tutorial boss.

I love that this game actually lets you beat the tutorial boss if you’re good enough unlike Sekiro forcing you to lose to Genichiro even if you’re good enough to take him out initially.

Can't say that I think the literal minutes of the boss flying around attacking you while you cannot do any attacks yourself is good boss design. However, this play was absolutely amazing. The timing required looks incredibly challenging.
You just summed up why I hate Placidusax's 2nd phase where he keeps teleporting into the air and all you can do is pretty much wait. I don't mind some emphasis on spectacle, but it really drags the fight. Some other dragon fights also suffer from this philosophy allthough not to the same degree.
As a fan of souls-like games, I gotta say...with this masterpiece and Lies of P releasing recently...I'm in heaven. Seriously impressive games, can't for Shadow of the Erdtree too.

I got him to his 2nd phase where he lights his swords on fire. And was annihilated with him with 10% health left. I REALLY thought I was supposed to beat him.
Finally got him to third phase myself with condemned, had to grind out some Vit not to get one shot though. I'll probably get him today once i put some more effort in, he's a surprisingly fair fight except for maybe two attacks that seem weird to dodge since they seem to have lingering frames, i could just be shite with the timing though. I can't wait to actually start playing the game lmao.
@collinsmith5978 Finally got him! Man what a rush but fuck if I'm ever doing that again lmao. The main reason I did it is cuz I could cheat and just re-download my save from the ps cloud so I didn't have to start all the way over otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered, I'm sure I died 50+ times
It just feels like the fight is artificially difficult. The mechanics are there and he plays amazingly but it just seems hard to be hard. The dragon appearing and then getting fire aoe’s just seems a bit much for a tutorial boss.
Ahh yes, beating the unbeatable boss. Every boss in this game needs to be a near no hit run in order to win the fight. Otherwise you'll die. They shouldn't have kept the wither damage mechanic for perfect parrying. That's kinda unreasonable and the parry sounds like playing an instrument. Lies of P did so much better with parry sounds.
This is amazing, this guy is such a beast. The only good think about this game is the bosses, the levels are so terribly designed once you get to the middle of the game you'll be running in circles for hours...
Kid doesn't know what xbox 360 graphics look like judging from the fortnite pfp, you probably weren't alive or old enough for a 360 but I doubt you'd know what graphics look like nor have the right to judge a game's graphics.
