I bloody wish you watched this at the theatres, 19th December 2003, there was about 15 of us when we went, a black family and friends, we were hyped, this is when we knew lotr was special, transcended everything, there was a time when story came first, this was a beautiful moment in cinema
"Grown men are allowed to cry at funerals, the Grand Canyon, and watching Lord of the Rings." Ron Swanson. As a complete aside I so badly want someone to name their high school football team the biting Smeagols. Someone make it happen.
Fun fact: Gothmog, the pale lumpy orc lieutenant, was designed to look like Harvey Weinstein. Seems Peter Jackson, in dealing with him early in the process of making the films, developed a rather unsavory opinion of the guy. :D
@@foxtacoremember later on, sam asks Frodo if he remembers the taste of strawberries and something else in the same vein and Frodo says no. But when the ring is destroyed he remembers.
I love how you approach your watches. You pause as necessary to absorb, reflect, and talk, which means you aren't talking over the important stuff you need to hear to understand the films. And why is RU-vid picking on you? Everybody uploaded long watches of these movies.
Fun fact: the director wanted Christopher Lee (Saruman) to do this big dramatic noisy reaction to being stabbed but Lee said something like "Have you ever seen someone get stabbed? Because I have." Apparently, Lee had seen some shit while he was in special forces during WW2.
"It's not even a moment", you say as you brush a tear off watching the Lighting of the Beacons. It is MOST DEFINITELY a moment, and just like you, it stirs my heart. As Gandalf says - hope is kindled.
I always felt Frodos loyalty to Golum is more of a manufactured hope than trust. He needs to believe that Golum can change after having the ring, otherwise what chance Frodo have? 19:03
Yeah, that's how I saw it too. I think it started as pity and then as the ring took further hold he started to rely on Gollum's rehabilitation as a means of hope
Smeagol's betrayal of Deagol went deeper than you know, for they were cousins, not friends, and his ill use of the Rring saw him banished from his clan. It is safe to say Smeagol was affected so intensely by the Ring, not just because of how long he had it, but because of how he obtained it and the uses to which he put it. Compare it to Bilbo, who was moved to pity enough to spare Gollum's life and, after the events of The Hobbit mainly used the Ring to avoid being seen by his unpleasant relatives, the Sackville-Baggins, and was thus able to walk away from the Ring without any harm done.
Denethor had a Palantir (a seeing stone like the one Pippin looked into). Sauron poisoned his mine through it, showing Denethor only what he wanted him to see and convincing him that there was no hope. Denethor descended into despair and eventual madness because of what he saw in the stone.
Commenting for support 🌮 I love your reactions and appreciate the effort you put into them (especially with this reupload)! At least now I know I wasn't losing my mind when I thought I had watched and commented on your Return of the King reaction lol
With how incredible Howard Shore's scores for these movies are (I personally consider them the best film scores of all time), it gets difficult to remember how unorthodox of a choice he was back then. At the time, he was known for being a great composer, but for movies like those of David Cronenberg (Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly, Naked Lunch, etc.), The Silence of the Lambs, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Se7en.
“My hands are shaking” i completely understand with that beacon scene. It is powerful and beautiful an awesome to think about. The people who are sitting up on those mountains just waiting, shows just what those beacons mean. It is a big deal. The music swelling and the ideation of the scenes. It’s super well done.
Yeah, I fully imagine whole generations of families living in wild remote places on the off chance that the beacon down the way will be lit. It's incredible how much showing this scene does (rather than telling). That one pair waving wildly to the next set beaconkeepers, elated. Only to eventually have the horror of what it means dawn on them likely a few hours later. Incredible.
As a life long fan, read the books at like 9 or 10 years old, seeing these in theaters during the original run was crazy. No shame in crying over this beautiful story. First time I saw ROTK I started crying when the Rohirimm appeared on the ridge at Pellenor Fields and didn't stop until Sam's wedding.
Any reaction to the trilogy deserves a viewing from other fans, there's a special kind of joy seeing someone experience the epic adventure of the lord of the rings
i'm sure someone else said it, but pippin has literally never been away from merry at this point. he's the youngest of the group, so he's the most foolish and sheltered as well. i do love him, but man, he has a lot to learn very quickly over the course of this journey.
I also got teary when the beacons were lit - seeing the vast distances to send a call for help and thinking about the people in those remote areas whose job it was to watch out for a signal.
I still get chills when the beacons are lit ~ and when we first saw them in the theater back in the day, literally people rose to their feet yelling. One of the greatest cinematic experiences in a theater I'll ever have.
your reaction to the 2 movies before this were my top 5 reactions to them that i have seen, i really appreciate to see people who appreciate this cinema greatness when they see it, to me. seeing these movies in the theaters in early 2000's as a 8-10 year old kid were one of the best memories i have. so hearing all the youtube BS i decided to enjoy this masterpiece with you on patreon. so subbed on patreon and putting my copy of this movie on my second screen. its going to be a blast. thanks dude, you are great PS it seems you are allowed to embed the copy of the movie in patreon? didnt even know that, even better!
@@foxtaco thanks dude. Gotta say the moments when you are just shaking your head on disbelief and being in awe of the great moments makes me goes like YES this man gets it. I do the exact same stuff Just one thing i find fun to see. Greets from Finland !
Think about it - Pippin "The Fool" is actually acting as the very hand of the Creator, Eru Illuvatar! Every time Pippin screws up, EVERY TIME, some extremely important plot point is the result. Pippin doesn't mess with the armor in Moria, we get no Gandalf the White! He doesn't look into the Palantir, and we don't know where Sauron will attack. Every time he screws up, it ends up triggering a miracle! hehe Tolkien was a helluva writer. ;)
"not until you're dead, hung up, getting eaten by your own crows" Oh my friend, that's the horrible thing about a gibbit. It's a cage you put someone in, shaped like a body so they can't move, and the crows eat them alive.
I've heard you several times mention the music selected for certain scenes. All of the music for all of it was composed from scratch by composer Howard Shore. In my view he did a genius job because the music itself is one of the greatest starring roles in these movies. He composed specific musical motifs for every element, place, race, key objects (eg the ring), just so so good!
Your reaction to the beacons getting lit was everything ❤ this is my favorite moment in the movie, nothing compares to the camera work and the amazing music 😢😢😢 most reactors cut that part.
There are a few scenes in this movie that make me cry every single time, doesn't matter how many times I've seen them. The beacon scene is one of them, and then of course the ride of the Rohirrim
We appreciate all the efforts you put in Taco, it shows in the quality of your videos, despite all the obstacles you're facing! We all joined you for different reasons, such as League reactions, anime reactions or movie reactions. I hope to see those videos come out whenever they are ready, but please take your time and I wish you luck finding an editor if you haven't yet! I look foward to The Hobbit now that LOTR is done. For League, you've seen my Kayn Voicelines already to continue onto the Darkins. For Anime, I can recommend some if you want, but community polls are great too! Have a good rest of your week! Delta Out! 😊
You're one of my new favourite reactors! I've seen so many reactions to LOTR, and yours by far is one of my favs, can't wait to watch part 2!! (&3) 😊 thank you!
Hey man, appreciate your work in getting this thru the YT filters. Just stumbled upon you very recently and I enjoyed your watch sessions, especially since you do talk a lot about your thoughts of scenes are developing plots. I miss that with many others who watch those movies - just "WOW" and "OMG" doesn't do it for me. Thought, man - that's the stuff, and you deliver. Looking forward to watch your Return of the King videos, now. Godspeed.
We love your reactions! Your passion, attention to detail, and love of story telling make your videos a joy to watch. Keep going! May the algorithm be ever in your favor
My parents named me meriadoc, after the books, and only just last week i got a tattoo in elvish that says "Esq. of Rohan". growing up on these movies, i could not even explain. theyre so goated
this is for my man! one does not simply edit return of the king in a way that pleases youtube/ copyright laws... pretty sure this is how frodo felt carrying that damned ring around!
Really sorry they took the first video down, why can’t they loosen up about that? 😕 But either way I’m glad you’re pushing through and uploading these, your reactions are just too good not to share. 😄 As always I literally cannot wait to watch the rest of your journey - also bummed that they’re not playing The Return Of The King anywhere near me but hope you have the chance to see it on the big screen. It is beyond epic. 🤩🤩🤩
you can't tell from the movies, but Denethor was a great man once. one of the wisest men alive. but Sauron got to him through the Palantir (seeing-stones, like the one Pippin picked up) and even though he never handled the ring, you should remember that the whole reason the ring is evil and corrupting is because it IS part of Sauron. so repeatedly dealing with the Palantir's during this period of time when Sauron has mastery over them is not the same but similar to handling the ring. Sauron is the chief of all evil and corruption on Middle-Earth.
You seem like a very good person, Taco - I've loved watching your reactions to these movies, and I'm so glad you're powering through YT's b.s. I look forward to seeing what you do next, and I wish you all the ducts l success in the world 😊🌮🎉
Hello from Mordor by your fellow orc! Keep doing what you're doing. I can't help with a coin (because Patreon was suspended on the land of Mordor where the shadows lie by order of White council) but my evil corrupted spirit is wth you and longing for your further vids. You are great, man!
Hey dude, I love your reactions and commentary. Thanks for taking the time to get these out to us and for being genuine. I know it’s exhausting and tough, especially when shit gets taken down and all that hard work feels wasted, but I’ll still be here waiting for whatever ya feel like doing or uploading, as I’m sure many others will too. Thanks again, man, you’re a real one
Thanks man..yes it's very disheartening but the support has been real. All of you have definitely helped relieve the frustration I had with this whole situation..thank you 🙏🏿
Im wstvhing your videos in order.. i havent seen the othetlrs yet but im watching where they lit the beacons and all i can think is... "oh he finna LOSE HIS SHIT when he hears king theodens speach and the hobbits bowing at the end lol 😅
I'm sorry the reupload has been slower to grow but I hope you got some great new subs. I've only discovered you today but I can't wait to binge your videos today :)
Love the content! Rewatching these movies with someone that had never seen it before is like watching these phenomenal movies again for the very first time. The tears just keep coming back. 🌮
It a shame for all the YT shit, but the best thing is that you have this precious memory of your reaction to the greatest trilogy of all time. And I'm sure it will not be your last watch.
1st reaction is great however watching a movie for the 2nd time is good too! There’s a lot that many people don’t catch. Granted, I’m sure with extensive editing it may be the 10th time lol. But you have my support- regardless
Commenting as support for you and your channel Taco! As others have said, we appreciate all your efforts with this crazy uphill battle. Don't be discouraged, I know I'm not! I'm still here for your reactions, the thoughtful commentary, and the REALNESS of everything you do. Keep it up 😉 Love from Canada!
I love your react videos to these movies and your emotions. ❤ when I saw your excitement to the ringwraiths, I immediately wanted to know if you are familiar with Led Zeppelin's song, "Battle of Evermore" which has long been said to have been inspired by Tolkiens writing of Lord of the Rings. You'll love the line of "the ringwraiths ride in black... " -- take a listen to the song one of my forever favorites even before I was a LoTR fan. Keep posting these great videos! 😊
