This is beautiful, wow.. We are two sisters and maybe you'll like our *dark & dreamy* music too, feel free to check it out on our channel ^^ Hope you have a wonderful day xx
Its so funny how when this was released 4 years ago, the comments were positive and praising the performance. Now the entire internet is making fun of it lmao
I gotta give it to her. She has the balls to shush everybody sonthe only thing we hearvis her horrible performance? That much such confidence is admirable.
She later explained this was meant to be a cappella as you can see she doesn’t even have a microphone. Because she used to sing this song by herself on her room. She wanted to share that experience and you cannot hear her over people singing as well. I don’t think she meant Ill. My friend went to a recent concert in Chicago and mentioned she stopped doing the shushing cause it seemed to do more misunderstanding than anything. And just kept the microphone on the whole time. Still like her ☺️she’s pretty cool. People need to stop canceling so quickly
@@LatIenws that's what I'm saying. I don't really care about her shushing the crowd but she sounds horrible and still have the balls to sing a cappella? I wish I had that confidence.
'Melodrama', the album she was touring for 5 years ago when this happened, was a lauded by critics as a vocal masterpiece. But god forbid someone tries to sing acapella live for 10 seconds and the internet explodes half a decade later. Maybe y'all are just used to these chart topper pop stars using backing tracks that are louder than the singer's own microphone when you go see them live, so everything sounds just like the album - and you think it's "amazing". But at least Lorde has the lady balls to sing acapella live, and isn't afraid to bare the imperfections that come with doing something like that. That's better than all the lip syncing bullshit that you mistake for "talent". Maybe you're just too dumb to even know what real talent is
I think that's my favorite part of this track. At first I liked it but wasn't a huge fan, then I realized she styled the vocals so that the emotion is so obvious.
sophcocaine It's the lyrics, “I am my mother's child, I love you till my breathing stops.” She didn't say shut up the crowd's sudden silence was voluntary.
Queer. I watched it at least 40 times, it's obvious that she's telling the crowd to shut up, she stopped signing for a moment and the other hand was trying to stop them too
I think it's gone full modern art. Where it's really shitty it can't really be considered art or music, it's something....... different. And I guess there's people that like that stuff, idk why. Ig it makes them feel special, liking shitty things. Like, can I draw random shapes and lines? Yes. Can I sound like a dying cat? Yes. Give me millions of dollars ig 🤷🏻♀️
@@Terryterryterryterryterry what are you on about ?😭 you not liking her singing doesn’t mean she has to adjust her performance for you or that it’s modern art, which you probably don’t even know the meaning of 🤷♂️. Quite frankly I just think anyone who doesn’t like her singing in this hasn’t actually heard how the original song sounds. You people would much rather just look stupid criticizing a performance when it takes like 2 seconds to go look up how the original song sounds on Spotify.
@@Jaysontrejo I listened to it right before watching this video. I saw the clip on Instagram, searched for the studio version on RU-vid, then watched this video. The studio version sounds better.
this is amazing. what makes me sad is that i'll never have an experience like this. i'm from argentina and artists don't get here until they get big, and mostly play in arenas. which means i could never see her play in a chill bar with a really nice crowd that would stay quiet to hear her acapella :( i still hope she tours south america
I feel like people don’t realize this song is meant to sound like someone singing through crying. True brutal, howling, hysterical, and whining tears. Not the belt you see in a dramatic broadway scene with silent tears streaming down your face, but what it sounds like to really cry while singing your broken heart out. It’s powerful exactly because it’s real sounding, not because it’s a perfect vocal performance.
There are exact techniques and ways to sound that way, but this is actual bad singing, how can you deny that? She sounds like she's crying and that's it, but she can make it sound better, she's just not in this clip.
i get that she have this theme of tears and sadness but when you listen it doesn’t sound like crying i don’t get how people force their minds into thinking it does
It's funny when you casually see her at dairy when your buying an ice cream and she is buying an ice cream and your just like oh hey I saw you at Jordan's 18th ages ago and she's like oh yeah the night was amazing and your like it was then you just say bye. NZ is great tbh
This is going around TikTok now but just the beginning where she shushes the crowd but it honestly is so powerful a cappella. This is one of my favorite songs off of melodrama.
Sometimes I sing and pace around my room to music and I get embarrassed cause I imagine if I did that batshit on a stage in front of another soul. Watched this and found out what that would look like 💀
0:35 “til yOuh cawl the CAAHPZ ahn mee” 0:39 *random fart noise in an otherwise silent background* NEVER BEFORE HAVE I WHEEZED SO HARD AT 4 SECONDS OF FOOTAGE 💀😭💀
I love that first "I'll love you 'till my breathing stops" but she probably should've pulled in a breath at "stops", then continued. But running out of breath did have some effect, kind of like her voice was cracking in emotions or smth.
well when you listen to the actual song and isolate the vocals it's not far off. I think it's meant to sound like she's struggling because we know she could sing it smooth. But even in the studio version isolated vocals are a lot like this.
@@snoopdoggthecertifiedg6777 Ah, I see the latest tik tok hate train mob has found it's way to the WITD acapella. It's interesting nobody gave a shit about her shushing the crowd until someone told you to get mad about it
@@tinyhotopicbitch That’s an interesting reply. Pretty rude, too. This video was in my recommended, I clicked on it, and thought it was terrible. I’m giving my opinion. She’s shushing her fans and sounding like garbage, what’s not to hate?
@@snoopdoggthecertifiedg6777 And your reply wasn't rude? Lmfao. It's in your recommendations because a bunch of sheep on tik tok with no jobs suddenly decided it was problematic, go ahead have a shit opinion like the rest of the hate train, this has been a legendary video for years
Am I the only person that thinks this sounds rather bad and she shouldn’t have shushed the crowd. If you wanted to sing it alone maybe say that before the song starts?
@@moren321 it's not outdoor, there was no backing track, she wasnt standing close to the mic so she was expecting everyone can chill and enjoy her voice, and what's the point of singing and dubbing ur fav artist at the end of the show?
I don't think an album has ever made me cry like Melodrama. It's beautiful and I fully appreciate all the work and pain that went into it. Absolutely the best album of the year for me.
Wow people are very obsessive if they are coming back to a video because of tik tok. Although Tik Tok viewers do lack an attention span and creativity.
I will admit it the song is amazing but "I'll L O V E you till my breathing stoPS,, I'll lOve you till you call the CoPs on mEeE" had me crying my eyes out
This is masterful. It will be remembered as a true artistic moment by any open heart who witness it, while the jokes in the crude comments will only be forgotten.
Lol these people praising her in these comments must be as high as she was during this "performance." Her movements are uncoordinated, and her eyes have that hollow almost glazed look; she's on something.
So? Would you call pink Floyd's "the wall" a "performance"? How about zeppelin 4? Pearl jam? George Jones? You must be pretty proud bashing a rich, young and famous singer. How many shows have you sold out? 🤡
I love it how on the chorus the audience got quiet and didn't sing because they can't reach high notes OR they got quiet to appreciate Lorde for being an awesome artist with her voice! 💚
Looking at the comment section just pisses me off. The reason why most of us love this, not because of the perfect vocals (which is the only factor that you guys seem to consider for great music, and I beg to differ) Lorde does not have this powerful vocals like Ariana Grande who can shoot high notes to no end. The thing about this performance is how she sang it. How much emotion she poured into it, the quiver, the shakes, and that's what made it so beautiful. Some people can't appreciate art like this. Some, like me, however feels it so deeply, and it's quite amazing. :)
Well I came for the sush too but she actually killed this and the crowd was great for giving a complete silence to her and respecting her . Huge Respect for the crowd.
writer in the dark is my favourite song of the album honestly I love the whole album but this song is just amazing thank you so much for making it 💖💖💖💖💖💖
If she did silence the audience, I bet it was because it’s hard to stay in key when singing acapella and somebodies off key singing could seriously mess her up
Um, she was off-key as hell what you taking about. Sucka. She is a terrible singer bro. She silenced the audience because she is a narcissistic biatch.
I don't care if this sounds delulu, but i love this performance. this is a super emotional song and homegirl got super emotional; what more do ya'll want? no but seriously i just had to hear a clip of her singing just "i am my mother's child, i'll love you till my breathing stops..." on its own cus im going through it. again, maybe i'm delulu but this is hitting loool.

Sean. Ol stupid Sean. You seriously think I wouldn't find you, after what you did? Heh, seriously. You should've thought twice about this. I'm going there, tonight. Imma sort this out. Prove to you that that I am better. 2 of August 2022.
Well she's not singing to sound auto tune good like the fake sad songs that's were popular in the 2000's. she's putting emotion to this particular song called write in the dark it's a song about her horrible past going from angry voice to sad voice I'm pretty sure it's about a past toxic ex calling the cops on her
@@thegod300jr first off there are singers from the 2000’s that sound good both w and w/o autotune secondly, u can sing w emotion w/o sounding like absolute shit -if ur a trained singer. this is a little exaggerated
