Lol people hate on her just because she doesn't conform to your idea of a typical 18 year old "pop star." Lorde's a musician. And she can actually sing for a change. Plus I think she's a great entertainer, it's great to see someone so into their music they're oblivious to what people think of them. She's fucking badass!
Friends with the cookie cutters of Hollywood, yet has an utterly unique sound and style, Plus writes her own music? Sounds like a nonconformist to me. Your friends don't define you, unless you let them.
She killed this. Everyone wants her to be the typical everyday artist but the thing is she's not. She's being herself and last time I checked her being herself is the reason she won 2 Grammys at 17 years old and had a number one album the biggest thing you haters ever won was free fries from McDonald's
+iKlaSiicKoNii It's not quirky gestures its her staying on the beat and keeping the flow right. You see it alot with rappers etc it's used as timing tool.
god this cover is so good. every now and then it pops in my head and i have to come back and give it another listen. she makes this song so sultry and dark and good.
How can people sit behind their computers or phones or whatever they're using and say such horrible things to lorde? She's amazingly cool and down to earth. Are Americans just used to the Hollywood style??? She's one of the only artists in the music industry that i can stand. I swear people are always complaining about such little things. I really hope lorde isn't reading the RU-vid comments. It's sooooo harsh and cruel
tru got mad respect for Lorde coz of her passion and going after what she love most at a very young age... the way she danced in this video is cool too :)
Totally agree. I dont go on RU-vid to bash artists i dont like.. why use the time you have to talk down to people that literally have nothing to do with your life simply because you cant stand them?? Then why go look for them its like stalking your nemesis and im almost positive normal productive people with 9-5s dont stalk people they hate. JUST SAYING
I hope Lorde doesn't come on here and see the negativity and let it phase her. I love her, and this performance. It's not my favorite by her no, but she's having such a good time and she's enjoying herself. She looks so secure in her style and that's more you can say for most girls in general. Lorde dances like she's alone in her room on national television, that's just her courage and her uniqueness and I think it's brilliant she's teaching her fans to be courageous and secure rather than teaching them how to feel insecure and to write about sex, partying, or how to walk around looking undressed. So yeah, I love Lorde.
Jordi WATCH THIS WHOLE TRAILER ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8eiQWv3KaSo.html Looking for people to be interviewed about pop culture.
that is exactly what i tell haters she's making money at the end of the day do you honestly think that she gives a fuck that you don't like her movement! thank you for saying exactly what i was thinking.
The people laughing at the way she acts when singing are clearly not musicians, for they do not understand the passion an artist gets when they perform.
KhaanRaptorex They just don't know that feeling, goin up ur spine then quickly down to the toes, just to rush back up to ur neck, skin covers in prickly bumps, teeth clinched, can't sit still but froze at the same time, could tear thru a wall & bust in to tears..... Whew! Got me all worked up just thinkin 🎶🎧🎸 Just a bit of the physical, for those sad, non-feelin folks 🤔 I won't even go down the mental rabbit hole!
Her gestures are so addictive to watch! And the way she croons 'Don't tell'em' is so amazing. She's such an astonishing performer, surprises me all the time. Frankly, I don't deem her gestures to be any different than those of an American rap artiste, so everyone needs to introspect a bit here and appreciate the performance we just saw.
everyone is uncomfortable and angry because a girl cant cover a song, wear the clothes she likes, sing the way she does, or dance how she wants. basically, anything outside of the tightly knit societal bounds that the world has set in place confuses everyone and then makes them angry. angry over someone who does things a little differently then they do. why do you care so much? pathetic ps: look how cute she is at 3:33 how can u hate that
Everyone gets a bit chuffed when their favourite song gets changed. Particularly when the original genre and the genre of the cover are on two seperate planets stylistically. It's like taking Eric Clapton's iconic 'Layla' and covering it in a punk rock style. People would absolutely riot at the bastardisation. Covering a song in a completely different genre alienates the people who originally found the song interesting, that's why everyone is kicking up a fuss.
Very talented. That little dance she does is awesome. It's her thing. Every artist has some little thing they do when in the studio. It's pretty wicked. A little funny to see, but she owns it. I love it. To me it's one of those things only that person can do.
+Nyah Crawford . Nah she's obviously a Kiwi girl. If you didn't get it from her voice you could tell from watching her being natural and dancing in bare feet
her dancing is so funny but you can tell she's getting into the music and that's important in an artist because nowadays most artists look so bored of singing the same songs over and over again.
+XiaoZian I know! How stressful what it be to have to dance absolutely in sync every second of the song... Lorde just does whatever the hell she wants and it works.
I'm just going to point out the fact that a lot of you are making fun of her for the way she moves her body. It's a human body, and you're making fun of her because she moves her body in a way you deem odd or strange. Yeah, that's a little ridiculous.
She's so perfect! Her style, her voice!!! This is better than the original. She's different and original. I love her for not caring what people think about her.
I actually like the way she moves. It makes me smile seeing how she smiles and and how she actually really enjoys it. I look silly when I dance like that, too. I think it's really cute and it makes me happy.
ART. This cover hit ALL of my aesthetic expectations, right down to the purposely awkward dance moves that make it even more aesthetically pleasing because it creates the whole character of this version of the song. This was perfect for her. LOOOVE.
I love how confident she is. Not only about her physical appearance but she has also entered the music industry, which is so harsh, and kept who she is as a person. She is such a wonderful idol for her young fans and the people who 'hate' her need to shut up to be honest.
You can see how precisely she feels each beat, the rhythm of the song quite literally compels her to move in certain ways. I get this way too. It's about feeling the music.
ThisIsDjYigytugd That's true but she is the minority. It's quite naive to imply that appearance isn't of extreme importance to gain success in the entertainment industry here in the states. Um do you really think Beyoncé would be where she is if she didn't look like that and sell sex the way she does? Be real. And it's not "American stereotypes" it's the entertainment industry and how it operates. Don't be a fool
Wtf am I seriously the only one that likes this. Lorde kills it. The sick beat it's different and her voice is so unique. This might be better than the original.
I think her voice is beautiful and mesmerising. She's doing her thing and it's refreshing to see an artist be so passionate and be in the moment while performing. When lorde performs she doesn't care what anyone thinks. She's just doing her thing and her voice is just unique.
I'm from the same city as her. Kiwi artists are nothing like American or European "Pop Stars". Music is apart of the culture and we embrace it with one another. We don't put people down for being themselves. We encourage uniqueness and that's what our music industry is like. We don't need to listen to the same thing everyday. Switching it up and putting our own twist on something makes things better. Specially when a song is thrashed so much you hate it
i clicked on this knowing i was gonna hear Lorde covering don't tell em, and yet i was surprised when i even heard the beat and her voice, she's so unusual, so easy to fall in love with- and i say this as someone who completely hated royals and heard the rest of her album only to keep hearing it for the rest of my life. I love her, even her moves, her hair, her expression and what she does best, her music. obsessed!
I just love Lorde because she obviously doesn't care if she looks ridiculous dancing the way she does. I actually think it's cute an endearing because she's herself, and she's comfortable. Not to mention she has a different voice, and having something different isn't always a bad thing.
Can’t believe im only finding this now. This is GREAT! Those voice cracks and Lorde obviously enjoying herself and grooving and Ella being a pure wholesome bean who is also really pretty is everything
i used to dislike lorde so much and i thought she was a shame on alternative rock music industry and her album didn't deserve to be the best rock album back 2013 i guess but gosh this cover i gotta give it to her she really owned it !
This is DOPE! SO f**king good. And the song itself is totally suited to her. She owns her style (music, fashion, moves, they all go together) and rocks it hard. Loosing yourself in the music is an awesome thing, it'd be crap if she just stood there, that's not Lorde. Lorde is this super talented human being you see getting lost in the music!
the funniest thing here, is not her hand movements, but the fact that all the people leaving these negative comments CAME HERE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO. And those of you leaving those comments, if you knew anything, anything at all about body language, you'd easily be able to see that she's moving with the rhythm of the song, she is absorbed in the song both physically and mentally, which exemplifies why she is such a rare artist in todays industry. definitely better than the original, keep doing you Lorde.
fucking hell she gets more amazing every performance!! she made this her own, her energy while performing lets you know she is feeling it. most pop artists can't move like that while performing without faking singing and yes most pop artists do. she shows you she is into it it helps her get what she needs in her voice to perform and she just has pure talent.
I was reminded of this cover when the original come in my playlist today. This rendition slaps, she made it darker but still danceable! Loved her take and how she expressed herself!
I can't express my love for her enough! She is incredible and I think she has real talent. Beautiful voice, wonderful and interesting lyrics, and clear creative genius. This rendition is great and I don't think that a lot of other popular artists are able to cover a song outside of their genre as well as she can. Love her. Mad respect.
The record is written, we're in the production stage now. I've worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys." says lorde this week.
Lorde is one of the few artists out there who you can see and hear that they really FEEL the music. Some haters out there criticize her dancing, to me her moves are not only in time with the music but also are her expression of the music and words. Top marks for this talented musician. I hope remains true and does not get absorbed into the generic music and style of so many other musicians out there.
