Thank you for the video, we played it over Xmas, and we found the learning curve hard, the very first day we halfway decided to pack it up because we got literally a migraine trying to learn it and no one knew what they were doing, the flow chart was overwhelming and rules ambiguous ... Then we watched your video and after that, we decided to have another go... and we had a blast, we had several games and I have to say maybe this is not a mind-blowing game but it is a good and fun area control game if you give it a chance ...thank you
I'm curious to know if you decided to give it another go after watching my review or after watching my how-to-play video 😅 Because in my review I'm not so kind with the game ;) But in anycase I'm always happy to know that someone had a good time playing a board game! How was the down time aspect for you? Did you play it at 4 players..?
I did not try lord of ragnarok, but it does not seem to be an improvement on lords of hellas at all (which I like a lot). Don't know if you tried LoH? There still some criticism that can be applied to both games, but I feel the production is much better in LoH. Everything seems to be clearer on the board as well. LoH is definitely a chaotic game, but once you've learned it, the balance should be coming from the players. I always teach it saying you must play towards all objectives at all time simply because if you focus your strategy too much and get countered, it's way too difficult to pivot to something else and/or you can feel the game is unbalanced because you can not react well to other players strategies. Overall LoH seems like the better game to me, but again I have not tried LoR
Yeah, as mentioned in the video I've never played LoH and I kind of want to do it just to make sure I'm not missing something. I find it super hard in LoR to play towards all possible victory conditions because you're simply all over the place! And again, since the downtime is extremely tiring, at some point you're kind of losing your way if you know what I mean. For me LoR is just an expensive production of a game I didn't enjoy. It's like... it had all the ingredients, but the reault was just not good. Thank you for commenting! 😊
I agree that this is a game for three players rather than more. I really enjoyed it. But still prefer Hellas, frome game experience perspective. As to production, this is really amazing and better than Hellas.
Yeah but even for the production... there are still things I didn't like and botheted me. Not to mention the price tag :/ For this amount of money, it needs to be a good game overall, or just a disappointment..
@@ezbgames I wouldn't go as far as say that it is not a good game. There are flaws. Maybe they can be fixed with some rule tweeks. Anyway, yea, the price tag is too high. Way too high. Especially for us in Israel LOL
We just played it over Christmas and had a blast ... never played Hellas but we really enjoyed lord of Ragnarok.. we did find a learning curve steep though took a while to get into it...
