Woah I'm so glad you took up ghosting. No one playsss like a ghost. And I am still waiting for a reward system from ubisoft to leave guards alive like splinter cell. And like you said, it fits perfectly with the assassin fantasy. I can't really ghost odyssey, because you get a lot of xp from stealth streak killing guards. I ghosted most of Mirage, because killing guards really didn't give me anything.

People aren’t gonna like this one but also try to wear NON hooded clothing as much as possible. For the games where that’s not possible, try to wear the most casual looking robes. The hooded robes should only be worn for some assassinations (preferably at night) and ceremonies/meetings in game with the other Assassins.

In Unity I always "role-play" wearing the raider outfit since it's the most inconspicuous looking one out of the bunch, it's plain brown and just makes Arno look like your dime a dozen peasant with the tattered hood (equip the skinner axe or pickaxe for extra immersion). Though since the recent explosion of mods, model swapping Arno with NPC models offers even more option. For AC4, whaler outfit is unbeatable for both style and believability.

Canon-friendly playing I think is among one of the most fun ways to play an AC game. Flashy stealth like Arno, combat-focused approaches like Connor, precision stealth like Altaïr, all of that. And yes, it will indeed make it feel like you’re roleplaying the characters in question. More immersion indeed. And then we have Jacob Frye, all stabby stabby

How would you go about playing a canon-friendly Ezio? Off the top of my head, he doesn't have as many obvious distinguishing features gameplay-wise; most of his character seems to be more reliant on the writing than in gameplay (vs the Kenways for instance). Using the recruits a lot in Brotherhood and Revelations, I guess?

Wearing a HOOD with flashy cloths which makes you stand out in the crowd full of normal people is the most lore-inaccurate thing (I am pointing at you Ezio😂), JACOB's base varient is the best modern day assassin look which helps in social sealth.

It's accurate for Altair in the first game even from real life history perspective, just as for anything else. It's also accurate for him and Basim in Baghdad from setting perspective. For everyone it's just game lore shananigans, it makes no sense for everyone else, even for Bayek in hot Egypt (funnily enough, vikings wore cloacks occasionally) in terms of social stealth if you try and think how that went IRL. But hey, we love our hooded guys and these games in the end of the day!

Imagine if there was an AC game where you have to uphold the tenants of the creed. Like let's say, you can choose to kill an innocent scribe to get a key and get to the target easier, but the creed will distrust you more and more. I know it would not happen since the story would be dumb, but just a thought.

One thing i always try to imagine when being stealthy is looking at it from a birds eye view or a guard’s perspective. Imagine guarding a base and one by one everyone starts to randomly disappear and not knowing whos doing this, this makes u feel even more cool or deadly. And from a birds eye view, you just see a hooded killer silently clearing out guards. I’m glad you made this video, since AC is a such a huge franchise many casuals wouldn’t know the lore behind being an assassin and how you can tackle missions. For us hardcore AC fans, true immersion and FEELING like an assassin is extremely important. So thank you for your content, your content is truly unique and amazing. ❤

I love playing AC in the most stealthy and lore accurate way possible. That's why I loved the Merchant and Eunuch tunics in Mirage, I wore them pretty much every time I would make use of social stealth since they blend so well with the environment. In Unity I used to do the same, trying to wear the set that would fit the enviroment the most. For example, wearing the initial Sans Cullotes sets on the Court of Miracles or the military sets in the Robespierre missions with the army men as enemies. Doing stuff like this or wearing the Merchant's Tunic during the grand auction from Mirage really boosts the immersion for me.

None of them has any Assassin's Creed knowledge let alone historical one about Assassins, but they are loving it so far and are deeply invested. I made my own lore, using real ismaili history as a foundation and setting it in 1192. The system is taking inspiration from Hitman missions structucture and AC1 investigations of targets, to prioritise expression, immersion and social stealth. Best AC related experience I have ever had.

Map markers and Animus GPS systems are a video game contrivance we use to get around these worlds, but consider how your ancestor actually found their next mission. Did someone give them detailed instructions like the rafiqs did for Altair? Did they follow the sun and stars to sail there like Edward? Did Eagle Vision light the way like it did for Ezio in Revelations or their connection to a companion animal like the recent protagonists? For this playstyle you'll disable any and all HUD assists for navigation and avoid checking the map as much as possible. You'll have to internalize the map layout, pay attention to context clues, take notes on verbal instructions, or check the database for information on where you're going. You will also get lost a lot. AC1 and Origins-Mirage are the best for this, but Revelations, Black Flag, and Rogue are sort of playable

My playstyle has two rules: stealthy infiltration, chaotic exfiltration So, every open-ended mission ends up having stealth, combat, and Parkour. Before killing the target, I aim to kill minimal guards and hide all bodies. After killing the target with a high profile execution, I thin the hoard of guards immediately upon me using tools and quick melee combat before I make the escape as flashy as possible which is why I always plan the exit route. The Kenway games have gunpowder you can place at key points that you can quickshot on your way out, and you can also end your chase with a Leap of Faith most of the times which is satisfying beyond measure. The idea is to make the assassination public and strike fear into the enemies left standing before you vanish like a ghost

@BearOfTheDead
@BearOfTheDead Месяц назад
I always try to build my playstyle around the first game. Though the increased variety of tools you get in future games is nice, there's nothing quite like being that "blade in the crowd" they emphasized so much in the first game. Whenever I'm forced to go loud, I normally just do it how that given assassin would. So really, I just sort of mix the first two options in a sense. A good assassin knows when to be showy and when to be subtle. We also play without the HUD in this household.

The hardest thing about these is deciding "who should I kill?" For example, the intel gathering missions of Mirage feature you breaking into places with just regular guards doing their jobs or just protecting someone's home, so to me it's 10x more difficult doing those than infiltrating a bandit hideout since I don't believe Basim would kill regular guards during his inteligence missions considering that it'd be both morally wrong and it would alert his main targets. Another great example of this is in Origins. Bayek wouldn't kill people just minding their business on an outpost he's about to steal, but if it's a Roman outpost then he would go full reaper mode since he is actively attempting to liberate his people from the empire as seem in The Hidden Ones. Playing this way not only increases your immersion but also keeps the game fresh since you'll never be repeating the same gameplay loop for too long.

The issue with this is alot of people don’t seem to care about playstyles anymore. In 2010, when you went over to your friends house to play ac 3 or Skyrim the experience was the same with or without them, it was awesome. The graphics seemed hyper realistic and YOUR IMAGINATION built the world. But now I don’t see kids doing that it’s just online. They don’t care about single player story they’ve been brainwashed to avoid that.

Playing Black flag i noticed that Edward rarely if ever took his swords out, in cutscenes he only draws a single sword, so for a lot of my multiple playthroughs I went with only hidden blades/unarmed, choosing Ghosting for a few missions, mainly those that I tough dead bodirs could be a problem (either for infiltration or canon stealth) The fact 100% scync is canon you can guide yourself throughout a way things might played out Also Edward was a menace, if he was found, there would be no witnesses...concious, I always felt Edward was not that fond of unnecesary bloodshed, if they didn't get on his way

For first playthroughs, I tend to do a combination of these. I set 'ghosting' as like my character foundation. Then depending on the narrative and what the character is feeling, I might deviate during some missions. One memorable time was when I was attempting to ghost black flag. I'm replaying Black Flag and I'm trying to play the early game the way I think an ambitious self serving pirate would if he just accidentally stumbled upon a war between 2 secret societies. So far, he thinks the templars are just a bunch noble bastard schemers who ripped him off. He has no clue who these "Assassin" guys are or what their deal is but he keeps finding there messages in pigeon coops so he helps them out with assassinations because it makes him some decent money and also out of spite for the templars who, again, he thinks are just a bunch mizer assholes who screwed him over. Outside of that, his ambitions are solely selfish, only caring to do what makes him money or fund his goals. My favorite moment so far is what I will remember as "The Battle for the Humpback". Edward was sailing to a humpback whale sighting so he could improve his gear. It was in a red enemy zone, though, so it was flooded with enemy ships. Instead of whaling in the middle of a bloodthirsty audience, Edward proceded to assault, plunder, and sink around 15 spanish brigs and frigates until the waters were finally clear enough to safely hunt his true prey. He not only left with his humpback prize but also a small fortune in rum and sugar that would fund the upgrades to make his ship even more deadly with all the materials he stole. Black Flag is truly one of the greatest games ever made.

In my full sync black flag playthrough, i imagined ‘chapters’ in edwards life after the main story. So i did the assassin contracts and templat hunts with the stealth outfit, the viewing points with the whaler outfit and the naval contracts, warehouses etc. With the edward the legend outfit. I really enjoyed and ofc also did the playstyle with the fitting outfit with the pirate being reckless, the assassin stealth focused, and the whaler outfit never killing. It may not be completely canon but it doesn’t matter that much to me. I really liked this way of playing. It was a way to keep me playing because most of the time i dont have the patience to complete all the side missions

I have been a diehard fan of AC since the first game. I was 17 when AC1 released and the franchise developed as I grew into a man. I always tried to play as stealthily as possible, killing every enemy in the room and get out undetected. My version of the Creed was slow and methodical, but with time and as games went on my style didn't change and that turned into a stale playstyle that made me abandon the franchise. I skipped most of the American saga, abandoned Unity and Syndicate halfway and never clicked with the RPG saga. I thought it was over for me until I watched this video of yours and the one on Arno as a character. Suddenly it all made sense and I played some of the old games again, this time going out of my comfort zone (which had gone stale) and started "roleplaying" as my character. Suddenly everything clicked again and I felt really happy about being able to enjoy this franchise again. I will surely try again with the newer games like Unity, Syndicate and Mirage with this new mindset, and for that I have to thank you and these videos. Gracias y un saludo de parte de otro español.

I usually go about playing the games as a lone «Green Beret» from the game series Commandos. And I love taking out guards one by one, carrying them away into hiding spots, so that the other guards never find out. And if I get detected I usually go into a brawl with several guards. I also do some missions in the manner you talk mostly about in this video “Ghosting”, but not an entire play-through. I especially love this way, the way I said in the beginning of my comment, in AC3, BF and Rogue. But this is my go-to playstyle, and I’ve not gotten bored of it yet.

Even though it wasn't in an Assassin's Creed game, I tried the ''role play'' style of play in Ghost of Tsushima, in which at the beginning of the game I just use open combat like a samurai would, and as I progressed through the game I started changing the style of play and I only used stealth until the end, to pretend that I was really making the change from samurai to ghost. And I must say that it was a completely different experience from the first time I played (a better experience)

The easiest thing to do by far that gives kind of immersion in playing is trying to do a "full synchronization" in every mission. It kinda makes you feel that you are playing it the way the "memory" is supposed to be played but also giving you a sense of freedom on how you will approach the missions while doing the optional objectives.

2:16 I think it would be cool if camps had a guard quarters in the middle and when you kill someone another guard will take his place in 2 minutes. This would add some pressure and would also mean you can’t just clear an area, you have too sneak in. And maybe if you reach the barracks you can bar the door so they stop respawning

My favorite playstyle is ghost (with accidental deaths) so only allowing deaths can could be claimed as "accidents". Crates falling is just happenstance, someone falling into a river and drowing is just bad luck. People dont "end up" in haystacks. My favorite canon playstyle is edward kenway. He has a very care free style to start out but then eventually becomes responsible. The second person is ezio. His play style changes based on the game. In the first game he is reckless because he is young and inexperienced. The second game he becomes ruthless because of his previous mercy coming back to bite him in the ass. Finally he slows down and become methodical because of his age and experience in his third game

I think this is a big problem that so many AAA games suffer from: They do not have a clear focus on encouraging the player to play in the most fun way. AC I think has always struggled with this, as it gives you so many tools and lee-way to just fight your way through everything, how it doesn't really make/force the player to use stealth unless restricting them with an instant fail-state (boo!). It really reminds me of Watch Dogs, how vast majority of people probably never saw the cool John Wick takedowns because they just shot everyone from a far and spammed grenades: The game simply never asked you to play in the more fun way. The design was too loose.

While it would technically fall under 2nd option, AC1 perfect synchronization. The synchronization bar ("health bar") in AC1 acts as a sort of canon filter in a way. If it drops, something non-canon happened. The order to kill the targets especially in the act with 3 targets is important as well (as that act it's easy to do them out of order).

Another way to increase immersion is to play the dub for whatever language the assassin would speak/hear. So French in Unity, Arabic in Mirage etc. Also don't use the maps for a place the character wouldn't need them. Like Ezio wouldn't need a map to traverse Florence but he would need one to get around Venice

I recently replayed Black Flag with a mod that changes the combat to the style of AC3 and gives the standard soliders muskets. I decided to see could I beat the entire campaign wihout dying and it was incredibly fun, having to fully rely on stealth as I could be easily overwhelmed in combat, having to prioritise every use of an item to ensure I could complete each encounter and having to use parkour to escape large amounts of guards, it was great. As you were saying, playing as an actual Assassin will always be the best way to play the series besides being an unstopable killing machine.

I kinda do the second and last one quite a bit and I thought I was the only one. I almost do a combination of them both sometimes. I play through roleplaying as the protagonist but even outside of cutscenes I tend to act like they would and create their own dialogues in my head and have their own moments. For example in Assassins Creed 3 I played as Connor in my head (obviously) but as the story went along he would become more disgruntled and angry and it would change his outfits correspondingly. Until at the very end he would end up with the Red and Black outfit as a completely different man and he would end up with a completely different personality in my head with a new outfit to boot.

Something I do is try to mimic the novelization of the games. For example in the Black Flag Novel Edward sneaks into the fort in Havana using dancers so that’s how I would sneak in. This method doesn’t work for everything because there are some things you can’t mimic but overall I find it to be a fun challenge that makes me feel more immersed.

I have only been recently able to play ac games and decided to 100% all of them by the order they came out (ac1 in 2024 is still incredible) . One thing I have really liked so far in ac1 and 2 was using the collectible as a way to just improve parkour. It was really fun going from flag to flag in ac1 always trying to improve and get faster. Its not really combat related but a nice play style that removes the usual boredom of collectibles and really trains the parkour. Currently on brotherhood.

I really enjoyed the video, this has nothing to do with the content in this video but I would really like to see your take on the moral decisions Ezio takes in ac revelations, I really love that game's narratives but some of the choices he makes like the riot to storm the arsenal and a more gray one like blowing up the gunpowder in Cappadocia were very surprising and interesting to me, I am not saying he was entirely wrong to do it or that he was out of character since it can be argued that both decisions were time sensitive and there wasn't really a different way. An interesting case is presented in AC origins the cannon way you initially go through with combat filled with revenge and blood lust but when the main story ends you become this stealth guy in hidden ones dlc who thinks if it is right to assassinate a target in the open. I can recommend a full assassin play Stile in the RPG games. It make it way more like a “Assassins Creed” (if you want that). And it’s always nice to play Ac without pistols or knifes, darts, etc, so you can relate to the “real” job as an assassin. Not history accurate.

I tend to favor dark colors (dark blue, blacks, grays, etc.) and try to stay away from flashy clothing, except during the day when I'm exploring a city and not trying to hide from anyone. One thing I wish all the games had that would, in my opinion, make the games super immersive, is the ability to lift and remove the hood at will. That's one thing I do love about Valhalla - I explore without the hood but right before a stealth segment, I always lift it. I feel like I'm turning into a demon. Like an anti-hero suiting up. I also make it nighttime before a stealth segment whenever possible. Assassins would feel at home in the shadows. Nighttime, dark clothes, the hood = maximum immersion. Like an angel of death.

I personally do the third way every single time. I play every time as an assassin who’s one goal is to never leave witnesses. Guards: dead. Target: Dead. Any civilians who may have seen the kill: Dead. He is always the most efficient assassin but is mistrusted by the other members because he follows the creed only when it suits him and is mainly there because he likes the other members of the creeed.

Playing in an immersive style is my go to as well. I’ve seen so many negative reviews for AC Mirage and their gameplay is just hack & slashing through the game & exploiting certain mechanics. The game is great if you use the tools and skills available and play it with a purpose. Personally, I like to strike hard and fast without ever being seen whenever possible in AC games. But if a fight comes I’m going to make it look cool & or escape. Heavily influenced by Stealth Gamer BR on RU-vid & I aim to get as good as he is in AC games with my own style & flare

I'm replaying all the AC games (now I'm playing Brotherhood) and I think everyday about what should I do to stay in character and follow the lore. With AC2, I played all the secondary missions when they canonically happened, and adopted a different approach for each period of Ezio's life. When he was younger I mainly avoided stealth, as he was still training with the sword at Monteriggioni, so when I had to I "faked" an improvised and imprecise stealth. When Leonardo crafted the second blade and showed the other techniques, I shifted more towards my own realistic stealth. Now Brotherhood is making it easier thanks to the synchronization objectives, which leaves me room to both have fun with improvisation and stay in character with Ezio. By the way, I'm dedicating a lot of time in reflecting and studying each character and the lore in general, so I wanted to ask you what is in your opinion the best play style for Ezio's games, specifically for each game/sequence/fase of his life
