Has anyone clocked the shabriri grapes/madness connection with Dionysus, Pan (Bacchus) and the Eleusinian mysteries, which also include mention of Cybele who is depicted in the ruins of Rauh?
@MitridatedCarbon
@MitridatedCarbon Месяц назад
cybele's name is magna mater, literally greatmother, how the shaman "grandmother" is translated in Japanese. maybe she is the "Grandmother" Marika prayed to.
@TaveosMelek
@TaveosMelek Месяц назад
@@MitridatedCarbon That's sick. Cybele also has relations to Hekate. So there's some triple goddess stuff going on there too. GEQ maybe? Seduction and Betrayal? Mama mia

Coming back after watching part of it yesterday. It seems to me Godfrey was HL, than became Godfrey when he ascended, and when he was exiled he became warrior once again.

I am still not convinced the omen curse is the same as hornsent. There are so many hints pointing to it being directly caused by the hornsent's vengeance. We know the hornsent can manifest/control the spirits of the dead, we know horns house spirits, we know the omen are haunted by nightmsres of spirits, and from the omenkillers we know that these spirits have faces akin to hornsent.
@MitridatedCarbon
@MitridatedCarbon Месяц назад
I feel omen are basically hornsent, but born during an age there is no knowledge in how to deal with these growths and powers so they don't develop in a healthy manner. the wraiths the omen summon are probably spirits and sprites the omen can summon and see thanks to the horns, but since nobody taught them how to control it, they are consumed by it.

Marika is /part/hornsent after coming out from the jar as their successful saint no?
@guqmund
@guqmund Месяц назад
@@HuehuehueWoloooIn the japanese text, "saint" is more like "good person". I feel the whole jar-sainting is closer to "suffering breeds character" than trying to manifest a certain divinity. And we don't even know if Marika ever was in a jar.

Yeah if you hit grandma, she directly says: “a curse upon Marika’s children each and all… A curse of the Omen shall strike thee down” This quite literally confirms that Omens aren’t Hornsent, but are a result of the curse of vengeance brought on the Erdtree’s lineage upon the genocide of their kin. It’s Lovecraftian. Marika tried to enact revenge, but in doing so, she committed the sin of murdering an ancient cult. A cult that has power of vengeful spirits. Marika doomed her lineage when she made contact with (killed*) the ancient deities of the crucible spirits. The Omen are just a curse, theyre not Hornsent. This is further reinforced by how different the Horns protrude with the respective horned people. Hornsent usually only grow horns that are contained exclusively around their shoulder/Head area, whereas the curse of the Omen makes it so that they’re entire bodies are horned - a chaotic force of nature, animalistic, like the crucible itself. (Sidenote: Omen in our world usually means something that is a sign of Evil or a prophecy of Evil. Omen in the context of Elden Ring is something that is specifically a curse that plagues, and exists outside, the Erdtree’s Golden Order. Both definitions of Omen are similar. Hornsent Grandam calling her own Kin ‘Omen’ would not make much sense, so it’s more likely that Omens are seen as curse by Hornsent people just as much as they are seen as curses by Marika’s people, hence Grandams direct words: “the CURSE of the Omen shall strike thee”. The entire purpose of Omen is to be a curse, universally, indiscriminately. They’re not Hornsent descendants)

@donimmortal7692 26 дней назад
I think the curses is just superstitious. There is a more "scientific" explanation. Since the Erdtree were created from the Crucible, it stand to reason that some of its traits still left in the tree. So when souls go to the processing and reincarnated from the Erdtree, it might pick up those traits by accident. A great example of this is the Dung Eater who can manufacture Omen by tainted his victim's souls with horns and when they reborn, they will be Omen.

Am I the only one who finds that the Fell God resembles the Phoenician god Moloch? The Fire Giant even has an eye that resembles the hexagon of Saturn. Around 4,000 years ago, the Sun god -of the ancient Sumerians- was represented by the Astrological Age of Taurus (the Bull). This association has led some to believe that Saturn and Moloch are the same deity. The themes of sacrifice, fire, Saturn imagery, and potentially the Sun suggest a connection. Saturn was sometimes regarded as the 'Black Sun' or 'Night Sun,' and it was considered the polar opposite of the Sun. Also we all have seen the Jupiter storms image which are an identical match to the Fire Giants eye, but that image is HEAVILY edited. The actual storms on Jupiter's pole look nothing like that, they're not even red. This is why i believe Saturn is a closer match.

The staue in Inir Elihm, my first thought was two figures embracing with a serpent wrapped around them. Which made me think Marika and the gloam eyed queen (As im convinced still thats who she betrayed and got the golden shards from)

Radagon is the “evil” side of Marika. She’s the kindness of grace without order and radagon brought order to the golden order literally. They are yin and yang

I wonder if they decided not to do Godwyn solely because it would interfere with the Fia stuff in the main game
@HeevaEgo

Probably. I also think that Miyazaki preferably wanted to honour George RR Martins story, instead of branching out and doing his own thing. He probably had to choose between finishing Martins story with Shadow of the Erdtree, or make a completely new dlc unrelated to the core story that revolves around the Eclipse and Godwyn. Obviously we know what he ended up choosing, as a result of honouring martins mythos. Would’ve been cool to see Godwyn stuff with cool eclipse imagery, but I fully love that Miyazaki chose to complete Elden Ring instead. (And yes, I agree, I think that Miyazaki used FIA as a means to conclude Godwyn’s story in the basegame while he instead focused on completing Elden Ring with Shadow of the Erdtree) [source: *Hidetaka Miyazaki says Shadow of the Erdtree focusing on Miquella is about "completing Elden Ring's circle" and honoring George R.R. Martin's contributions to the open-world RPG* headline by GamesRadar, June 24th (2024). I’m not linking the article because RU-vid can be funky sometimes😂]

Why does she think Marika and Radagon were always one being? Marika explicitly tells him that he “has yet to become her.” I’m not sure how you can square that quote with them always being one being but I’m curious about the reasoning.
@Arc77crA
@Arc77crA Месяц назад
I assumed that what Marika is referring to is that she was the one chosen to be a god, not Radagon, Radagon is just along for the ride in sharing that body/godhood with Marika since we know they have different wills
@peanutbutter6720
@peanutbutter6720 Месяц назад
That same quote has her refer to him as “mine other self” so I don’t think it supports a separate Marika and Radagon viewpoint at all. As the reply before me says, the full quote reads as Marika telling a Radagon who is already apart of her that he is yet to be a god but just a lord

Miquella praises Leda and Freyja at the start of the fight no? Leda's the loyal blade and Freyja's the champion of the festival, they both fell immediately before the battle, defending Miquella from you. Contextually it makes more sense I think
@PeteQuaint
@PeteQuaint Месяц назад
I’m a little confused, why is Freyja the champion of the festival? We beat Radahn, she wasn’t even there? If Miquella’s praising her and Leda then where’s Dane’s, Moore even?
