I completely agree with you about relaxed and color-treated hair. It's not exactly the same but both processes cause damage. the amount of damage will depend on how aggressive the service was - lightening hair more than 3 levels, and complete texture transformation causing the most damage. Retexturizers like relaxers, ALL OF THEM, put hair in a constantly fragile state because they alter the bonds in hair, often destroying them. So pampering hair in this fragile state is a must. Enter bond builders, a very recent and revolutionary category in haircare. They have caused a lot of confusion because there are different technologies and they are completely unregulated which allows companies to make many false claims (everyone claims they are like olaplex and they are not). There are three groups of bonders on the market today and they all work differently. Olaplex uses an ingredient that adds synthetic di-sulphide bonds (they create the structure in hair that maintains texture and integrity of hair strands). Olaplex is great for relaxed hair and very lightened hair but is EXPENSIVE. The second group are peptide and protein treatments like K-18 (also EXPENSIVE). These fortify hair by adding proteins back in the strengthen hair. The last group are the acid bonders (like this one you are reviewing). Acid bonders ph balance hair, close and seal the cuticle, condition hair, and strengthen it by repariong damage. the acids used are alpha hydroxy acids that have great skin bennefits, and we are now seeing that they also repair hair. Something to note is that the L'oreal group also owns Redken. Redken's acid bonding treatment came out first, so the everpure version will have similar formulation as the l'oreal group is notorious for sharing these formulations across its considerable portfolio of brands. It is likely that is has a lower percentage of the acid but the formulas will be the similar making this an affordable version of the original (but it could also be an exact copy for less money as brands love to do this). People are giving acid bonders better reviews than the protein bonders, so everpure is very likely to be as equally effective as it's redken counterpart. I very strongly recommend weekly bond treatments for retexturized and very lightened hair, or bi weekly if you wash your hair only once every two weeks. Also, it is not necessary to use the shampoos and conditioners that come with the bonders as they dont add any bond building. You can use whatever shampoo and conditoner you like and you will still see the same bennefits from the bond builders 🙂

This is the best explanation I have seen! Thank you so much for writing this. Question- I wash my hair weekly. Usually moisturizing deep conditioner one week, protein once to twice per month. Should I add the bind repair to my current routine, or replace one of the protein treatment washes?
@DanteVelasquez
@DanteVelasquez Месяц назад
@@DivaEagle77 As a general rule I would recommend the deep conditioner treatment twice per month, once a month a protein treatment, and once a month a bond builder treatment. One of the deep conditioning treatments could instead be a heated oil treatment. However, if you are a straight natural, have your hair lightened more than 3 levels from your natural color, or use relaxers, then I recommend the bond building treatment twice a month instead of the conditioning treatment. In those cases it will need bond fortification more urgently. This is given that you are using an acid bonder. If you are using a protein bonder then I recommend two deep conditioning treatments, 1 protein treatment, and 1 protein bonder treatment. Alternate them so that the protein treatments are not back to back :-)

Just a note, it works way better if you use a clear shampoo first getting rid of any silicones on the hair so the bonding complex can do what it needs to do. This is the only thing that I use in my hair.

I'm so glad you tried this one because I hear it's very comparable to the salon brands. I want to try this one and the one by redken. Your hair turned out beautifully. Looking forward to the rollers review. 💜

I hope you try the redken acidic bonding treatment might be similar to the L’Oréal bond treatment. My favorite product from redken acidic bond line is the 16% citric acid liquid mask

L'Oreal bond line is a dupe to Redkin's Acid Bonding system and fun fact they came from the same company. I learn this from a professional hairstylist who owns a youtube channel.

I’ve tried this line and I agree that my hair felt amazing after the shampoo but the conditioner was another story. I felt it left a cast on my hair and I rinsed well, it wasn’t until I started blowing it out that I knew for a fact it left a residue. I had to re wash my hair 😢

Don’t eat my head off but it’s a genuine question : Don’t your think your applying too much direct heat to your hair ? I swear every vid since your relaxer has entailed straightening your hair 😩😩 or your heat protect is just that good ??? Spill the beanssss 🥹🥹🥹🥹

No I don’t I think it works for me but might not work for others. I use products with heat protectant in them & I make sure to deep condition & use the heat setting that will give me the results I’m looking for ❤
