I think it's a very good plot device to have Ballas so easily stabbable. THink about it - he's Orokin. He doesn't much care for his physical wellbeing because the Orokin used to swap bodies like clothes (what the Grineer Queen wants to do with your tenno for example) and he's the Orokin executor, so he's used to having power over people. Not to mention Umbra tried this once and failed already, because Umbra himself cannot harm his creator. The reason he could in the end was because Umbra's and the Operator's mind working in tandem make it possible to kill Ballas, whereas neither could do it on their own. The best point this quest makes is about the relationship between the frames and the operators - the Tenno are not some puppetmaster, carelessly abusing a once sentient body, but they, like their Warframes are hurt, tortured people. They're children with incredible power turned into soldiers by the Orokin. That's kinda very traumatic, perhaps on par with the trauma the Warframes themselves went through due to their transformation. This is a story about two broken people forging a healthy bond of help and mutual support. And as someone who's undergone years of mental abuse and with a very fragile mental state, this story is very, very close to my heart and I love what DE did here.

I still want a Mission control option much like the UI options, which lets us choose who guides us on our missions, we will start with just Lotus and Ordis, but then through work under the syndicates and other factions, we could purchase Mission Control units. Those who spend sufficient time grinding the Conclave will be recognized by Teshin for their skills, Tenno, you have performed well, will you persist in combat, or will you fall back and regroup to further your efforts later? Those who scanned everything will be known as the hunters they are, Such a pity, hunter, that these creatures are too far gone to know the immortality of sanctuary... and those Tenno who can afford it will be able to purchased Primed Mission Control... Tenno... I have sent you some life support to further your ability to survive in such conditions. Potentially, we could even get Mission Control units from the non-factions like Maroo, "The Grineer wanted to lock me up... Let's catch one of them off guard and see how they like it."

Regarding Lotus/Natah and Hunhow paradox, I think there could be a simple explanation. In one of the flashbacks Ballas says "All miracles require sacrifice", OUT LOUD, mind you, not by telepathy. I think to him it meant bringing Margulis back in some capacity, something that, it seems, he could only do with Hunhow's help. That's how we ended up with Lotus. He even said that he planned his defection for many lifetimes, which probably means that he started thinking about it shortly after Margulis was executed, so he might have a hand in the creation of Lotus. It also appears that he blames Tenno for Margulis' death, and tried to use Hunhow to finally get rid of us (enemy of my enemy is my friend). Seems like in his grief over the years he has grown to despise or simply not care about Orokin, so he isn't loyal to anyone or anything, aside from his twisted love. And is willing to sacrifice anything to achieve his goals.
@Noodlepunk
@Noodlepunk 6 лет назад
White Void He could hold some resentment to them as well because didn't they blind her among other things. I am assuming there are scars as well.
@Psycorde
@Psycorde 6 лет назад
Kazia Thornhill He might think that Margulis loved Tenno more than him, and that Tenno basically stole her away from him. In the end, her love for these children is what got her executed. She choose to die for Tenno, instead of living for Ballas. Orokin wanted to turn them into a weapon (for them Tenno were just... things they could use), while all she wanted is to heal Tenno, give them their lives back. That's why she defied the Orokin. So yeah, Ballas has plenty of reasons to hate Tenno. But it doesn't make him any less of an asshole. Besides, it was Margulis' conscious choice, if anything, he should blame her.
@stanley1698
@stanley1698 6 лет назад
Also the reason Hunhow got the data on the Reservoir but didn't act on it was probably because his plan was to fake his own death and then have Natah sabotage the Reservoir and kill the Tenno. When this didn't work, Hunhow had to get the Stalker to do it when he woke up in the Second Dream.
@stanley1698
@stanley1698 6 лет назад
but they did encounter Warframes The Warframes beat the Sentients up real bad, that's why Hunhow made the plan to fake his death, implant Natah, and wait for her to kill them.

@Psycorde
@Psycorde 6 лет назад
Would make sense that prototypes/originals were made of people, "volunteers or not", and still carry memories within them. New, regular versions could be entirely artificial, biologically still with a human part, but absent of human essence - memories, consciousness. Although there could probably be exceptions, and there's a possibility that these memories are still buried somewhere deep inside, or at least their fragments. During the TSD our warframe acted on its own, clearly, and it would regardless of whether it was Prime or not. Which is most likely intended. Doesn't necessarily mean that it was controlled in the same fashion as Umbra, could be "Hey, kiddo" entity or something else entirely (like one of your parents reaching out of the Void in the moment of desperation).

White Void While I do believe that it was only the prototypes that were originally people, there is still an essence of life in the normal warframes. Remember the rogue chroma? He wasn't a prime and he was moving on his own without an operator. I believe its the same with all frames, where they share such a deep bond with their operator that they will move if they have to if their operator is in mortal danger.
@brassspeck3673
@brassspeck3673 6 лет назад
first off all warframes are alive(infested flesh), only the prototypes are sentient aka umbras, the normal and prime variants are made from zero with infested flesh and are not sentient.The chroma warframe wasn't sentient it was controlled by the infestation within it that either succumbed to the hive mind or went feral ( if you scan it you can see its part of the infested faction similar to mesa's case but without Alad's involvment ) , as for the second dream warframe breaking the sword on its own i say its : 1) lotus as she comes to help the operator right after the sword is broken . 2) the operator himself exerting his powers/will (maybe instinctively as we don't exactly know what void touched individuals are capable of) on the warframe through some means. 3) man in the wall/, he seems to be present in all tenno is someway or form (yes you can argue that he was still held under control by rell but that doesn't mean he is powerless , so he could be involved). I rly don't see why primes and and normal warframes would be sentient as they aren't made from a human base , they are made from scratch (as if you are going to mention "how come umbra mentained his mind even he was incinerated?" cuz we cloned him and the memory could be ingrained in the schematics thx to Ballas and his revenge upon umbra or ya know the helmet was found in pretty good shape

There isnt a paradox. Hunhow probably offered Ballas that somehow he can bring Margulis back if he just helps him destroy the rest of the Orokin. Ballas agreed, gave Hunhow all the information and then Hunhow began his plan to put Natah "in charge" of the Tenno.
@Tobias24111
@Tobias24111 6 лет назад
The Devil "true love does not see with the eyes, ballas" ~Margulis This would mean that ballas never understood this, as Hunhow would bring Natah back, who looks like Margulis but is a different person (for all we know). It sure would fit Ballas character.

After this quest and comparing the lore from Warframe quests, it seems all of the frames have an original that were made from people. Quests for those like Titania, harrow, and Inaros all implied that they were once people but suffered in the end. I'm sure in all of these cases they were transformed into warframes for their own sake. Could also mean that each frame's abilities and appearance are reminiscent of the host's personality. This could be the same for the stalker, maybe he was a dax that knew Excalibur umbra while he was still alive, and hates the tenno for controlling frames like him. Also I'm sure stalker himself is like umbra by having his own free will after transformation

@@Arc_Eden No according to the lore it said he was a temple guard for the Orokin the closest thing I can find on that is that the temple guard must have been some kind of Dax who used the transferance tech on himself to put himself into a warframe to pursue revenge. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iXno59aVyes.html And we have found people who have used Transferance tech on themselves before who aren't tenno but with consequences every time. I sort of thought that Margulis used or was forced to commit transference into Natah, either before or after the "jade light" execution, and that was why ballas decided to turn sides, either in a hostage scenario or by way of that being his deal with the Sentients. The whole calling out at the beginning of the quest drawing our attention, Natahs decision to help the tenno. It would all be more easily explained by this and be a much more convincing explanation as to why Natah decided to flip under the influence of Margulis or her memories.
@xayl
@xayl 6 лет назад
Plausible, but I have to wonder how Margulis was able to have that monologue about the orokin being "rotted, through and through" if she wasn't in her body at the trial? As I understand it the executors hold a trial and execute right there and then if they don't like what they hear.
@vizzi0172
@vizzi0172 6 лет назад
We learned through the rebuilding/creation of umbra Warframe that copies can be made that retain both identity and memories, and ballas was at the forefront of that research with the creation of the Warframes, to begin with. The only unknown is the exact state of that research during the time of the execution/trial. We already know that Margulis would have been fitted with the ability to commit "transference communication" through one of those "transference bolts" for the tenno's therapy treatment after the Zariman ten zero "accident". The question is what form if any, that may have taken when ballas decided to act. On that note, I'm still not convinced that the Zariman ten zero was an accident but that's another conspiracy theory lol.

You might want to watch "Warframe Developers Answer Unsolved Warframe Mysteries | Ars Technica" on youtube. In it they explain that Ayatan scuptures are simply polaroid snapshots of a persons mind at the point of their creation. So chances are that Ballas had such an Ayatan of his love which he used on the Lotus. Transfering a copy of Marge's mind before she met the Tenno.

I love what you pointed out with the Stalker! Excal Umbra was living in a cycle of the only memory he had, which was killing his own son, and it fueled his pain and rage. The Stalker’s codex is himself describing the memory of the Tenno slaughtering the Orokin Executives. He doesn’t seem to remember who he actually is, so it may be that he also is reliving that memory in a continuous cycle, fueling his anger and hatred toward the Tenno. I’m not sure how that would fit into the timeline, but I would love to see that developed within the story, even in puzzle pieces sprinkled into quests.

I'm of the opinion that the alliance between Ballas and Hunhow was a much more recent event, as in possibly just before the Second Dream. I think the reason for this is they struck a deal; Ballas gets Natah back for Hunhow, and Hunhow helps track down and destroy Umbra, possibly Hunhow's biggest threat, as Umbra is essentially a Warframe specialised in Sentient killing.

I feel like were going to get something like the "Apostacy Prologue" later on this year to wrap up the, what I would like to call, "The Missing Lotus" Arc. Also, and this is just a theory on my end, I believe Lotus' Helmet might be an Ayatan Relic/Device containing the consciousness of Margulis/Lotus. Bit of a stretch, but it was confirmed that the sculptures and stars are basically memories of people/events. So there is a slight possibility for the helmet, with the help of some Orokin tech, to contain ALL the memories and the personality of the OG Space Mom.

The paradox you mentioned may well not exist, as Ballus may have joined with the Sentients solely due to his resentment toward the Orokin that executed his beloved. Natah probably would have taken a different form during the old war, as Margulus just reappearing would bring up a lot of questions from everyone. Once everything was said and done, she took Margulus's form as a way to honor her sacrifice, and to cement herself as the mother of the Tenno.

My theory was that ballas had created and tested the original corruption, and umbra was the first test. But umbra was able to resist and basically became the first Tenno. Because all of the items you find, according to ordis were very very old and were never seen before in any other item. So my theory still stands that ballas created the corruption, that original corruption was somewhat lost until later where the corpus unleashed it all. Cause In the Natah quest it was mentioned that they found an old ancient weapon of some sorts and basically unleashed it and had it backfire

I think I can resolve the Second Dream plot hole...through the Second Dream. Ballas gave Hunhow all the information he needed to destroy the Tenno after they had destroyed the Orokin so Hunhow just had to wait until then. But the Lotus, who should have been the one to give up the Tenno, had become invested in them. So she pushed Lua into the void before the Sentients could destroy the Tenno.

Umbra frames are likely the originals from which all others are copied/cloned. Primes are the "favored" frames that performed some notable function admirably. Akin to a Dax receiving Golden Armor. An award for service, and likely ironically awarded to most of the tenno who participated in the victory ceremony where they killed the Orokin themselves... Also I highly believe ALL frames have some reflection of their base personality. Their static animations and often quests portray this heavily. I believe the laughing Mirage does all the way to her death is indeed the frame itself, perhaps in a small way taking over the Operator. I myself play Nidus quite a bit, who often reaches out with his/its clawed hand in a zombie/infested-like manner before shaking his head to "snap" out of it. Octavia is ALWAYS moving. Baruk has issues with his/its emotions. Inaros likes to act like an ACTUAL mummy. Limbo's showmanship and the fact that the frame literally mathed itself into another dimension and eventually its own demise. The list goes on. In a way, I'd say all frames have a form of "ghost in the shell" deal going on for them. Umbra Excal, being an Umbra/Original was the REAL DEAL, and being a willful person in life held on to its most recent and haunting memory. I hope DE has some final thing that brings this "Mind, Body, Soul" bullshit together into something meaningful as opposed to the fractured bits of "the true power of the tenno" that we have now. Also, we are fucking space ninja warriors. If we DON'T achieve some state if "ultimate one-ness" of bringing it all together then we will have failed the meme entirely.

My theory with the Warframes were that "Umbra" Warframes were the only ones that were actually people at one point. The Primes were artificially constructed from scans from the Umbras made with the sole purpose of tenno transference, allowing for more controllable "drones". The basic Warframes, in turn, are modern copies of the primes created via reverse engineering. In other words, Umbras are the originals, Primes are copies, and Basics are copies of copies. It helps to explain while Excalibur Prime is stronger than basic Excalibur, Excalibur Umbra is the only one to show any form of life without transference. EDIT: Grammatical and spelling errors

So Umbras predate primes? According to ballas umbra were people who were infected with the hybrid virus, but retained sentience, but then went insane. They were supposedly all killed. So the tenno were used to control a new wave of frames, which would be the primes. Also the person who killed umbra I'm pretty sure was the lotus in that cutscene, it was just unknown at the time that that was what she looked like now.

As Ballas tells Umbra his story over that board game, he mentions something about Umbra finding out about his treachery, and then follows it with "how could I turn against my own kind?" in a tone that seems like he's questioning Umbra's thinking and knows it's wrong. Like Big Daddy Baller planned it all anyway. And the way he sends Hunhow to Lua, the sentients seeming to not know what Tenno are cause Ballas has to explain it to him, seems more like he's acting like he's helping Hunhow, but is actually sending the entire sentient force to their deaths. Assuming past-Tenno knew how to work transference, an army of voidkids would have little trouble dispatching a large force of sentients drones, maybe putting a serious hole in Hunhow's army.

Maybe margules was baren and loved us so much was because she saw us as the children she couldn't have so when she died and lotus got her memories it kinda reminded her of the pain margules felt not being able to have kids just like her so that's when she starts to see the tenno as her children and now that I think ballus removed some or all her memories she reverted but to natah by unplugging because I think get this..... margules consciousness is in the lotus helmet so when he disconnected lotus from her helmet that disconnected the memories and she love she has for the tenno

I think all frames are made of infested human, but only the Umbra had consciousness as the Orokin didnt have the Tenno so they needed to keep the mind for control. The later Warframes likely to have their mind wiped out empty for the Tenno, with the exception of a few like Valkyr, Rhino.

To clear it up: your warframe breaking the hunhow sword in the seccond dream is not of its own accord. When your operator was removed from the reservoir, you had a temporary elevation of your void powers, thus the shooting lasers out of your hands before the war within bit. Whats happening later is your operator is barely able to control the warframe without direct contact due to a combination of the recent removal from the reservoir and the fact that your all up on adrenilan, and being choked to death. So your operator has partial control over your warframe and is able to move everything above the waist, to break the sword.

I legit just found your channel lol so I don’t know if you talked about this and we don’t really have a lot to go on about the man in the wall. But I also haven’t seen anyone else mention this, but did anyone notice how in TWW your character mentions your father saying something like, “we’re getting close kiddo” and TMITW also ends his sentences with kiddo. I’m not sure if that’s some sort of play on him getting in your mind or if he actually could have a connection to your father but I just found that interesting.
@xayl

I mentioned it in my war within video but nw, any discussion is good. My initial theory is that the void sort of eats up the minds of those (adults) that spend too long in there, thus becoming a big ol' soup of different thoughts. It could be that wally is just a single malicious entity playing on that connection to our Tenno's father though.

Only the Umbras were people turned into frames, when Ballas says they were failures, that's what he's referring to. The Umbras went crazy due to the Infestation, and they were hunted down and killed. All of this happened before the children of the Zariman were found. Once the Tenno were recovered, the Orokin wanted to kill them because their powers were a threat to them and couldn't be controlled. That's when Margulas steps up and says she will find a way to control their powers, by transferring their excess energy into an empty body, a Warframe. When we 1st see the memories of Excal Umbra, the Operator says that he saw a memory, and Ordis tells us that it's not possible because Warframes have no memories, they are just empty bodies made for the Operators to control. That's why Umbra can run around during transference and no other Frame can. Also, when our Frame breaks the War in Second Dream, that's just us controlling it to protect our fragile, mortal body.

I personally think that the warframes - both 'normal' and Primes - are made of inert infested flesh. A body without a mind to operate it, if you will. That is why the tenno can easily control them - they simply command a body that is ready to accept the commands. However, in the case of Umbra; Ballas trapped his mind by transforming his body into that of a warframe (via the infestation) and the loss of control over his own body was Ballas' way of punishing him. His first order to his unwillingly subservient new creation being to kill his own son. My case for this would be that the infested bosses (Phorid, Jordas Golem etc) refer to the warframes as being of one flesh but different - implying that they cannot communicate with the infested biomass that forms the warframes. I personally think this is because the warframe has no 'mind' present in the body. (which would also explain what Alad V alluded to when he said he had dissected a warframe and what he saw didn't make sense. I always intepreted that to mean he didn't understand how they could function (no brain, perhaps?) as autonomous entities.) The absence of a mind means that there is nothing for the infestation to communicate with which is why they urge the warframe to 'assimilate' and 'be reborn' by reconnecting to the hivemind via consumption of 'non-inert' infestation. Lephantis specifically urges the warframe to 'consume us and be reborn'. We have also seen the tenno (operators) controlling machinery such as the Golden Maw - implying that transferrence can override basic functions or programming such as what would be needed to keep the biomass alive (nutrient intake and whatever). I suspect Ballas 'programmed' Umbra's new body to accept transferrence - meaning he was trapped inside a body and watching as his obeyed orders/programming. That would explain how Ballas can so easily restrain Umbra when he tries to kill him at the end of The Sacrifice - he gave a command which triggered a 'precept' (like what the Cephalons have) in Umbra's body. The existence of Umbra's consciousness within the warframe itself would also explain why the Umbra warframe reacts so violently to our attempts to control it - he has built up a tolerance or found a way to do his own thing without disobeying the 'precepts'. (E.g. a precept stating the need for continued survival could be used to justify circumventing a precept stating that Orokin cannot be harmed (for example by classifying them as rouge) but that could not be brought directly into conflict with a precept like 'you must obey all Orokin orders' which would likely outrank the precept stating the need for survival - hence Umbra could attack Ballas but when Ballas commanded him to stop he was forced to obey by the higher ranking precept) This would lead me to the conclusion that no other warframes possess a consciousness - the broken war incident during the second dream was the operator somehow accessing a greater extent of their transferrence powers in desperation. The codex entries of the Prime warframes can be explained as adverse reactions from the infested biomass (or human victim) before programming was implanted and their consciousness was removed/terminated/overrriden - which explains why they are no longer self aware. Anyway, that's my view on it - all feedback is welcome.

just want to mention the mother lotus is referring to may be hunhow...."but he's her father" i hear you say well we know that that natah is a fragment of hunhow and the sentient fragments refer to their source sentient as their mother as we see in some of the eidolon related stuff so...could be we finally are gonna get a face to face with hunhow and then proceed to get incinerated but who knows (also yes i am aware in the second dream quest lotus refers to hunhow as her father but for the sake of theorizing im gonna gloss over that) also i know alot of people are saying we might end up heading to tau and imo thats very possible and im inclined to agree accept for 2 reasons reason (A) ifcrossing the void the first time ruinined their wombs and in octavia's anthem hunhow needed to drain suda's energy to sustain a group of decaying sentients in the void how does natah plan to get back to tau as would most likely be what occurs as a catalyst to lead us to tau. and (B) what about hunhow it seems to me his plan was to clear a path for his brethren to return to the origin system (though with the part about protecting tau in the sacrifice maybe not) it seems unlikely he'd head to tau then and so saying that if he doesn't go i doubt natah would since she's his drone/daughter as a side note if we kill hunhow does natah and the other fragments die too? (assuming a mother sentient can be fully killed i mean the eidolon is still very much so alive even in its severely weakened state) but all this is just a theory a game...wait no a warframe theory no wait LOREframe theory

I think it makes more sense that Lotos is our enemy. She has basically forced us to fight the most powerful factions currently in our system making every party involved weaker. Also through our adventures lotos has constantly tried to keep us week and vulnerable while trying to keep our faith in her as a leader.

Seems to me that the Primes were constructed from Orokins, the Umbras from Dax soldiers, and the regular warframes from tenno or regular humans. That would explain all the variations.

My guess is that Warframe are just able-bodied human of similar skill that's been handpicked to be injected with corresponding Helminth mutating strain. The few special humans were given specific strain that would turn them into Prime Warframe, and be given to dedicated Tenno of old. Now, with the invention of Specters, we can bypass the first part and focus on making them into Warframes. Again that's just my guess.
