Get the evidence first so no one can say this didn't happen, also no one was hurt just shocked, then get the police, also the evidence could be used to claim against the firm alleys truck driver, or the firm, Glad no one was hurt in this!
@@wildadventurers9067 utterly unacceptable, tis is whats wrong with people now, your absolute first response should have been to call the police rater than video it, how did you know the lorry driver wasnt slumped over in the cab, your a disgrace
Love how no one has even checked into the cab by using the steps to see if the lorry driver simply hasnt collapsed at the wheel and slumped down out of view
It was Airbag / handbrake failure I know 1 of the recovery drivers that recovered the lorry, moving the train somehow damaged 1 of the Airbags and when the driver went to get his paperwork signed he looked out the window and just saw his truck take off and the injured person was the truck driver running after it trying to stop it luckily he hit the side of the truck and didn't land underneath it. The story was also in the paper.
I`m a hgv driver. The brakes work on air=the air releases the brakes so if the system fails the brakes are locked on.From what you said it sounds like the driver may have forgotten to apply the handbrake when he got out of the cab.Whatever the cause, like the van driver said, luckily nobody was badly injured or worse.
@@sparsh415 True it can be air brake. If rans out it'll automatic locked on the wheels likes you've mentioned as Truck is designed that way for safety if not got any air pressures. Bet that why you runs The truck for good 30 minute upto 1 hour before travel ? Not to warm up the engine but to rebuild the airs pressure. In this video it is most likely the driver forgotten to applied the handbrake. So to me might have left engine on and forgotten the handbrake. No air it'll locked on altogether 🤷♂
@@hawky2k215 Hello, you do have to build the air pressure up but it only takes about 5 mins. First thing in the morning we`re required to show 15 mins of vehicle checks on our tacho cards by law. The usual routine is=Digi card in,fire up the engine, walk around checks, check load, paperwork etc. Usually, after 15 mins, your on the road and earning the company money. I think you could well be right about this incident being driver error but it wont take them long to work out what`s happened.
@@sparsh415 Everything you've said is correct on what you do. If the truck got no air pressure at all it'll locked on the wheel anyway unless engine were left running too
One of the Best Heavy Haulage companies in the UK hauling Locomotives all over the the British Countryside, Sadly accidents do happen, Hope the Driver of the MAN TGA is OK.

@@traffordmedia Retired now after 40 years as a class one driver....so glad I am away from the nonsense we see from truck drivers daily....all very very sad.
I used to work for Morris Allely 20 yrs ago, great company with top class kit, good enough to haul the rarest locomotives on earth inc the Flying Scotsman
With load a combined weight of around 70 tons and then brake failure, goodnight Marie. I had a brake failure with a loaded Antar on the German A1 many moons ago. Luckily our convoy had escorts and no one or anything was damaged other than my undies. I had a combined weight of 120 tons.
@@sparsh415 no. The pipe to the servo blew and dumped the air, locked the shoes and burnt the linings ergo no brakes on the tractor. Remember these were late forties vehicles not modern day scannis or mercs.
Obviously brake failure or the driver had an episode. Allely's are a professional and highly respected company, I've never seen anything like this from them before
Rather ironic that it is carrying a London Underground battery loco on the trailer. The loco is fitted with wheels to run on rails, so, assuming that it was disabled, if it had to be somewhere else, it could have been towed. If an axle had seized, a "skate" would have permitted movement. I admit that I do not know all the facts here, but too often rail vehicles are moved by road for cheapness- well it hasn't been so cheap in this instance. Having said that, however, I must point out that Allelys transport are a well respected firm with plenty of experience in this sort of move. This incident surprises me as I have seen quite a few videos of similar work by them and they have shown tremendous skill.
Should have showed the sign just off the round about that states that it’s private property and that all cars are left at owners risk. Good luck getting an insurance payout 😂
Ah no. The horror the driver must've felt when they turned back up to see their lorry all the way down the road, and the carnage thats just been caused 🫣
@@wildadventurers9067 I`m hgv =He`ll probably get his p45 and maybe points(not sure) but I dont think he`d be banned for life. Even after a nightmare like this he`d easily get another job. The driver who assessed/trained me for BQ took out 6 cars(£50,000 damage) when he worked for Travis perkins. He hadn`t locked away the lorry crane stabiliser properly,it shot out and he was pulling the cars down the road with him.
Air pressure in truck brakes works two ways; it applies the service brakes and releases the parking brakes but there's a limit to the spring force in a parking brake even in an STGO 2 category vehicle and the video plainly shows both the STGO placard and the abnormal load. My guess is whatever the true cause of the failure, they'll blame the driver for not additionally using wheel chocks.
Unusual for an Allelys lorry to have a crunch as they are pretty pro bunch of loco movers, on back is one of LT's battery loco's a rare sight even on the tracks nicknamed "Notre Dame" cos you ended up a hunchback if you were over 5 ft tall lol
This would not have happened if a heritage locomotive was on the back like the flying scotsman or a Deltic as this was a low value locomotive of no historic value.
In olden days we where taught to turn your wheels when parking for this very reason. Especially when pulling heavy loads. Aim it for anything close where it would stop against or just so it turns and not just straight on down a hill. I always do, because you can't trust anything mechanical.
@@aswclassicsiow8588 truck is too old for an e hand break, I’m a class 1 license holder & drive MAN trucks. Truck would need to be 21 plate or newer.. at a glance I’d hazard a guess at the year being between 17-19 plate, possibly a 20 plate.
Option one is he forgot the handbrake. Option two is he forgot the handbrake but the air was low so as soon as it built back up, it released the brakes. Option three is the same as option two except he mistook a brake warning light for the 'handbrake on' light. Option four is that the entire braking system failed. Me personally, the first thing I do instinctively is engage the handbrake. I usually double check before I leave the cab.
Looking at the MOT history site (you can check trucks too for their version of the MOT, an "annual inspection"), and this MAN TGX has an outstanding recall. I wonder if it's to do with the braking system?
P.S; In these days of Pfizer/Moderna/AZ,it wouldn't surprise me...the Ian Hutchinson (TT Races) documentary was on last night, just look what it did to him...survived motorcycle racing, the jab nearly ended him,if it weren't for Jason O'Halloran who was cycling with him in Spain!
All the hype about driverless vehicles - it could have been a driverless lorry. But seriously, I wonder if the driver forgot to put the parking brake on. There's no way of stopping that weight and size easily.
yeah, petrol big trucks haven't been made since like the 1940s. and even Diesel ones only do 8 miles per gallon or so, and these heavy haulage ones likely do even less. but to be fair, Diesel fuel is still petroleum-based, it's just called "Diesel" after the _compression ignition_ engine invented by Rudolf Diesel that it's intended to fuel.
@@wildadventurers9067 Not really, you weren`t sure and did the sensible thing and told him to get out of a dangerous are.He had a mobile phone in his hand which has the potential to ignite fuel+ the truck could have started moving again. If it was yourself who filmed this I think you responded really well to the situation. 🙂
Alleley's usually have two people in the cab plus an escort vehicle. No sign of them. I wonder whether they'll show that in the next series of 'Train Truckers'!
How sad. I am a fan of heavy haulage and watch this actual firm, Allelys, on their RU-vid channel. I hope no one was hurt. I would doubt it, because of the speed the truck would be travelling at. Nevertheless, it must have been terrifying for all concerned!
Damn, Could be faulty parking brake failed or driver simply forgot to put on the parking brake either way looks like someone is seeing the traffic commissioner oops.
Lot to be said for Leaving a Heavy Haulage truck in Reverse along with application of H/Brake when facing down hill , or 1st when facing up hill , if leaving for a long period drain Air Tanks All Brakes lock on,,. then accidents like this don't happen.
If you drain tanks brakes don't lock on they release it's only when any air is in tanks ie some pressure in lines then brakes lock on till full air pressure is up ie buzzer not going mental! then they release.
@@buckrogers2828 i suggest you try out what your stating, PARK ON STEEP HILL with h/brake on and box in Park Drain AIR Tank of ALL AIR, select Nuetral & release Hand brake, DID IT ROLL AWAY. ????
@@6chhelipilot absolutely, how else could a low loader roll away on its own, I drove low loaders for many years and this could not have happened if the parking brake was applied properly .
Just so people understand, the air in a truck brake system holds the brakes off, releasing that air will apply the brakes, its fail safe, if you lose the air from the tanks or a brake line breaks the brakes will automatically be applied. You can have brakes fail if you use your brakes heavily and constantly such as going down a steep incline ,the brakes will overheat and you will get brake fade.
If you think that fence is strong enough to stop a 44ton plus lorry, you are hugely mistaken. Most of been a fault with the truck. You can’t get out the cab with the engine off and hand brake NOT on without it giving you an audible tone
He`d left the engine on to build up air pressure according to another comment. When I drove for B and Q another hi-ab driver up North left his crane vertical and drove up the Motorway and hit a Gantry ripping off the crane. My manageress asked me if you`d be able to tell. I went yeah defo was he drugged tested cos an alarm would have been going in the cab(which you can sometimes switch off),the truck would have handled like shit and other road users would have been sounding their horns etc but he still did it.
Totally agree anyone can make a mistake,I’ve worked on these type of vehicles for over 50years and over that time vehicle brakes have got better and better,if the parking brake had been properly applied there’s NO way on the planet I know of it rolling away down that hill on its own,if an air pipe had burst the spring brakes would have automatically applied themselves as soon as the air pressure dropped,if there is an answer to this I would love to know about it,someone has already said it could have been the air bag being damaged but everything is piped independently to stop things like this happening.
Did the driver run away or what….. also big transporting trucks like these have a escort vehicle ahead of them… not getting the full story in this video….. 😬🤔
TV crew missed that one always watch the trucking progs sure a weird incident where's the people when they move the trains always loads of folk that's a strange case lucky no one killed
Looks like a few dollars worth of damage there and no doubt a bruised truckies ego! But obviously some sort of accident and I sort of feel sorry for the poor bastard!
We were there until the police, ambulance, and firebrigade turned up. Which was approximately 10mins. There was no sign of the driver during that time.
..I don't think id run after that mate.. as much as you wanna save it, but the weight that is pushing.. is quite high.. and I myself don't wanna get caught by it
@PD Tech alot of hgvs I've worked on have a system when the vehicle goes more than 3 or 5 mph the doors lock.. could be on that or like you said a mystery
Bet they had cones out to stop people parking there but as usual people move them to park. You are warned not to park in places where they place cones most likely mechanical failure and incompetent car drivers moving the cones
Its terrible. That companies not buying everyone a new car, they will have to go through their insurance. A lot of those look older stuff, probably agency rail workers parked up, looking at the orange jacket on the dash in the mini. My point is, those cars will be owned, not on finance or leased, you get peanuts from your insurance. If someone smashes my 07 plate Fiesta up, what do you think they give me? I'm off the road and that's it 👍
@@andrewthornhill4229 it's the same everywhere you go, supermarkets, retail parks, BnQ, builders merchant, garden centre, Harrolds lock Smith, any business car park, football stadium, gym, anywhere. If I'm parked at the side of the road and someone goes down the side of my 16 year old Fiesta, I wouldn't even ring the insurance, I'd have to repair it myself. They would write my car off with a dented wing. I had a flat tyre in York, picked a screw up in Holgate Depots yard, I just got the car into Kwik fit as it went completely down, lad put it on the ramps, forgot to put blocks under to clear the plastic sills, broke them, not the clips, the actual sills. I took it to John Bee body shop, yes Richard, new cills, painting, fitting, £650 and that was 2019. I just glued them back on tight. That's why I drive a banger. I'll only pay 4 to 5 k for a car and I always keep enough money in the bank to replace it, if I have to 👍
Insurance claim must have been a few quid, respectful company alleys aswel.but mechanical failure can't be avoided, act of God I think it comes under with insurance company.
Apparently the driver parked the lorry at the top of the hill, which is approximately 400-600 meters away. He went off for lunch. He turned up an hour later when the police were looking for him.
