Ppl forget that Lakers even with injuries had best regular season that year in whole league. Everyone healthy they were really fun to watch. Malone fit perfectly. Many games he would be facilitator even more than Lakers own pg. Game 3 Malone had 30 points and 10 rebounds. At 40 years old. At 39 he led Jazz to playoffs. Cmon.

I disagree with the title prime Shaq never had a big 4 or a big 3 that just isn’t true. Shaq had a Penny, Kobe or Wade with all role players. Karl Malone and Gary Payton were at the very back end of their respected careers and were just role players.

Look at the hand checking and physicality of this era. Will modern day superstars thrive in this? Your thoughts?

Eeeh maybe? It depends because the current NBA is so soft these dudes barely be used to contact. I’m honestly not sure bro.

The game has changed to suit so called superstars across all sports. It's about having the fans pay premium to see them. As such, officials etc, claims are they don't want them damaged, so it's a case of bedroom basketball.

Why was the purple on the Lakers court so bright? And holy hell it's strange seeing the Staples not dark lol Unless it's the Clippers of course

kobefan009 either way, they were already a championship team & added to HOF’s, this is simply a failed super team

Of course it's a superteam, Payton was just 35 yrs old and Malone aged like wine until he got injured

@@Jay_draco they lost in the 2nd round the year before. They were a "name brand" team, not a superteam. They still had real weaknesses at point guard and small forward and both got exposed in the Finals along with power forward with Karl Malone injured.

Chemistry issues, out of shape shaq, Ego’s of the “big 4” especially payton he didn’t want to run the triangle. That’s what made this team dysfunctional, carried by kobe and shaq. What a shame

💯 I totally agree with you. Everything you said combined with the Laker's nagging injuries, poor shooting and a lot of flopping by the Piston's defense they got away with doomed their chances in the 2004 NBA Finals.

Ricky they still won 56 games and got to the finals. Imagine if Karl, Kobe and Shaq didn't miss all of those games. They would have won 70 games first.
