The Train Geek wouldn’t have beat the Saints, their offense was explosive, they would’ve been at home and their defense was shutdown toward the end of their season allowing 16 PPG.

Hopefully Foles puts some wind in the sails of that offense so they don't totally waste this defense. I'm a big fan of strong defensive teams, loved watching the 2000's Steelers & Packers and the Legion of Boom Seahawks and have watched film on the 2002 Bucs and I love how the Bears play D so it'd be a massive shame to see a defense of this quality get wasted by a guy that they can't run half the playbook with and is frustratingly inconsistent. (Obviously I'm talking about Trubisky).

Bears defense was still a top 5 last season. The offense was way too dependent of the defense. If it wasn't for the defense, the Bears wouldn't even have won the division and made the playoffs. Hopefully Foles will help our offense at least to score some TDs.

john doe Agreed. The only time one can argued the offense outperformed the defense in 2018 was against the Buccaneers, who had a historically bad defense. Not much to write home about.

Not only that, they set the blueprint to destroying McKay’s system. The patriots used it in super bowl 53 and the rest of the nfl adopted it over the off-season.

It was the first regular season game I attended as well. So much fun. I remember my feet being numb after the game it was so cold.

Cortez Trubisky was at this time still getting his fundamentals right. A lot of his throwing power was generated from his arm and less from his hips and torso. You should watch Brett Kollman’s video on Trubisky where he compares Trubisky’s throwing motion with Peyton Manning’s. It explains why Trubisky was so poor in this game given the shoulder injury.

Cortez cutler beat the packers on Brett favre retirement day which made me the happiest bears fan of all time so I can’t say anything bad about cutler I’m sorry also trubisky should had won a super bowl already
