Los Jaivas are one of the most important bands from Chile, They've been around for more than 60 years, mixing progressive rock, psychedelic rock, Chilean folk, classic music, Andean music and more. This is a master piece from 1975. Great reaction!
The group was founded in 1963 under the name High Bass, and after a couple of years of searching they changed their name to Los Jaivas. In this search they found a way to fuse rock and folklore in a combination of psychedelic rock and progressive rock with Latin American folk instruments and rhythms, especially Andean. Their first musical production was in 1971, called El Volantín, where the path they had found was clearly announced, which would make them distinctive in the world music scene. Led Zeppelin was formed at the end of 1968.

In the 70’s, progressive rock rules the world, but in Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina, folk music (a mixture of spanic and original tribes legacy) had a strong presence, so many bands merged both and create this great fusion. Note the drummer used to play a great battery and many times he was compared to John Bonham.

This work is from 1975, the sound of the guitar is painful, you have to understand that at that time they had no money and the guitar is out of tune because they did not have a better one. The recording is painful too. The winds are with instruments that are not very precise due to their own indigenous nature.
