I was on Losartan 25 mg for a year with few noticeable side effects except a UTI that I have never had before but after 1 year when I got a new prescription for Losartan, the pill looked different. The old pill was round. The new pill is oblong. This new pill gave me a minor, consistent cough and shortness of breath. My doctor did not believe that it was the losartan but had me cut the dose in half and the cough and shortness of breath got better. He then had me stop Losartan altogether and the cough and shortness of breath went away entirely in about a week. I am just borderline for hypertension so my doctor thought I would be okay without any blood pressure medication.
Not surprising unfortunately, over the years of being on Losartan not a single doctor warned me of side effects, diet interactions, or healthy lifestyle changes that could replace being on meds.. Fortunately I've only been taking 25 mg., and now that I've educated myself about how to manage my BP without meds I'm going to say adios to Losartan and live a healthier and wiser life.
Doctor Curtis, My doctor prescribed Losartan-25 mg. I read online that Losartan had been recalled due to nitrosamines and/or nmba's. Does this drug still contain this carcinogen; and, if so, why is it still on the market and why do doctors still prescribe it?
I have been taking Losartan for about 10 years ,about 2 years in I started experiencing tendon weakness in both my heals and shoulders,,I asked my doc if it could be from Losartan he said no. The problem has eventually gone away.
You forgot back pain. I had to quit the drug and took up Yoga to recover. The actual cause of my high BP was mouthwash, which prevented nitric oxide by killing the good germs that we need.
I forgot to take my losartan for a few days and I ended up with mouth blisters and lip swelling on day 3. A few days later a friend of mine had the same thing happen to him after not taking the losartan for a few days. I had been switched to losartan after lisinopril gave me the same reaction after forgetting to take it as well. Both medications have given me a persistent dry cough since the start of taking them. Not sure if any of this is coincidental and my doctor and pharmacist don’t have a clue.
My dr gave me losartan not because I high blood pressure but because I take metformin, se said that is to protect my kidneys Fromm the metformin, sometimes I wonder if is true. What do you think ?
I was on Lasaeten some years ago the Dr's took me off as it was not working. They have put me back on it and it made me feel terrible and dreadful Tinitus. I've been on Atenolol 50mg twice e day, I cannot understand why they put me back on it if it doesn't agree with me
